"so..." jungwon trails off, hands stuffed inside his pockets as he looks at your defeated face. "they really left us, huh?"

he's so tall that you need to lean your head back just so you can see his face. he's so handsome that he makes you nervous and you swear his face is shining. jungwon, in a way, was like a superstar to you— someone who seemed so far away just months ago but now, he's at an arms grasp. you don't even know how you've managed to hold a conversation with him over text without completely messing up your spelling, and you can't even begin to comprehend how you've managed to stay calm standing beside him at this moment.

he is just... unreal.

with a tired sigh, you try and mask the why your palms start tearing up with the idea of only the two of you together. shaking your nerves off, you throw your phone back inside your bag and look at jungwon with an apologetic smile, trying to ignore the way your heart races as the two of you make eye contact. its the good kind, you hope.

you scratch your head, saying, "yeah, they did. im really sorry. they can be immature sometimes."

at that, jungwon smiles and you can't help but internally swoon. his dimples are protruding and his pearly straight teeth are showing. 'he's so charming,' you dream to yourself.

"you don't need to say sorry, yn. it's not your fault." he's quick to reassure. "and besides, i like spending time alone with you." he says, smilling cheekily and your cheeks bloom red.

jungwon has been confusing to you as of late. not to be assuming, but all the gestures and sweet words he's said to you screams that he likes you. if he really does, then you're not sure because you've been waiting so patiently for him to admit it— for him to say that he likes you, but the boy seems to have no intention in doing so whatsoever.

and now, you're at your limit. you can't take it anymore. the mixed signals and that heart fluttering smile is making you confused. does he like you? does he not? ugh, boys are so confusing!

dear diary, why can't he just read my mind? is it so impossible?!

"don't... say stuff you don't mean." you mutter, half not and half expecting for him to hear.

and she says boys are confusing.

"hm?"

"i-i said," clearing your throat, you look him in the eye, wanting to show him that you were convicted to let him know how you feel. "don't say— or even do stuff you don't mean."

however, the boy doesn't seem somewhat fazed or taken back. instead, he shifts his weight on one foot, tilting his head and smilling at you mischievously. "why not?"

"b-be... because!" you don't know whats happened to you. a while ago, you were conversing just fine with one another. now, the old you has seemed to take over and you can't even blurt out one word without stuttering.

gosh he makes you so nervous.

"because what, yn?"

since when has he gotten so close?

suddenly, you're aware of his eyes on you. his big, boba like eyes. they're so full and dark...

"yn?" you hear him call out to you and you're suddenly pulled back into reality. wide eyes stare up to him as if you've forgotten your goal at hand and when he sees your reaction, it just seems to amuse him as he chuckles, grinning at you teasingly.

enraged, you burst out. "because it makes my heart flutter!" you scream and you wish you could say that jungwon was taken back, but he doesn't seem to be fazed at all, only continuously watching you with the same chesire-like expression he wore previously and your caught furious. "there! when you smile like that... i-it makes my heart flutter a-and you can't say stuff that makes me... me... ugh! i hate boys!"

you must've looked like a complete nut-job screaming at a smilling boy beside the busy streets of the shopping avenue the two of you are supposedly arguing at.

you expect jungwon to back away, creeped out by your outburst, but he doesn't. instead, he asks, "you don't hate me, right?"

"i hate you the most." the words come out muffled as your palms press against your face in an attempt to hide your burning cheeks, too embarrassed to face anyone, especially him, at this moment.

"aww that's too bad." he pouts fakely. "cause i like you."

as a lover?

as a friend?

can't he just specify?!

damn it! he's too much. you feel like your body is shaking and you just want to coil up and hide in embarrassment. you can't stop stuttering and the sweat on your hands are making them clammy and all you want is for him to go away so you can take them off your face.

"w-when you say it like that... it makes me think that you l-like me."

"don't i?"

"stop answering me with questions!" your outburst makes jungwon laugh and it takes you to your limit.

knitting your brows, you figure that he doesn't seem to be taking you seriously. does he think you're a joke? but didn't he just say that he likes you? then why does he keep answering you with questions, making you even more confused about his feelings even more.

scowling, you demand. "date me."

this is what seems to catch the boy off guard. finally, as much as you loved his playfulness, you're over the moon now that the teasing glint in his eyes are gone. his eyes are wide and unbelieving. now, it's his turn to stutter. "d-date you?"

"yes. date me. be my boyfriend." It's not a request as you seem to be ordering him to do so. but you just seem so cute and adorable when you're determined to do something, he just couldn't say no. except, he can't say yes either as the shock has still not yet subsided.

"date me for 3 months. if you don't like me by then, then fine. leave me, find another girlfriend, and I'll leave you alone. for good."

to you who has no idea of how flustered and at a loss of words jungwon is at the moment, he just seems like he's conflicted and unsure of his feelings. he likes you, but won't admit it. so you take the initiative and end this confusing dilemma with the only solution you could think of at the moment.

the way you said it made it seem like it was the most logical answer to your situation. truth be told, at the time— and to you, it was the most rational thing to do; he's confused and doesn't know whether he likes you or not. so, you proposed the idea with the goal of finally determining his feelings for you in the end of 3 months.

and jungwon can only nod his head in a daze.

indeed, park jay, one of the star players of be:lift high rugby team and park yn's older brother, has suffered a serious injury. who wouldn't if you crashed into someone who possesses triple your body weight? even with protective gear on, no armour could've prevented jay from being thrown 12 ft backwards when he and the said heavy weighter collided.

the crowd sat still, murmuring with each other as they exchange worrisome looks. jay winces on the ground as he tries sitting up, miserably flailing back on the grass because of the overbearing pain.

at the sight of your brother in pain, you quickly climb down the bleachers and hop over the fence, wasting no time by paying any of the curious onlookers an ounce of your attention. though they were instructed to back off and give your poor brother some space, the team can't help but stick close in worry.

you push past them in a rush, quickly falling to your knees and ignoring the muddy stains it'll leave on your white pants. when jay sees you, he quickly moves to try and sit up once again. but of course, nothing changes and jay's body gives up on itself.

"aish..." he winces, but then catches sight of your fear stricken face. forming his best, most reassuring smile, jay says, "don't worry, yn. im fine. i just got hurt a bit hurt. it's nothing too serious."

however, none of it seems to work as soon, your lip starts to quiver, trying to hold back the sobs thatre threatening to come through.

"come on, yn." a sudden voice calls out. with your attention caught, you turn your head towards the owner of the said voice and you see jungwon walking towards the both of you. "let's help jay, hyung get to the infirmary, alright?"

people would say that you were being overdramatic for almost bursting into tears just because your brother got hurt during a match. clearly, he isn't on the verge of death. you didn't dare to look around but you knew that there was more than one person who thought you were being theatrical. but jungwon would never think that. of course, jungwon is kind— that's why. that's why you love him.
