An analysis of Momochi: from a student interested in psychology

The main thing I’ll be talking about here is the way he treats his s/o and the members of Veronica, though there’s more emphasis on the former. Hope you guys enjoy this wall of text I wrote at school during my free time.

TW: mentions of suicide, abuse, toxic relationships

First up, the way he treats his s/o might be due to how his parents interacted, or how he was treated. In this scenario, the most possible situation at hand is:

Parents’ toxic relationship ---> Momochi ---> (Projection) S/O

+ Research has shown that one’s parents’ relationship will affect the child’s love life. For example, Person A’s parents squabble and fight every day, one blaming the other and the one silently accepting (no retaliation). Communication is non-existent. Growing up, Person A finds themselves in the same situation despite constantly telling themselves not to be like their parents. This has happened quite a lot.

+ I believe that Momochi’s mother was on the receiving end of the abuse, considering she was implied to have committed suicide. If we also take into consideration Awauta and Gurensinjyu, this is the most possible situation.

Now, Momochi’s growth environment caused him to project his mother onto his S/O, regardless of whether he’s aware that his actions are bad. To let everyone understand easier, here’s another example: a mother gets scolded by her superiors at work, and in turn scolds her child at home, while saying it’s “education”. Addiction: Momochi’s behavior towards his S/O. Because of the two factors above, he feels a sense of satisfaction when he sees his girlfriend in pain because of him specifically. This is especially evident whenever he chokes his S/O in his drama tracks.

Summary:

Momochi’s repressed negative emotions from how he was raised, combined with his fears and thoughts, make him the person he is right now. A toxic loop, but to him, it is still love nonetheless. He does truly love his girlfriend (I used up all my strength just to write these 6 words), but because of environmental and psychological factors, his idea of love is twisted and incredibly unusual.

No one taught him how to love someone properly, and nor do I think he loves himself either. He puts on a facade of superiority to hide his insecurities. Here’s his mindset in a nutshell:

“I don’t know how to love, so I’ll show her love in my own way. This is so she’ll never leave my side. I’m scared, but I don’t know any other way to make her stay with me.”

“The members of Veronica are all rich and good-looking. I can only surpass them with my skills. I’m scared of losing my only worth because they all surpass me in terms of background and looks.”

First Meeting (Drabble)

momochi x reader 🥺❤️ (i tried to make this as gender neutral as possible so anyone can read it and self insert if they want)

I felt the frustration build up inside me when I realized I was lost.

Great.

I had agreed to meet up with my friends at this café in the shopping district, since we were going to a Veronica concert later today, but because of certain circumstances, it appeared that I was going to be late. Extremely late. Especially if I didn’t figure out something quick.

They had told me it was only a few blocks away from the mall we normally frequent, but I had been walking around in circles for the past half hour.

I frowned and pulled my phone out of my pocket to take one more good look at the map. It says the café is around the block where the mall and train station are at, but I’ve walked by that area about one thousand times already and saw nothing.

With a small sigh, I pocketed my phone and began to walk to where the map was telling me to go. Again.

I had my doubts about actually finding the café after having searched the same area so many times, but maybe the 1001th time is the charm.

By the time I reached the train station, I felt my patience begin to wear thin. It’s the same sight I’ve seen multiple times already.

I turned to look at the train coming from behind me as it slowly started to slow down. Maybe I could ask someone to see if they perhaps know where the café is at.

I took in a deep breath and swallowed up the shame that was beginning to bubble up in my chest, observing the people coming out of the train to decide who looked the most approachable. My eyes landed on this very pretty girl dressed in a business casual attire and decided to go up to talk to her.

“Hey, um-“ I went to tap her shoulder, my phone already in hand to ask for directions. But before I could ask the simple question, she whipped her head around to give me a harsh glare.

The shock of having read this woman wrong sent me stumbling backwards, and I felt myself bump into the person behind me, causing me to quickly turn around to apologize.

I was then met by these cold, blue eyes that looked purple in this lighting and felt my breath hitch. The man looked me from over his shoulder, one hand pulling his mask down, and I could clearly see that he was frowning.

Panic flooded my senses, and I shakily raised my phone to take a good look at my lockscreen. I had to prove to myself that I wasn’t crazy. But once I glaced up from my phone screen, I realized it was exactly who I thought it was.

I gaped at the blonde man, who I now knew was Momochi from Veronica.

He furrowed his eyebrows at me after a few seconds passed without me saying a word. His mouth broke out into a smile after giving me a good look up and down, but he quickly covered it up with his mask. I snapped back to reality when I saw him open his mouth to say something.

“Hey, are you okay?” The shock still hadn’t gone away by that point, so all I could do was stare before nodding a little too enthusiastically. His smile widened at this, and he let out a small chuckle. “I couldn’t help but notice your shirt. I’m looking forward to seeing you at our show tonight.”

I felt my face heat up, and I quickly moved my attention to my shirt, which, embarrassingly enough, was a Veronica shirt I had bought at their previous concert.

Momochi just continued to smile at me, and I watched as his mouth continued to move, letting me know that he was still speaking, but I was not registering anything of what he was saying.

Moments passed, and Momochi waved goodbye before turning around and beginning to walk away. I couldn’t do anything other than stare at his back before I couldn’t see him anymore, and then I finally came back to reality.

I couldn’t believe what happened. I pulled at the hem of my shirt and peeked at the signature that was left in black sharpie, just to confirm that this encounter did, in fact, happen.

The rest of the day was blurry to me, as I kept replaying my whole interaction with Momochi, my idol, in my head.
