Another new t-shirt inspired by my work from the 80s. February 15, 1984, I was making denim with metal knee pads & other decorations, so I called my first brand Hardwear by Maurice Malone. As a teen, I stonewashed clothing by hand in a concrete tub in our basement. I’d fill it with hot water, bleach and detergent, then used large pumice stones to rub the denim. The smell of the bleach was so strong I had to do this holding my breath, and dart in & out of the room for air. I wore away my finger prints – the tips of my fingers burned after each wash.
