#derailed this ask a little bit but the concept of people battling directly through Pokémon is so cool to me

I know heartswap is completely happening in Hisui but I just had this random thought about Ingo and Emmet getting heartswapped.

Everyone is praising them how well they imitate the other but they don’t imitate; they’ve been heart-swapped!

I also believe Emmet would take a heartswap the best out of all of them: after the initial freak out he’d probably try and work out what he can do as a Phione and come up with strategies for double battle with him in the middle of it all. This brings liking "winning more than anything else" to a whole new level!

This is exactly why Manaphy is not allowed on the battle subway haha. Can’t let that happen!!

It is fun to think about how Emmet (or trainers in general) would utilize battling as pokemon, though! I’ve had a concept in my head inspired from an episode of Love Death And Robots called Sonnie’s Edge (love the episode but I advise you check out the episode’s content warnings before watching to make sure the themes are manageable), where trainers use technology to sync with their pokemon and ‘pilot’ them in battles. My discord saw a little of this a few months back but maybe someday I’ll talk about it openly on this blog.

So I loved seeing the synchro machine’s appearance in SV! Seeing it labeled in the games as a prototype, I’d love to see if they ever develop that feature more into future games, maybe even narratively as well! (And in-universe, doing double battles like that sounds like it would be very popular and exhilarating, both to do and to watch!)
