In honor of the end of September, and in turn Swordtember 2023, I present my first ever mg from many a years back from when seed was my favorite Gundam show.
The only issue is the fact that this thing has the old mg hands which are terrible and should be set ablaze, especially when the hands are supposed to hold giant beam blades, I mean, wtf is this engineering.
And some surprise Demi Barding thrown in here too!
I’m really going to need some glass display cases bc I don’t want to think about how I would clean all those grooves
ANYWAY! The MGEX was a phenomenal build. I firmly believe that if you feel comfortable with at least MG’s then you can absolutely build this with 0 issues. The entire process is so incredibly smooth and holy cow ALL the important bits are undergated so there’s like almost 0 nubs that show.
Maybe one day I’ll get the MGEX Unicorn bc I’m a slut for Unicorn suits but that’s like an extra $100 beyond what the Strike Freedom cost so…probably no time soon.
Picked this up while I was out getting a stand for the ZZ once it’s finished. Never built a Real Grade before, but the person working there told me this and the Gold Frame were good ones, and I didn’t want to spend another $50+ on the Nu, High Nu, or Zeong just yet.
The MGEX Strike Freedom is done, and overall it was worth every penny that I spent on it. Lots of detailing, even without the 3D decals and the gold really pops under the armor.
Another neat thing is that all of its accessories can be stored on its body when not in use. It also comes with a pair of beam shields like the Destiny Gundam, which I did not include in the shoot.
The Strike Freedom also has a Wings of Light gimmick in the show. These effect parts are from a third party seller and are huge. Unfortunately, it also makes them a bit heavy; I recommend using separate display bases to support the weight of the wings to reduce joint strain.
HG moc-up of that Korean kit. The backpack has a set of railguns on it that can be used by the suit itself OR operated by the backpack while it’s in its flight mode. By flipping the wings around, the entire thing can be launched as a sort of special attack, with its Wings of Light and other assorted weaponry facing outward. Color choice suggested by @toacaldoric
we were gifted an MGE Strike Freedom for our wedding and after a couple months of on & off building (also a couple months of doing nothing), it's finally done!*
*the base build is done, we'll eventually get around to decals and panel lining. maybe.
real nice build, the wings hold a pose really well and nothing felt loose.
tyty to @therandomeer for this (and the Penelope i posted about a while ago), and for being super cool in general
