I was tagged by @redgoldblue to post a wip snippet, so here's an excerpt from Self-Imposed, the TMA/DGDHA crossover I've been dabbling in since before the last season of TMA aired. I stopped listening to TMA for ptsd reasons and this fic was planned while (I think) season four was airing. It's written in script format mimicking the transcripts for TMA and its basic premise is "Jon and Martin go to Seattle because they hear that a random little detective agency single-handedly stopped a Ritual and they want to know how". It covers themes of self-matyrdom, isolation, and the power of platonic and romantic love.

HENDERSON We are not embarrassed, and you do not get to come here and make assumptions about the efficiency of the Foundation when you have no understanding of what Dirk Gently and his agency do here, wandering in and out all kinds of classified situations as if he knows something, or knows nothing – like he doesn’t even recognise the Terrors at all –

MARTIN Dirk Gently as in …?

HENDERSON … We believe he originates from the United Kingdom, yes. As far as we can track him. He doesn’t seem to have any proper identification dating prior to his time there –

ARCHIVIST Wait, wait – hold on, who’s Dirk Gently?

MARTIN You know, Dirk Gently.

THE ARCHIVIST Clearly, I don’t.

MARTIN R-really? You don’t – You mean you never read any of his statements?

ARCHIVIST He left statements? Statements in – in the plural?

MARTIN He left dozens! Mostly dating in the late 2000’s, but he did leave one or two after I was hired. I thought he disappeared. Finally got … eaten, or something. I think he must have had an encounter with just about every single Entity I can think of.

HENDERSON Then you’re familiar with the … issues surrounding dealing with him.

MARTIN I never actually met him, I’ve just … I read a lot of his statements, back in the day. When I found one, I – I actually used to save them for my lunch breaks.

ARCHIVIST He wrote statements that you saved … for light reading.

MARTIN He was kind of funny, alright?
