The approximate area covered in Town Planning Scheme 1 is 51 sq. km. On the other hand, 102 sq. km is the approximate area for Town Planning Scheme 2.
However, the total Dholera smart city area will also cover 250 meters of the planned Expressway. This road will stretch for 110 KM more as a connecting link between Ahmedabad, Dholera Expressway, and Bhavnagar. Therefore, the people in Gujarat will be long-term gainers after the completion of this massive project.
Phase 1 of the Dholera smart city project is expected to be completed by 2023. However, the activation area or the area which is going to be industrial area majorly and is about 22.5 Sq. KM is still under construction will be operational.
The construction of the Dholera International Airport phase 1 will begin in 2022 and is expected to be completed by 2024. The construction of the Ahmedabad to Dholera Greenfield expressway will also be completed around the same time.
What is the Status of Dholera Smart City?
Dholera smart city is an upcoming city in Gujarat , India developed by Dholera Development Authority (DDA). Dholera SIR Phase 1 is completed with TP1 & TP2, which are industrial zones and residential zone areas with their own hub and city canter zone.
Further phase 2 will be developed in the next 10 years, and after that, phase 3, which will be developed after 20 years. Overall, Dholera SIR Project will be fully developed in 2043.

Dholera SIR earns India’s first Platinum Rating as a Greenfield Industrial Smart City, leading in sustainable development and pioneering key industries in India’s thriving economy.
Dholera SIR is India’s first Greenfield Industrial Smart City to achieve a platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Phase 1, called the Activation area, comprises 22.54 Sq Km out of the total 920 Sq Km. The Activation area is ready to accommodate industry and citizens, with more than 72 km of road and utility network on both sides of the roads. It comprises allocated areas for industries, residential, mixed-use, recreation, social infrastructure, and tourism. Land allotment for industries has already begun for contiguous land parcels ranging in size from 1 Acre to 330 Acres and more.

Dholera will offer 360-degree connectivity via Air, Road, Rail and Sea. The world-class 4-lane expressway connecting Dholera with Ahmedabad is under construction and is expected to be completed by the year 2024. The right of way has been acquired for the construction of Metro rail as well in one common corridor. The multi-modal transport system will have a regional goods corridor, public transport corridor, internal transport, Bus Rapid Transport (BRT), and Mass Rapid Transport (MRT). Dholera International Airport, a Greenfield project under implementation, is under construction, and work for phase 1 is already in progress. The airport is expected to be operational by 2025-26, which will initially cater to 3,00,000 passengers and handle more than 20,000 tonnes of cargo approximately per annum. With a 6.5 Km canal with a stormwater management system, citizens will enjoy recreational and leisure activities at the Canal front.

Providing a strong backbone to the sustainable design of Dholera is its Smart water management system. Along with the storm water canal, this robust system features a water treatment plant (WTP) of 50 MLD in Phase 1, a Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR), various Elevated Service Reservoirs in the activation area, a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 10 MLD and a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) of 20 MLD capacity in Phase 1. 
The 4400MW Solar Park project at Dholera is set to change the energy generation game of the country and will help in achieving the national goal of green energy generation of 250 GW by 2030. For the development of the solar park, 1000MW has been allotted to GPCL for implementation; out of this, 300 MW has already been commissioned by TATA Power Company Limited. The power evacuation to the grid is operational, which is laid down by GETCO, a State power transmission company.

Dholera SIR is Linear development plan both sides of Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway inside Dholera SIR will be developed by 2030 from Town Planning 1 to Town Planning 6.
The Airport Authority of India issued Rs. 987 Crore operation of Dholera International Airport Contruction and Ahmedabad to Dholera SIR Greenfield Expressway will be completed on 2023. Ahmedabad to Dholera Rapid Metro Rail transport system will be completed on 2023 and will be extended till Bhavanagar in future.

WHAT IS THE STATUS OF DHOLERA SIR NOW?
Currently, Dholera SIR Work progress was started in March, 2016 after DICDL allotted projects to two different companies working.
· 1st phase of 22.94 Sq KM is done now to welcome the activation area industrial companies.
· L&T was given the contract of construction done by 72 KMs of roads at the cost of 1734 cr.
· Cube Construction was given the contract to construct to ABCD Building where they will build the structure of 16500 sq.mtr at the cost of 73.00 crore.
· L&T is construction well and as per my last visit to Dholera SIR, it has completed almost 45% project where they are targeting the deadline of September, 2023.
· Cube construction had completed 75% of structure work where their projects deadline is September, 2023.
· The Dholera Industrial City Development (DICDL) has undertaken the implementation of 50 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Dholera in Ahmedabad District.
· Ahmedabad-Dholera Express or Dholera Metro Rail project got Environment Clearance in February, 2018 and we are expecting it’s development to be started by this year end.
· The Dholera International Airport is a part of Dholera SIR of Gujarat, India.
.The greenfield airport will be built on 1700 acres of land and 1426 hectares of Government land has been reserved for Airport at Navagam Village of Dholera, Taluka in Ahmedabad District, 29 km from Dholera SIR and 80 km from Ahmedabad. Dholera Greenfield international airport located at a distance of 100 kilometers South West of Ahmedabad.
