rori idk anything about zelda, what is it about?
hiiiiiii aiaia ignore how long ago you sent this ask pleaseeee why did I not answer this sooner who knows not me ANYWAYYYYY the legend of zelda is about a princess (zelda) and her knight (link) who are stuck in this cycle of having to continually defeat the reincarnated spirit of evil (ganondorf dragmire)!!! the lore is really fun and complex and confusing and sometimes contradictory I could go on FOREVER but basically zelda link and ganon are all cursed (it's not acknowledged at all that ganon is also a victim of the curse cause he's just the evil guy there to be evil but he very much is and this is important to me) by demise (evil chaos god I guess) to forever repeat this cycle of his evil rising and then a zelda and link having to be there to defeat it. ganon is specifically being reincarnated, each new zelda is technically from a long royal line tracing back to the first zelda, who was the mortal form of a goddess (this franchise is a little bit Divine Right Of Kings sorry), and link is really ambiguous on whether he's the same reincarnated guy or always just Some Dude who has the required hero's spirit, but to me continually falling into the same historical roles for centuries and centuries is the same as reincarnation. you are every single person who came before. so they're all reincarnated to me. and there's a triforce that is in some games a physical object and in some simply a vague magical power but it's comprised of three pieces, the triforces of power, wisdom, and courage. ganon, zelda, link. the triforces are more relevant in earlier games though which I haven't played so i can't talk as much about that (there's also 3 goddesses in the earlier games who correspond with each triforce) the zelda goddess and demise came around in the recent games so I know more about that. but basically the franchise is about generational curses and also how zelda and link were in love at the start and have been in love for the rest of time and about how girl your sworn knight is gnc af lol I'm normal about all that. I think nintendo should give ganon some more depth that would be neat. oh also just realized you may have the possibly common?? misconception that the entire franchise is all a linear narrative cause I certainly thought that, but it's not. most of the individual games are a self contained story with maybe a sequel or two to a specific game sometimes which is why I haven't REALLY gone into themes cause like. each game has something a bit different going on, knowledge of the other games just heightens each individual one. well actually 3 of the 4 I've played all the way through are pretty interconnected so I could absolutely ramble for a bit on that but you asked me about the franchise as a whole lmao
