Traveling Warriors AU Drabble
AU Idea
TW for mentions of death
~~~~
The two of them were camping for the night. It's one night of many for them, lying down in the grassy plains beneath the artificial stars in the night sky.
Riot had long since passed out, Aldamon taking the first watch. He thought that, since things had been getting better between the two, he'd finally get a peaceful night of rest. That the nightmares he'd been experiencing would stop, or at least change.
How wrong he was.
There was a sharp pain in his stomach, in his heart.
Blood - H̶̩͎̔̾i̴̝̲͚͌̚s̴̙̊͗ ̷͈͗͐b̷̙̘͙͊͑͛l̵̗̂ȍ̶̝̻͠ô̸̡̼̓̄d̶͕̤́̈ - splattered across the ground and wall. Staining his clothes, his hands, his friends-
"O̵̗̣͛͆͛͜͜͠n̴̰̙̩̮͋̚e̴̡̛̩̾̑ͅ ̶̬̱͙͋̿d̵͍̼̞̟͋̈́̈o̸͈̒͌͜͠w̶̨̞̝̹̃̓́͝n̴͎̪̎͑.̷̬͔͇̂͜.̶̝͚̋̐.̵̙͕̮͛̑͜ ̴̦͖̳̬̿f̴̱̘̣̼̓ḭ̶͓͗̈v̷̬̪̾̽̾̓e̷̠͐́̔ ̵͍̮̥̥̎ẗ̵̹̳̞̲́o̴̜̅ ̴̜͕̦̪̉̍g̸̜̱͒̎͝o̸̡̠͑͂͠.̴̫̯̀́̃̍͜"
Red eyes glared down at him through a fog, as a roar of rage echoed around his mind, ringing out. Flames ignited around him, burning, raging, grieving-
He clutched his head with bloodstained hands, blurring his vision-
It shifted all again, and he was sitting on a pier. There was a figure next to him - A woman, so familiar and yet so unknown - her face a red blur. Faint humming in the background, singing a song that he knew but could not remember-
A sudden weight dropped on his chest.
Riot's eyes snapped open, his breath short as he tried to sit up. His vision was red, but not completely, like something was sitting in front of him-
"Flamemon?" he croaked, looking down. There, head pressed against his chest, was his partner. The mon was once more a monkey, curled up against him and not looking at him. Riot took a quick glance around - No danger, it seemed. That was good.
He cleared his throat, trying to ignore the cold sweat in favor of finding answers. "Wha- What are you doing, bud?"
"..." Flamemon was silent for a few moments, shifting a bit. "...Your heart sounded strange. It still does."
He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
The monkey looked up at him, frowning. His expression was... hard to read. Hand curled into a fist, clenching his shirt. "It... sounded like it stopped. And now it's slow again."
Riot sighed. He could feel his heartbeat - It had been a bit slow, compared to before. But that was normal now. The fact it stopped was worrying, but he was fine.
He was here and he was alive and he was-
"You all watch as Riot's body collapses to the ground. He is not moving. You can see the red staining the back of his jean vest..."
...Riot hugged Flamemon close, ignoring the slow beating of his heart.
"I'm fine, buddy," he whispered, clenching the fist at his side.
He was fine.
Another drabble for this AU incoming whenever I get to it. Still angsty but not as bad as this one (I think)
Domestic AU Drabble
A Boy, His Monkey, and His Dog
~~~~
Lazy days were Riot's favorite thing.
No life-threatening situations, no wild adventures, no boring chores - Just a break from everything where they got to lie down and relax. It was nice.
Everyone was off doing their own things, taking advantage of the day. He was lying down on his bed, eyes closed as one of his metallica albums played in the background. He had it on a low volume, knowing some people were resting in different rooms.
Mongrel had her head resting on his stomach, sleeping as he scratched her behind the ears. She snorted a little, rolling on to her side as her tail thumped repeatedly against the sheets. She was a comforting presence to have around, if not a heavy one.
Flamemon was here too, curled up next to him. The mon's nose scrunched up slightly in his sleep, body tensing up. Riot reached a hand out, burying it in the monkey kid's hair and trying to help him relax. It seemed to work, as after a moment he buried his face into his side, body relaxing again.
The house itself was relatively quiet, which was somewhat surprisng to him despite knowing the reason why. Outside, things were a lot more active - Birds chirping at one another, insects buzzing overhead, wind rustling the leaves of nearby trees, muffled slightly by the walls. Sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a warm blanket over him and his companions.
Riot hummed, cracking a small smile.
Yeah.
This was nice.

Some fluff for the boy and his friends
Because I have some small angst planned in the future
Wrote this at a really late time (which does not do well for my brain), so there might be some errors. I'll probably look at it again in the morning and edit if need be

Two-Shot, Pt 1: Sleepy
It was a long day of running around Data City for the gang, trying to chase down a thief who had robbed ToyAgumon's shop, before having to fight said criminal and their gang. The Digimon are tired.
(Mostly) Fluff ahead!
Originally gonna be one but I separated it into two
~~~~
Salamon was following tiredly but dutifully after Sammi as the girl skated ahead of him, his entire body aching. Despite the pain, he said nothing. He didn’t want her to worry too much – She had panicked when she saw them get slammed into a wall as Sistermon Noir. It wasn’t that painful in the moment, but it sure was painful now.
The fight, plus the news they received from StoneHedge? He thinks that they all deserve a break. Thankfully, CJ had provided them with places that could possibly let them relax, which would hopefully help them out.
Though, Sammi seemed rather calm, humming to herself. Perhaps she was already in a better mood.
In truth, Sammi was not in a better mood. Her mind was racing with everything that had happened and she was desperately hoping for something to distract her. It’s how she’s dealt with most of her past problems, shoving them to the back of her mind and focusing on something else.
Thank goodness for CJ and his suggestions!
A lot of cool sights flashed around her as she skated, which did help to distract her. But, it didn’t completely banish all the thoughts swirling in the back of her head. She was still worried for Salamon and Flamemon, after what had happened to them during that fight. Yeah, everyone had it pretty rough then, but those two had gotten the short end of the stick.
With those thoughts floating about her mind, she decided to glance back at her partner. He had been mostly quiet for a while, was he alright–?
Wait, where was he?!
Sammi immediately skidded to a stop, looking around with a panicked look. “Salamon?! Where’d you go?!”
Digimon around her gave her funny or annoyed looks, but she didn’t care. She skated off, trying to find her partner, panic fueling her search. “Salamon?!”
“Here!” it was a weak response, as the dog digimon came sprinting into view. He tripped, tumbling across the sidewalk and wincing. He groaned, but quickly got to his feet, shaking himself. He looked up at Sammi and gave what he hoped was a reassuring smile (it wasn’t). “I’m here.”
She rushed over to him, picking him up with ease and holding him close. She was worried, scanning him over. “Are you okay?! What happened?”
Salamon winced. Exhaustion had finally caught up to him earlier, causing him to suddenly pass out for a few moments. “I promise you I’m fine. Just… tired is all.”
“Why didn’t you say anything? We could have just stayed back at the hotel.”
“I didn’t want to worry you. You seemed eager to explore… and I think you needed the distraction.”
Her expression softened, though she still felt worried. “Well– Still! We could have just found something at the hotel to do instead. Grayson would probably let us play some games.”
Salamon hummed, slumping against her as his body ached again. “You are… probably correct.”
The girl looked around, thinking to herself quietly, before looking at her partner. “Your call. You wanna head back to the hotel or keep moving?”
The dog thought on it for a moment, his expression thoughtful. He was really curious about the sights that CJ had told them about. They had all sounded very interesting. But… his body protested the thought of it. “Can we head back to the hotel?”
“Of course! Let’s go.”
And with that, Sammi skated off, carrying the dozing Salamon back to the hotel. They’d see those places after they got a bit of rest.
Grayson was typing away at his computer, ignoring the growing darkness outside as he completely focused on his work. He was still trying to figure out what had been going wrong with the Terminals and why the Firewalls had been glitching out. Yet nothing he was doing seemed to be working…
Terriermon was atop his head, watching as he worked. His eyes were squinting at the brightness of the scene, a light headache forming as he scrunched his face and closed his eyes. “How come you’re not tired yet? We ran across the whole city today and had to fight a whole gang.”
Grayson shrugged. “Well, I wasn’t involved too much in the fight. If I remember right, you were the one doing most of the fighting.”
“Well, of course. I couldn’t let those amateurs get away with heisting from our good friend ToyAgumon now, could I?”
“Of course not,” Grayson replied, amused. His partner was very proud of his reputation as an adorable little scoundrel. He had his own reputation as the computer geek of the group to live up to. So, he continued working on his project, pulling up multiple lines of code and windows containing his previous notes.
Terriermon huffed, but tried not to interrupt as his partner worked on the computer. Bored as he was, he knew how important it was to figure out why the Firewalls and Terminals were glitching out so badly. If they didn’t, then they wouldn’t be able to communicate with Jordie or Luci. Which would be really bad.
Grayson continued to work, only taking a few small breaks to grab a snack to eat (and to yell at E.R. over DigiMail, because where the fuck is he it’s literally dark now and he hasn’t shown up yet–). Terriermon continued to sit on his head, eyes drooping as he listened to the never-ending sound of keys clicking as they were hit.
The boy was so focused on his work (and slowly growing frustrated by it), that he did not notice his partner’s eyes slowly closing. Terriermon tried to stay awake, his head jerking up and face scrunching up as he held back a yawn. Unfortunately, it did not work – Today took a lot out of him.
Trying to resist sleep was futile, and so he didn’t.
Grayson continued working, until Terriermon promptly fell off his head and almost hit the screen.
“Holy–!”
He jumped, scrambling to catch his partner before he hit the keyboard or floor. He held him close, looking over him with a worried look. “Terriermon! What happened? Are you alright?”
The Digimon was blinking, startled by his fall. He tried to reorientate himself, shaking his head and looking at his partner. “Y–Yeah. Yeah, ‘m fine. Guess I was just, uh, more tired than I thought.”
“Tired–? Right, from earlier,” Grayson mumbled to himself. Hm… It was a pretty long fight. And Terriermon did throw a lot of attacks. He guessed it shouldn’t be too surprising that he was tired after all that. He thought for a moment, then sat back down, placing Terriermon on his lap. The Digimon tilted his head.
“There. This way, if you pass out again, you aren’t gonna fall.”
Terriermon grinned, then settled against his partner, getting comfortable. It wasn’t long before his eyes began to close again. “Don’t stay up too late, Grayson.”
“No promises.”
He was too tired to argue, and so he didn’t, snoring away as more typing filled the air.
~~~~
Monodramon was watching from the sidelines of the park as E.R. was doing skateboard tricks. He would have joined his partner – Actually, he really wanted to join him, some of those tricks looked fun – but he felt really tired. It might have been because of the fight they were in earlier – But how could it be? It wasn’t hard, of course, at least not for him. He was the Champion Rookie after all – Nothing was too hard for him.
It was just… a normal, but tiring fight. So, he just decided he’d take a break and watch his partner when E.R. decided to go out to practice on his board. He’d learn how to actually skateboard at another time.
Well, try to watch, at least.
He felt his body grow heavy, his eyelids even heavier. His head slowly began to nod before he jerked it up, blinking rapidly as he tried to keep his focus on his partner. His brain felt fuzzy, his thoughts clouding together as his consciousness drifted.
E.R. landed with a whoop, skidding across the concrete with a wide grin on his face. He did a flip just for the fun of it, too. "Heck yeah! You see that, bud–?"
He turned to look at Monodramon and saw his partner with his head drooped, eyes struggling to stay open. He frowned, worry crossing his face as he quickly jogged over to his partner. "Monodramon! Are you okay?"
The mini dragon blinked, lifting his head. "H-Huh? O-Oh... Yeah, 'm okay... just..." His head drooped again. "… tired…"
E.R. looked over Monodramon, frowning when he saw how exhausted the Digimon seemed. "Yeah… Guess the excitement from earlier took the energy out of you, huh?"
"I guess…"
He hummed, quickly looking around before deciding to sit down and settle next to his partner. He wrapped an arm around Monodramon, basically side-hugging him. "Should be fine to rest here for a bit."
"But…" Monodramon began to protest, but E.R. just smiled at him. It was something he always did, something that was comforting and reassuring. The protest died in his throat, and he decided, 'Well, a little nap wouldn't hurt.'
He leaned against his partner, eyes slowly closing. He was a bit tired, thinking about it now. And E.R. felt really comfortable and warm. Safe. "…Okay E.R. If you say so…"
E.R. smiled, hugging Monodramon as the Digimon began to drift off to sleep. He'd probably wake him up after a few minutes, just so that the two could head back to the hotel. It was a long day, and his friend deserved a bit of rest.
He leaned back against what felt like a cool, flat surface, feeling a cool breeze blow over both of them. He brushed his hair out of his face, then yawned, his own eyes drooping. Now that he actually stopped, he realized he was pretty tired too. So it probably wouldn't be that bad to take his own nap either. Just for a few minutes at least.
He settled against the surface behind him, holding Monodramon close, before closing his eyes and drifting off. There was a lazy, relaxed smile on both of their faces as they slept, the night peaceful and quiet around them.
…They would then proceed to wake up to a thousand messages on their digivice and some marker graffiti from Numemon on their faces hours later. But that was for the future E.R. and Monodramon to deal with.

Riot was trying to work on a new project with the Data Re-Organizer. His eyebrows were furrowed, frowning as he tried to focus. His focus seemed to be elsewhere, though, and the machine spat his materials back out into his lap. He growled under his breath, frustrated, and he turned away from the machine.
His gaze fell on Flamemon, lying down on the bed behind him. The Digimon seemed to be drowsy, eyes drooping as he rested his head on his arms. However, his arm seemed to be bothering him, as he kept scratching at the tight bandages wrapped around the limb.
Riot turned away, clenching his fist. That was his fault. His partner got hurt because he couldn't help out. If he had just paid more attention– If he had just been able to hold his own– If he wasn't so weak–
He shut his eyes, quickly banishing the words from his mind. No. Not a good train of thought. They talked about this. He wasn't weak, and neither were the others. It was just... frustrating. To not be able to protect the people he cared about.
"…Riot?"
He turned at the sound of his name, unclenching his fist as he gave a weak smile. "Yeah? What's up bud?"
Flamemon slowly lifted his head. "You okay? You stopped working on... whatever it was, you were doing."
"Yeah, 'm fine! Just… thinking."
“That’s dangerous,” Flamemon mumbled, grinning cheekily. Riot barked out a laugh, returning the grin with one of his own. “Ow! Don’t you usually use those kinda quips on your boyfriend?”
The Digimon scowled immediately, burying his face in his arm. “Shuddup, he’s not!”
Riot laughed again, reaching out to ruffle the wild mane of hair the monkey child possessed. Flamemon swatted his hand away, but he had a smile on his face, hidden under his arm. “Fine fine, I’ll stop.”
“Thank you.”
Flamemon settled back down on the bed, blinking at his partner. He was studying him quietly, trying to fight off the sleepy feeling that crept up on him. “…Hey, Riot?”
“Yeah?”
“Why don't you take a nap?"
Riot raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
Flamemon shrugged. “It’s been a long day. You’re probably stressed by the fight earlier and working with the Data Reorganizer clearly isn’t helping you relax. It’d be a nice break.”
The young man scratched his head as he thought about it. Well, his partner was right. A nap would probably be a nice break. “Y’know what? Doesn’t sound like too bad of an idea. Scoot over.”
His partner tilted his head, confused.
“What? You don’t expect me to sleep on the floor right? Scoot over, I’m getting on the bed with ya.”
“Oh, uh, okay–”
Flamemon rolled over in the bed, making space as Riot pulled himself off the floor. He then flopped down onto the bed, briefly sending his partner flying.
“Woah–!”
“Ah shit, sorry–! Guh–”
The Digimon landed down on his partner, knocking the wind out of both of them. Flamemon gave a tired glare, to which Riot gave a sheepish smile. “Sorry…”
“…I’m using you as a pillow for that.”
“Yeah, that’s fair.”
The two rearranged themselves, where Flamemon was half resting on Riot, while Riot lay flat out on the bed. The Digimon gave him another tired, though amused, glare, before closing his eyes. The Tamer returned it with a grin, before resting his head back on the pillows and closing his eyes too.
Time to rest, and leave the worries for another day.

Back at it again: AguniDusk ship dynamics (full lines) + ship dynamics for Rie (Riot/ER)
Alrighty! *Cracks knuckles*
I'm probably only going to do up till Ultimate, mostly because Impmon's Mega hasn't been released. When it has though, I will come back and update this. Or make it its own separate post.
First up is AguniDusk. Put under the cut because of slight spoilers.
ROOKIE LEVEL:
Flamemon - Impmon? The guy's a braggart and a dumbass sometimes, but he's fun to hang out with. The two are always butting heads with one another, though there's never any real hostility between the two - Just some friendly competition.
Impmon - Flamemon? That guy thinks he's so great! Well, he kinda is, but there ain't no way Impmon's gonna tell him that. He definitely enjoys the other mon's company, even if they are always trying to one-up each other.
CHAMPION LEVEL:
Agunimon - Well, now the guy actually has some bite to his bark. He's very interested in seeing who's the stronger of the two and enjoys when the two of them spar. There's a lot of obvious tension between them, something he's a little more aware of compared to Duskmon. He uses that awareness to tease the other mon, dropping hints every now and then.
Duskmon - He's always been bragging that he's strong. Now that they're both the same level, he can actually prove it! Wait, why is he making those remarks - It flusters the other mon, who has yet to realize the tension between them. He thinks that Agunimon is just joking with him and tries to tease him back (which is surprisingly effective)
ULTIMATE LEVEL:
Aldamon - His emotions are a mess. He's too furious to really focus on anything other than his failures. In the back of his mind though, he does find himself missing the others, most specifically his rival. The feelings that come with those thoughts make the gaping hole in his chest even bigger.
Umbramon - Though he acts cocky and confident all the time, he does still think about Aldamon. He won't admit it, but he definitely misses him and the bond the two shared. He's hoping to cross paths with him again sometime soon, whether that's to spar or just talk with each other.
