"Bara Basti" Tour, Kohima, Nagaland
Nagaland, is one of India's seven sister states, with Kohima as its highland capital. The original name, "Kewhira," was derived from the Kewhi flowers that may be found in the region; the anglicized name "Kohima" was given by the British. It is a legendary location with a long history that is famous for its pristine beauty and otherworldly setting. It is 1500 meters above sea level and is in a beautiful environment with stunning hills and emerald trees. It is the go-to place for all of you adventure enthusiasts since it is the perfect place for trekking, camping, and hiking.
The British founded Kohima, where the Naga and Kulkis tribes now reside. Their independence and the baffling and colorful culture that surrounds them may surprise one. Kohima is known for being the location of a violent battle with the Japanese that lasted 64 days during World War II. Numerous World War II warriors are buried in the Commonwealth War Cemetery, one of the most popular destinations in the area. More attractions, such as a museum, zoo, sanctuary, valleys, independent villages, and much more, are available to tourists in the city.
Please don't hesitate to get in contact with one of our experienced Trip Counselors if you have any questions about the educational and cost-effective Kohima trips we provide.

A Comprehensive Nagaland Tourist Guide
Tumblr media
Nagaland is a state in India's far north-eastern region, with an area of 16,527 square kilometres. It is bounded on the west by Assam, on the north by Arunachal Pradesh and a portion of Assam, on the east by Myanmar, and on the south by Manipur. Kohima serves as the state capital, while Dimapur serves as the biggest city. It became a state on 1 December 1963.
The state is home to sixteen significant tribes: Ao, Angami, Chang, Konyak, Lotha, Sumi, Chakhesang, Khiamniungan, Kachari, Phom, Rengma, Sangtam, Yimchungrü, Kuki, Zeliang, and Pochury. Each tribe has its own particular personality, rituals, language, and clothes. Two threads run through them all: English is widely spoken, and Nagaland is one of three states in India with a primarily Christian population.
Nagaland is an incredible package in and of itself, offering thrills, excitement, stunning scenery, a relaxing wind throughout the surroundings, and an exciting journey across steep terrain.
What is Nagaland famous for?
Nagaland is well-known for its magnificent natural beauty and rich natural environment, which provide limitless options for adventure activities like climbing, trekking, backpacking, jungle safari, and water activities. However, it is Nagaland's cultural richness that draws visitors to this northeastern state.
Nagaland's Angami Naga Tribe
Nagaland culture is a synthesis of the region's sixteen main tribes and other ethnic groupings.
Nagaland Attractions
Apart from visiting major tourist attractions, there are several experiences and activities available for Northeast India tour.
• Participate in the annual Aoleang Festival, Mon in Nagaland which takes place in April. This is an excellent opportunity to discover and understand Nagaland's culture and customs while also mixing with the people.
• Attend the annual Hornbill National Rock Concert, which helped to establish Nagaland as a global destination. The ten-day musical event features performances by artists and musicians from throughout the world.
• Trek to Mount Saramati, among the most popular professional trek routes in the Eastern Himalayas. The walk begins in Salumi and continues all the way to the border between India and Myanmar.
• Consider mountain riding through the rainforest paths of the Naga Hills, which are home to Himalayan flora and animals.
• Consider camping in Shilloi Lake. Surrounded by valleys and pine trees, the lake region provides spectacular views and possibilities for stargazing. Additionally, you may rent a kayak or join a birding excursion to observe unusual migrating species.
Conclusion
Nagaland is one of India's seven north-eastern states (The Seven Sisters), with Kohima as its capital city. The Naga and Patkai mountain ranges and Mon in Nagaland are significant features that serve as wonderful representations of the mountainous area. Famous rivers including Doyang, Barak, and Diphu trace the contours of lovely mountains on their way to joining the enormous Brahmaputra. This Northeast India tour  has attempted to include as much information as possible about this lovely state.
