when helen is smashing statues and the other's cheer her on and then join in but then try to stop her when she pulls out the lighter: people love a black woman's anger when it's palatable and relatable and you can participate but the second it puts your comfort in danger, the second it's truly "disruptive", that's when she's "going too far" that's when she "needs to call down"
