One of my intial notes when watching 2001 was that all the spaceships and structures appear to just float aimlessly around. (Especially with the music playing) there’s no direction or indication they’re being moved etc- like no visual propulsion
Then I watched a plane go by and I’m an idiot.

Note
It’s revealed Max forced tlb to turn Michael and then they were going to turn Sam, not to mention “he took his time to broach the topic of a relationship with Lucy” the movie takes place over like, a MONTH MAXIMUM. Also you can think max is a sweet and goofy guy, cause that’s the point of the movie. You are supposed to second guess that he is the head vamp. he is the true main villain cause it represents how in real life, the true monsters are people who are “clean cut,” have a good reputation, and seem unsuspecting. Meanwhile people like the lost boys (punks, alternative, young rowdy kids, etc.) are seen as bad people even though they probably aren’t. Also max is going to have a strong persona as a good person so he isn’t caught as a vampire, loose his video store business, or his reputation.
I said he was goofy not that he wasn’t still a villain, the movies pretty clear that vampires are bad guys I’m not exactly denying that. My main issue was with the “abusive dad” angle when that just doesn’t seem to be true? Sure there’s that power imbalance in that he’s the head vampire but that’s not exactly instantly “he’s the worst ever”
And again yeah he was taking his time there was no indication he was going to just Turn Lucy at the end without the boys rushing through things. He might’ve taken longer/a month is a long time when it comes to something like this he’s old he has patience 🤷‍♂️
I’m not saying he’s good good I’m saying more that yes the goofy disguise is cute and really clever if it would’ve worked out. And that a lot of the more abusive parent elements seems to be projection than any actual textual basis for it— that’s my main argument. Even then vampire relationships are complicated and long lasting like djsksksmsmsm
Again
My point is also how come every time someone likes or tries to explain he’s demonized a bit too much from the fandom there’s a lecture. But the boys actions are 100% excused either because they’re young or hot (real reason) or “forced” when there’s no evidence for it etc.
I’m really tired of it because it’s ok to like characters who are antagonists, bad guys, evil etc (WHICH INCLUDES THE BOYS IM SORRY BUT IT DOES)
