Things I have discovered today:
1. If you have figs and wine and spices, you can poach your figs in red wine and spices. This is a fantastic way to feel like an ancient Roman and also delicious.
1b. After you have done this, and you have ladled the figs into jars and poured hot wine over it, there will be a little liquid left in the pan. This is figgy mulled wine and, well, wouldn't it be a shame to waste it?
(It is also - possibly even more - delicious)
