thin light, underlining the door. a foot creaks on old floorboards, golden oak made black in the dark corridor. everything begins with one step. then another. the cracked window at his back sends a wisp of cold air hurrying ahead, toward the light. another step and the corridor sighs, distorts, walls sagging, the passage growing long, like a great tongue unfurling. he remembers the charm around his neck, Dogtooth, gifted by the Good Twin. his fingers brush against the smooth bone. Run the other way, the floorboards seem to say with each careful step as the body moves forward.
decided to make a Swap dog day.. well in the terms that dogday and catnap changed themes.
originally I thought of swap dog day’s breed of dog being either a German Shepard or a breed of dog from the hound family. it would make sense that the prototype had a swap dog day that’s species was loyal and protective. i dubbed this version NightHound.
However i ended up going with a more literal idea. since catnaps main schtick and depictions in official art work have been sleepy.. what dog breed came to my mind the fastest was the Pug. And so i went with it. And here he is, .. i haven’t really thought of one.. Two that came to mind were Hushpup or Dogdream. A Critter that’s often drowsy and sleepy. Slumbering patiently and always waking up fully when trouble arises.
the twins rose out of the marsh, horror-movie style. they were identical down to their clothes. grey dresses hung off their bodies stretched unnaturally, their forms languid as they floated, hand in hand, over the bog-water and onto the spongy forest floor where the team of wayward travelers had set up camp. Alma, the Prophet, had been with them for some time now. it was hard to say how long. such was the way of dreams.
"Hello," the twins greeted, the same voice echoing. it was a watery sound, like river on rock. their lower halves pooled, their limbs became syrupy, melting back into thick puddles that leaked away slowly toward the marshes.
Alma greeted them with a bow. Blue-Jay, moody, asked, "Who are you?"
"We are Good and Bad," they responded as one. Dream Elements. more powerful than they appeared.
Blue-Jay did not like this answer. "But you look the same. How do we know which is which?"
