So, we know catboys purr, as per a (lovely) previous post; do they also meow? or have other cat-like vocalisations? (same for dogboys)

If they do, do they ever do these in front of their owners, or are they strictly between each other?

((If the latter, do they prefer to communicate with each other in this way or do they usually just speak normally? Is it trained out of them?))

vocalization is different from human language in that its innate/biological and not learned (sorry to the chomsky lovers but i disagree with him and his posse), so cat/dogpeople are born knowing how to vocalize. cat/dogkids vocalize the most, especially with their parents, and as they get older they vocalize less. i wouldnt say its trained out of them intentionally, but human language is more useful in daily life so they use human language more. if they go "feral" they will forget human language and only communicate with each other through body language and vocalizations. naturalists like goodsir have lots of theories about this but linguistics as a science hasn't been invented yet so thankfully there hasnt been any unethical experimentation on "feral" cat/dogpeople (yet).

because there isn't any social stigma against vocalizing, they do it in front of each other and also humans, it's usually unintentional though. like a stressed dogboy might growl and a scared catboy might hiss but its an instinctive reaction to stimuli and not like a finely crafted performance to convey a message, unless you're hickey because his whole life is a performance. like you arent supposed to be able to control your purrs, if you could then little wouldve saved himself a lot of embarrassment during certain wardroom officer meetings, but hickeys a little freak whose really good at faking them to seem harmless/happy even when he's not. the fact goodsir can tell hickey's being disingenuous is a testament to goodsir's professional skills and his ability to see through hickey's shenanigans.

How does Max meet Sharky? 🐶🦈🤔 (Max's past)

This will be a few posts me thinks BUTTTTTTTTT........I did say i wanted to post about Max's past lol...And i haven't been posting as much sooooo i'll throw y'all a bone. :p

How does Max meet Sharky?

Sharky was about 8 or 9 and Max was about 7 or 8 whenever they encountered each other for the first time.

Sharky had gone with Amber out into town for errands/for fun/to get out of the Campsite for a bit. Sharky finds Amber shopping for clothes kind of boring and thus ends up going outside where it's just rained a bit ago. Even as a kid, we see Sharky absolutely adores the rain and is busy jumping in puddles and messing around. He's doing stuff you'd expect from a kid like trying to hop from one puddle to another without touching dry ground and whatnot…As Sharky's going along and playing, he hears a sound in an alleyway…

Sharky peers into the alleyway nervously before seeing it's another kid, just like him!! Sharky sees the kid has tumped a trash can over and is seemingly digging through trash, looking for food to eat…Along with other random stuff like batteries and random trinkets…Sharky watches this filthy dog boy dig around a bit more before speaking and introducing himself, wanting to talk and play with this other kid. This dogkid however…Quickly seems very skittish and offstandish, backing away some and looking at Sharky a bit fearfully…Sharky assumes the fear is the typical fear…And thus he's like "Look, i know i'm a shark but I'm not mean!!! I don't want to eat you or hurt you!!"

The dogkid raises an eyebrow after a moment and is like "………..The hell are you going on about? The hell is a shark?" Which…Absolutely busts Sharky's bubble there. Sharky stares in awe and is like "…You're not afraid I'm gonna eat you?" And the dogkid is like "…Wtf? No!!! I'm scared you're gonna rob me!!! Hands off!! The trash is mine to eat!!" And Sharky just…Takes a moment to understand the situation moreso…Sharky sees all the trash and looks at the dogkid again, seeing how dirty and malnourished he is…Sharky looks at him confused and is like "…Why are you eating trash?" And the dogkid is like "Cuz i don't have anything else to eat and I'm starving…"

Sharky takes this in and then feels bad, sitting down on the ground, opening up his jacket and getting a rice krispie treat out, handing it over. The dogkid stares and is like "…You're really gonna just give me that?" Sharky nods and says "Amber gave it to me. But i wasn't hungry when she gave it to me so i was saving it for later…But…You're hungry and I'm not still so…Take it."

The dogkid stares a moment, wondering if this is a trick before snatching the treat and devouring it rapidly, pretty much in like 2 or 3 bites which impresses Sharky. The dogkid finishes, wipes his mouth off and then he feels comfortable enough to introduce himself. "…Thanks for that…My names Max by the way i guess…" Sharky just seems giddy that he's made a new friend and introduces himself back.

After a bit, Amber comes looking for Sharky only to find him hanging out with Max whoms…Again, filthy and very malnourished…Amber sees Max and feels absolutely horrible considering this is a child and she's like "…Where are your parents?" And all Max can do is shrug and be like "…I guess i don't have any, idk…"

Amber feels even worse hearing this and Sharky at this point is like "Amberrrrrr, i don't wanna say bye to my new friend though!!!" And Amber is thinking and is like "…I don't think it's a good idea to let your new friend suffer on the streets by himself…"

And thus…Amber talks with Max some and encourages him to come home with her and Sharky. Sharky is very very excited for this idea and Max…Is very scared but…He definitely wants to get off the streets so…He decides to take a leap of faith and go for it… ----------- I shall post another thing xd, gib sec

In your Purror and Terrebark au, could a human in theory basically baby trap a catboy/dogboy (being gender neutral in this case I guess) They don't technically own by just having too-humanoid children with them and owning them after that? (I thought of how I could do this with Little before wondering if that'd actually fit with the worldbuilding)

it took me a while to parse this sentence but once i did i CACKLEDDDD im sorry to say that ur babytrapping dreams would unfortunately fail because likely what would happen is that little would be put down for creating "ungodly" interspecies spawn, rip. even if little were to knock up another catperson he would likely still belong to crozier since its not a guarantee that the father of the cat/dogkids is involved in their lives. these arrangements aren't always about love, sometimes it's like "your parents found a match for you that your owners approve of and if you impregnate this stranger they will get off your back and you can continue living your life" and thats considered normal. even in cases where you love the other cat/dogperson, your relationship to your human still triumphs so if they dont wanna transfer your adoption status to the human who owns your partner then its within their rights to deny you. it would be cruel of them, but legally gucci. in croziers case he would be perfectly fine transferring littles adoption status to someone else if little asked him to, but little would never ask this of him and would probably cry if crozier ever suggested it
