Veylin's bust painting is my fav ive done of any of those, i'm still rlly proud of nohope and planhz's sprites, i reaaaaaally love how i did the color and overlays on that abby headshot, and the dogy is an artfight attack from last year that is everything i love about my older lineless art style!!!

Alright buckle up folks this is a longer one

So I'm gonna answer this in two parts basically. The first part is artists that inspired me to start drawing what I like, especially fantrolls-- so a lot of my friends really!! Wanting to be in this community is what made me start actually doing art as something I was passionate about!!!!! The second part is actually twitter artists that inspired me to actually renovate my art style, try new things, and actually grow as an artist in ways that I really just never did here before.

I know I'm gonna forget a lot of people but the ones that come to mind right away for people who had an Impact on me back in the day are !!U!! gabriel 8bit-mau5, newt indig0trolls, my friend max who's no longer in the community, my friend lumiet who doesn't even do fantrolls but is really cool, and god a lot of old blogs whos muns are just gone now..................... wistful sigh :(

BUUUUUT as for artists who made me want to actually grow again in my. Wait hold on

Some of the artists who made me actually want to learn and change and GROW again are giraffeleggos, mielzy_png, and WolfyTheWitch on twt :3 Mielzy especially is an art streamer who has a huge focus on being introspective and taking criticism and wanting to grow and always be improving in a direction they want. Hella cool to see someone be like, never satisfied in a "i love art and drawing so i want to grow and do it as well as i can as a respect for the craft" type of way. I don't think any of these guys except for Wolfy are actually into dsmp anymore but when I got into their content they were all dsmp fanartists so.

Okay this is really long actually so I'll quit there. Oh wait easy simple. The whole fuckin aliquid ex nihilo comic. That took me so goddamn long but it was a labor of love and I desperately want to do more 1-page song comics like that but unfortunately they take me like 2 weeks if I do full lineart and that shit sucks

There are a lot of things I want to redo on it that are also things I redid in the process of making this comic but as is the nature of being so used to drawing sprites I forget how to draw people in actual poses and also interacting with things. I still think overall just because also of how funky I got with the coloring, framing, the fact that this is the first comic ive ever planned and fully completed ever, etc. that this one's my fav thing I've drawn in 2022 thus far

HOW STRICTLY DO YOU FOLLOW CANON?

Putting it bluntly: Functionist alt. dimension Rung has a whole lot of plot holes. Swiss cheese boy. I’ve made liberal changes here and there so that he can play with a majority of muses in the MTMTE/LL community, but I’ve also taken a lot of free reign giving Rung’s general lack of backstory in-between spoiler/plot beats :P

SELL YOUR MUSE! (aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutual.)

Rung is a very rare type of character, being an ostensibly ‘masculine’ character (in regards of a human binary lens) who prides himself on empathy, understanding, and caring for others’ physical and mental wellbeing in ways that often linger in more ‘feminine’ realms (again, in approx. to the human binary); it interests me to be able to explore such concepts in a territory where, considering lore and implied history, there’s no societal concept of (human ideal culturally-imposed) gender. He’s a creator ‘deity’, he literally produces souls, but nothing about his design is meant to emphasize a human sense of reproduction/fertility/etc. Most people would never look at him and conclude who and what he is. There’s also the fact that he’s been methodically documented, experimented on, taken apart, and then tortured for approx. 2 million years and yet he refused to let that break him. Rung is unflinchingly kind, willing to reach a hand out to anyone who needs a shoulder to lean on even when he has nothing of his own to offer. Hell, he studied medicine and philosophy so he could build the foundations for the Cybertronian method of behavioral psychology because even without memories of being Primus, Rung wants to take care of his creations. ...And then you add in how absolutely adorable it is to watch this old man dodder about with his puzzles and models and big googly glasses and I love him so much okay--

To be honest, Rung can be kind of a Mary Sue/over powered character in some people’s eyes. Like, what, this random character who’s new to the franchise and made specifically by the author is actually Transformers God who suffered amnesia? And is friendly and polite to everyone but also has a streak of keeping a grudge and survives literal untold horrors because his body can just heal itself?? And he spits out crystals that make up sparks??? OH AND HE’S MILLIONS OF YEARS OLD AND DID I MENTION HE’S GOD SOMEHOW AND THEN HE STRAIGHT UP JUST DIES TWICE IN CANON, WOW

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RP YOUR MUSE?

H,,,, Him round,,,,,,,, No really I just loved his design that much. Him round. Also both my mom and my granddad are shrinks so I have, like, a basic grasp on psych stuff after reading through their textbooks and watching my granddad’s old research films and study tapes, so it was familiar territory I settled on writing Functionist!Rung in specific because I sympathize with having weird + painful medical shit inflicted on you all the time and because the idea of someone so genuine and careful being the core of a revolutionary movement is really,,, makes my heart squeeze.

venussssss is someone i’ve only known for the last little bit of this decade , but i feel like i’ve known venus for an eternity and a half. she knows her characters inside and out and develops them so well       like i’m 99% sure she just owns erik stevens’ at this point. possibly created him , too. marvel who? but beyond all that , she’s an amazing friend who is always down to just shoot the shit with or be there if i’m going Through It and helping me keep things in perspective. i feel like , after knowing her for even the brief time that i have , i’ve really grown as a person and had my eyes opened to things that i’ve never considered before which is more than i could absolutely ever ask for. i can talk to them about anything without ever feeling judged , but also know that if i’m in the wrong they’ll steer me right.

though all of these writers here are obscenely and stupidly talented , jess gets special mention because her world building? unparalleled. her mastery of words? insane. her ability to take a character i despise , but make them interesting and three dimensional and something greater than the source material could have ever produced? there’s none that do it better. writing with jess is one of my greatest joys over the last two years because i know i have a writing partner that inspires me and drives me to come up with new and interesting concepts at every turn of the wheel. and , of course , jess is an absolutely wonderful friend with the best sense of humor and supremely easy to talk to / get along with.

i met jay when i returned from my yearly sabbatical from the rpc earlier this year and i am soooo glad that i did. i gained yet another talented writing friend , but also just a great friend in general. for me , having someone i can just talk to or banter icly back n forth with is the most important thing because it helps me connect to them. and jay’s just all around the best. jay writes a lot of characters that you don’t see often and does so so well! i cannot recommend jay enough to everyone. they write a villain a lot of people despise , for valid reasons , but they don’t shy away from the fact that their character is a villain nor do they woobify or excuse his actions which , of course , is of the utmost importance. also their art? so fucking good. i love seeing their drawings on the dash whenever they post them.

morph. my lil babu. when i first came back , morph was one of the first people i met in the stranger things rpc and one of the first people i became friends with. they’re literally just a wonderful shining beacon of a person and they always make me laugh / put a smile on my face despite whatever mood i’m in. morph puts so much effort into their characters , puts so much effort into contributing to the rpc , that we don’t really deserve morph at all but i am so fucking glad we have them. i’m so fucking glad that i met them. they deserve all of the absolute best things and they’re going to get so many good things in this coming year and decade.

talk about only knowing someone for just a hot minute but being absolutely enamored with them. if you don’t follow rowan , i highly  recommend doing so as soon as possible. like stop reading this and go follow and then come back to finish reading this love fest. out of all the writers i’ve had the pleasure of coming to know in the last ten years , rowan really swooped in at the last second and said HOLD MY BEER. but in the best way. rowan’s writing ability is literally OFF THE CHARTS INSANE AND BEAUTIFUL LIKE HOLY SHIT. i’m rarely jealous of how someone else writes and i rarely go screaming to a mutual friend about how mindblown i am by someone else’s talent , but that’s what i did almost immediately after writing some quick little back n forth things with rowan. you will absolutely not regret interacting with rowan. and then , of course , rowan is an excellent human bean who is so easy to chat with that you immediately feel comfortable and like fast friends with. highly highly highly recommend.

Yes, I’m counting in the ‘omg I’m so pissed my headcanons didn’t come true’ shit too. That’s why they’re headcanons. Not everything you want is going to be included in the source material - ever. At this point, half of the FFXV fandom is acting just as bad as the Voltron fandom (and dear fucking Christ, I hope half of your aren’t crazy enough to send needle-filled cookies to people).

Wanting to change a whole fucking game just because it’s not up to your standards is bullshit. Why in the world do you think we have RP, fanfiction, fandom, and art for??? Guess fucking what guys, you can create your own fucking content. Just because the series ends and it wasn’t how you wanted it doesn’t mean that you can’t get off your ass and make it the way you wanted it to be for yourself. We have that ability. 

Don’t you get it???? We can mold and shape the canon as we please. No, this doesn’t mean that you can get away with shitting on female characters because they get in the way of your gay fucking ships (same goes for shitting on another m/m ship because it’s in the way of your fave). That’s bi-erasure and fetishizing no matter how you try to turn it.

Literally every artist in the fandom could give Cindy a proper fucking outfit. Literally any fanfiction writer can fill in the holes in canon so that it flows better. Literally any RPer(s) can have Luna travel with the guys after the Fall of Insomnia. You can do any fucking thing other than sit around and salt and bitch over canon. But you don’t.

Some games aren’t for some people and that’s fine - it’s like FFX wasn’t for me and that’s fine, I don’t have a problem with it, I just wasn’t a huge fan of it, but you don’t see me going around shitting all over it. Wasn’t a huge fan of Dissidia either, the fighting style just wasn’t something that clicked with me - I still don’t shit on it. Same fucking thing for several other games, movies, shows, and books. Sometimes, you just can’t get yourself to like something. 

Instead of continuing to shit on Tabata’s creation, sit and think about it. This man and his team did their fucking best with what they had. I’m not sorry but you wouldn’t go up to an artist/ writer/ ect on tumblr and tell them that their shit sucks because it wasn’t made the way you like it. You’d go create your own shit, wouldn’t you? Yes, you would so why put someone you don’t know through the torment that you’ve put Tabata through? Fucking shame on you.

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

Oumasai. It’s a really big ship that just… does nothing for me! I already don’t like Ouma, but even looking at the ship independantly… it has a really curious basis for it, yes, however I find it … uncomfortable. In Ouma’s Kokoronpa event, he says he will never stop lying– that may be another lie, but it does mark an issue with anyone making a relationship with Ouma. Do I think it’s possible? Sure, but I don’t think it’s anything like how the fandom idealizes it personally– not to mention Saihara already had his gripes with Saihara by CH4 … which a lot of people ignore. It’s a big no-no. You just can’t brush that under the carpet without completely demeaning Ouma’s character, you know?

Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

I have never cared about it despite having the ship on my previous blog; Oumami. Unlike Oumasai that has a strong base, this is… moreso a wish fulfillment, not to mention the way I see some people ship it is plain icky. No, I’m over the goddamn wax statue in Ouma’s room. No, I’m over the official art. Seriously, quit pushing it on me. Ouma can’t even be Amami’s ideal person. Please, I’ve had enough of the wax statue. I’m sick of it.

I really should put this on a shipping page, but my Amami has no romantic feelings for Ouma and will only see him as a little brother.

Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I generally like all of the cast but ignore a lot of icky sides… like Shinguuji, yeah, we don’t bring that up. I suppose he would count though? He’s thoroughly interesting with a pleasing aesthetic and his case is the best CH3 has seen in… the entire series, not even gonna lie. I think a dedicated mun could really bring out the depth of his character. The Monokumarz (Monokubs) can also be terrible, but I also find them entertaining. Shame they didn’t get the following Monokuma did– but alas that’s why they’re called rip-offs, huh?

1. What was your first impression of the roleplay community on Tumblr? And what’s your impression of it now?

// When it’s not being a hellhole, I find myself always having a blast in any of the RPCs I’m in. I’ve never had any luck in truly getting involved in the main fandom, and the more I look at any main fandom, the more I’d rather barely have anything to do with it. :|. The RPC has the potential to be quite welcoming, and for the first time I felt like I was capable of sharing my ideas/thoughts/headcanons, and I found people who listened to it!

With that said though... Tumblr RPC can also be summed up as highschool 2.0, for so many God awful reasons. We all know the issues, I don’t think I need to waste my time listing it. Although I must say, the RPC might be the only place on Earth, you might find people nearing their 30s throwing fits and tantrums like goddamn kids. At times it honestly feels like tumblr RPC’s focus is skewed. People are a lot more invested in policing others, than doing the basic requirements of RP... You know... Writing... Plotting... But it’s what we have, and I’ll try my best to stray away from people who behave like that.

7. What is the one trend you miss the most that’s no longer popular or seen as much as it was before?

// There isn’t any trend that comes to my mind. Rather, I miss when we all had more free time, and we could be more active on Tumblr. But we grow, age, move on to other things and that’s the natural course of things. So I guess, I miss seeing a lively dash.

Edit 1: Before anyone says anything. Yes, I’m well aware this is also the result of me being extremely picky about following people back. I’ve prioritized my comfort (so I won’t end up overwhelming myself), over mass-following a lot of people who most certainly won’t mesh well with me. I’m not complaining., don’t mistake what I’m saying. All I’m saying is that my dash has been pretty dead, due to most of my partners being busy with IRL and as such, can’t be on tumblr. That’s all.

IDEK the name of the series TBH, I just cringe so badly every time I see those franchises. Something about them, turns me off A LOT. Is it because they are all over the place? Their art is ugly? Who knows?).

[Shut up Harlock, you don’t count. I hope its okay if I don’t name names. All of them were on tumblr and people might be around from those times. I wanted to start fresh]

1: [NAME REDACTED BY THE ORDO HERETICUS]: She was an Inquisitor of a low rank travelling around on a small escort class ship, helped out by a slightly above average number of inquisitorial stormtroopers who were all adorable painballs that were delicious to write. She eventually transitioned into a Chaos Daemon of undivided allignment (or of Malal, or perhaps of no allignment whatsoever- a true neutral of the warp) during an EPIC ADVENTURE that saw some Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) level combat and shit with daemons, so she could eventually revenge herself on the evil dipshit inquisitor who set her up for corruption. None of that happened and the blog died like, halfway through a fucking dope fight scene with a Changer of Ways and his skyscraper sized warp dune-worms. I’m still mad I didnt get to retire this charachter correctly as queen-bitch of her own daemonworld, enslaving and ensuring suffering for its denizens for all eternity in her own corner of hell, watching the soul of the depraved inquisitor who destroyed her writhe in torment for all time.

2. The colonel of #1′s stormtroopers, who survived the warp infestation of their master and went on to being loosely attached to various other blogs and charachters as part of other story lines. If we’re being honest, while these charachters were amazing, nothing epic was planned for them like number 1, hence their number 2 spot. The colonel was similar in Harlock in that they were both too old for this shit, and tired as hell. This guy looked exactly like Bruce Willis.

3. A knight, from [setting redacted] who was super grim and SRS, looking for an honorable death in a kind of ‘failed ronin’ way, but with heavy plate mail and a big fucking sword. Total badass and lady killer, despite being essentially an asexual sadman who hit things. Never got a real arch, never got to see any kind of resolution at all, relatively short lived blog- and sadly part of a multimuse blog which stole a lot of his time and focus away for weaker charachters who sucked.

Rin! The 40k smuggler and free agent who was inspired by me beating Shadow Run Returns’ ‘Dead Man’s Switch’ campaign. She was a cool punk chick living in a shitty shuttle which she used to hitchhike on imperial freighters across the universe, moving illicit goods, stealing shit, and doing missions others wouldnt. Like a poor girl’s rogue trader, or shadowrun in 40k. I goddamn loved this charachter so fucking much that it still hurts my soul that I made her right when i left the 40k community the first time on tumblr. Rin, it wasn’t you, it was me, and I’m goddamn sorry that your dead. The muse did not deserve thy mun.

The Major of #2, working loosely for #1:

This girl was shamelessly fucking stolen from a charachter in Black Lagoon (an anime/manga) and commanded a rutheless group of cutthroat mercenaries and gangsters turned stormtroopers, in addition to just normal stormtroopers depending on the timeframe, who was so fucking cool that she demanded her own sub-blog. I loved writing this sadistic basketcase and  sincerely wish I did more with her before the end. What a coold charachter. However, she had nowhere near the development or depth of #2, and is an honorable mention because again, I completely and shamelessly plagiarized this charachter. Even her blog art was just from the anime. By the way my dudes, watch Black Lagoon. That is some good shit.
