It's only okay with Vriska because lesbian overshadows implications of pedophilia. As long as the couple is the same sex, stuff like abuse, age gap, and other mature controversial topics gets glossed over. Cronus did try to flirt with Eridan. But considering trolls are fine with incest, it probably wasn't seen as a big deal since it was not as important as other ships like Meenah x Vriska or Dave x Karkat. Also that this Eridan was part of a mini strife with other ghosts, it's not exactly the same Eridan we had followed in the story. It's a different Eridan that happened to accept his creepy motives since he is fine with whatever as long as it meant he is isn't a ghost virgin. If Cronus fans are anything like Eridan fans, they might accept that he is a big piece of shit and can't really woobiefy him like some do with Eridan with shit like non-binary gender arc. If not that, then Cronus' behavior in fanworks tone down extremely to prevent pissing off people who are sensitive with his actions. If not many fanart shows Eridan being racist or into military history in these modern times, then Cronus sure as hell can't lash out extremely or groping people like he had done in Openbound. If Kankri is basically the tumblrite that wants people to check their privileges and gets triggered easily, then Cronus is basically the attention whore who would guilt others online that if they act too harshly on them for being something different, then he plays the victim and says he will kill himself because others around him are acting this way towards him. May or may not help that it brings people like Kankri to his defense because he plays the "I now identify as a human, not a troll!" kind of crap.
