Surprise Me || Alex Chamberlain Imagine

Note: I hope the nonnie that requested this imagine is still around! I took ages for this imagine because of constant writer’s block and I didn’t knew which footballers I could pull off so I accepted the request and didn’t want to bail on it so I gave it a try. The imagine is short and kind of basic but I hope you all like it!

As any other Arsenal fan you were still processing the whole concept that they have won the FA Cup. Not only that, but that they defeated Chelsea, their forever opponent to win the cup.

You were excited and screaming and shouting “Gunners” during the whole celebration. A smile never leaving your lips after seeing their smiles and laughs, and in general, seeing them so happy after such a rough season. Yeah, they were kicked out of the Champions League and were now onto Euro League, but they still had something good to celebrate about.

You were best friends with Chambo, Alexis, Hector, Iwobi and Danny after having met under random circumstances that you could only consider that it was meant to happen. The guys had their phones out, answering messages probably so you took the time to send them all a congratulations in the group chat you had on Whatsapp.

Nice job, gunners! You deserve this win more than anyone!!

You hit send and almost instantly you see Danny typing.

Make your way to the end. We will go get you.

I’ll go. Just give us a second until we take the team picture with the 🏆 That was Chamberlain.

You look up at the field and see them all moving to take the picture so you take the moment to start moving down the crowded stands with fans cheering and singing for the win while Chelsea players left the stadium with annoyed expressions.

Reaching half of the end, you wait for a couple of minutes as they take their picture before you decide to move into the crowd at the end of the stands asking for the players to come to them. Alex was on his way to you, knowing where you would be sitting prior the match.

“Hold on tight” he yells over the people as he reaches for your middle half with his hand.

“Are you going to make me jump?!”

“Just do it” he says with a roll of his eyes. You place your hand on the barrier and push yourself to sit on it, Chambo supporting you and pulling you into the field. “That wasn’t that hard.”

“I thought the fans would try to jump too” you admit with a giggle, fixing your hair.

“Nah. They don’t like me as much as to invade the pitch.”

“Are you kidding?” You ask as you two walk to the group. “They love you. Didn’t you hear them asking for your jersey?”

“Eh” he shrugs and chuckles causing you to roll your eyes and push him slightly.

“Congratulations, champion” you say and he grins, pulling you close and kissing your temple.

“Thanks, babe” the last word making you blush uncontrollably and you hope he thinks it’s the hot weather or something, but he doesn’t notice.

“Y/N!” Alex cheers and you grin and hug him, making him lift you up.

“Congratulations, boys! You deserve this!” You say happily at him and the others as they came in to greet you. You were very lucky to be friends with most of them really.

“I can’t believe it yet” Danny says with a grin as he looks around. Probably looking for the cup.

You celebrate for twenty minutes on the pitch with your friends, taking pictures and just talking with them. They decide to go out later tonight to celebrate the win to a restaurant and then go around the city all together, obviously you don’t refuse such invitation.

“Do you want me to pick you up?” Chambo asks as you two walk to your cars.

“If you want. You must be tired, I can make it to your place and we take it from there” you shrug.

“Are you kidding? I’m pumped up!” He starts jumping and then faces you and starts playfully punching your shoulder.

“Oh God” you laugh as you push him slightly as you both laugh.

“I’ll go pick you up” he says, and he seemed pretty set on doing it so you nod your head.

“Fine. I’ll see you at nine?”

“Nine it is” he says with a grin and he leans in to kiss your cheek, but since you two were walking, his lips grazed the corner of yours and your heart skipped a beat. “See you then!” He walks away heading to his car and you head to yours.

You dress in some comfortable jeans and a red tank top. At night England could be chilly sometimes, but you didn’t mind it much. After all, with the boys you were sure you weren’t going to notice the cold since they’d be running and being all active around the city. Happened several times already so you knew how they could be.

You never went heavy on make up. Hanging with those boys the first times made you realize that you’d sweat more than usual with make up. You usual make up was a lipstick, liner and maybe some compact powder. That was it. So you were ready in no time. And just in time.

You heard Alex’s car pull in front of your house and you make your way down the stairs and outside, locking the door and turning around to see Alex, standing next to the door.

He was wearing a grey jacket, skinny black jeans and a light navy blue t-shirt, and he looked great.

“Hey” you let out in a breath as your heart skips a beat, something that has been happening more often around him.

“Stunning” he says with a smile as he watches you, a blush coming up your cheeks. His hand goes around your waist and kisses your cheek, his lips directly pressing into the skin.

“Thanks. You look stylish as always” you say and you both chuckle. He pulls away slightly and holds the door open for you, hand still around your waist as you slide in.

“So Hector said he might arrive a little late” Alex says as he drives. “Danny and Alex are on their way to the restaurant already.”

“What about Sanchez?”

“He is MIA. I guess he is with his sons or something” and by sons Chambo meant his dogs.

“Sounds fair.”

“Are you serious? Bailing on us for his dogs?” Alex teases.

You shrug before answering, “I’d do the same.” You tease.

“I was going to get you a puppy but not anymore” he says and you laugh before pouting.

“But I love puppies!”

“You will bail on me too.”

You gasp playfully, “I would never do such thing!” You giggle and he chuckles before getting in the driver’s side and taking off to the restaurant.

You two talk on your way to the restaurant about mostly everything. You enjoyed watching the city lights and how calm everything felt around. Yeah, it was night and a lot of people were out, but the atmosphere felt calm for you.

In no time you two arrived at the restaurant and Chambo helped you out of the car, leaving his car at the Valet Parking area. As you walk inside, you spot Iwobi and Danny at a table and make your way to them. As you do, Alex reaches for your hand subtly and intertwines your fingers together. You want to look at him, but you feel that if you do, he will get the wrong idea, that you didn’t liked the gesture when you actually did.

“Hey guys” you greet as you walk to them.

“Y/N!” Danny greets and he stands up to hug you, as well as giving your cheek a kiss before moving to Chambo.

“You look great!” Iwobi grins and kisses your cheek.

“Thanks” you nod your head with a blush. Chambo greets him as well before pulling your chair so you can sit.

You all talk for a while and joke around, earning a few stares and glares from people silently asking you to keep it down. Chambo is sitting right next to you and his arm is placed on the back of your chair and you’d find yourself leaning onto him. The whole scene was nice for you. Joking around with friends and being with Chambo like if you two were something. Which you didn’t mind it, you liked Chambo and you were comfortable with all his gestures obviously, but then you wondered what this meant for him.

Was this something he was doing consciously? Did he felt something? Were the signals true after all?

You guys have your meals and soon you are all paying your bills and leaving the restaurant.

“You guys wanna come home and play something?”

“I’ll pass, I want to take this girl around the city” Chambo says and the guys start making their usual noise of kissing and aw’s. “Shut up” he rolls his eyes and waves them off.

"Alright. Alright. We will see you two later” Iwobi says and looks at you and then at Chambo while wiggling his eyebrows making you laugh.

“Bye guys, take care” you say and wave at them with your free hand and watch them go before you turn to Chambo who had already called for the car and was now before you.

"Where do you want to go?” He asks as he holds the door open for you.

“I don’t know” you admit. “Surprise me” you shrug playfully and he chuckles.

“Alright.” He closes the door after you get in and then gets on his side and starts the engine before taking off.

After a while of driving and talking, you two arrive at Hyde Park where you could see some of the city lights. It was a place that it somehow made you feel calm and just enjoy the little things and Chambo’s presence. It felt…right, perfect even. It had you thinking of back when you met him, when you two started going out with the squad and then the group got smaller until you two went out alone every now and then. Press said you two were together, or that you were his potential love interest and you two just ignored the rumors at first because they were just that. Then everything started to get more complicated and you started developing stronger feelings for him, and how could you not?

Chambo was the sweetest guy you have met, always a gentleman and always looking out for you. During his away matches he’d keep you posted and asked if you were okay, sometimes even video calling you to confirm your words and you’d spend hours talking. It might be why you have fallen for him, but you weren’t sure of his feelings. You didn’t want to think one thing when he meant another one. The times he has asked you to be his date for events, when he held your hand, the way he held you, and just overall looking out for you…It made it feel like there was more, but you didn’t dare to ask. You were too afraid that asking might ruin the friendship you two had. But then, you remember the teasing of the guys after you left dinner.

“Those guys are crazy” you comment randomly.

“Iwobi and the others of tonight?” He asks and you nod your head, he chuckles. “Yeah, blurting out things and messing around. They are terrible.” He says as you two continue to walk.

“They are just jealous that you have a girl to take to the events” you say playfully.

“Yeah…That must be why they teased…” he says and you arch an eyebrow, eyeing him curiously. “Or maybe it’s true.”

“What might?”

“Well…You know how they were saying I should get a girl at some point? When I was being all gentleman with you?” Your heads nods. “Well…Maybe I found the girl” he shrugs. You are not sure what to say, so you say something stupid probably.

“Got a girl and still asking me to go out with you?” You joke. “She knows it was just a friends thing, right?”

“Yeah…She is amazing, I wouldn’t want to mess anything up” he says as he looks at you.

“She has you that crazy?” You tease.

“Yeah” he chuckles. “She is perfect for me I guess” he says and ducks his head with a smile, if it weren’t dark you could probably see some blush coming up to his cheek. That’s when you realize you are jealous of whoever the girl is. She made him feel this way. He was blushing! Chambo almost never blushed around you and when he did, he’d say how he hated that you could make him blush.

“Well she is one lucky girl.” The slight bitterness might be noticeable in your tone. “Any girl would be happy to be with you.”

“You think so?”

“Absolutely” you say and nudge him playfully making him chuckle.

“You know,” he starts, “she is kind of spaced out sometimes.”

“How come?”

“She doesn’t realize I’m talking about her” he smirks.

“What?”

“Oh God, Y/N” he says and takes your hand, stopping you from moving further and he stands in front of you. “It’s you.”

“Yeah, its me?” Cause you didn’t want to think it was what you think he meant. “Wait…”

“I mean it’s you who I’m talking about” he says and you blinks. “Y/N, do you think I’d ask you out, pick you up, be how I am with you, if I had another girl?”

“Well, since we have been friends for a while I thought…”

“Because we have known each other for a while it’s why I’m acting like this. It is why I fell in love with you” you blink in shock. “You have always been there for me, supporting me, understanding me no matter what. Many girls can do that, but with you…its different. You do it because you really care, not because of who I am…” he is cupping your cheek now and you smile softly.

“I will always support you, Chambo. No matter what.”

“Do you feel the same?” He asks and cups your other cheek so he is cupping your face between his big hands.

“I do” you admit under your break as he looks at you. “I have for a while now but I didn’t want to break what we had…”

“That can never happen” he takes a step forward and you feel his breath on your lips. “Can I…?”

“Just go for it” you say and he chuckles before he leans in, plump lips kissing your own in a feather like manner. A soft liplock where you sigh in relief because you have thought of his lips on yours for so long, imagining what they would feel like, and now it was happening.

You part your lips and capture his own, your arms resting on his middle and you feel him smile into the kiss as he returns the kiss. He was kissing you ever so softly, like if he kissed you any more urgent or passionate, you’d get scared away. After a few kisses, he pulls away and rests his forehead against yours, hands moving down to your waist.

“Y/N…Would you be my girlfriend?” He asks and your eyes finally open to look at him. The sincerity was written all over his eyes as well as the love he felt for you. The love that you thought that was only friendly and now was more than that.

“Of course” you dare to kiss his lips, a quick peck. “I’ve waited and imagined this for so long…”

“I know, everyone dreams of dating this man” he pulls away and points at himself and you laugh and roll your eyes.

“You just had to show yourself off, huh?”

“I saw the chance and it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t took it, you know?” He chuckles and you push his chest lightly.

“You are the worst” you giggle and he wraps his arms around your waist pulling you close.

“Yet you like me and love that.”

“Sadly” you tease and he kisses you, you are guessing he does it to stop you from teasing him further. He pulls away and smile.

“The guys owe me” he says out of the blue and you arch an eyebrow for the second time that night. “They bet that I wouldn’t ask you to be my girlfriend tonight, but here we are.”

“I’ll deny it.”

“You wouldn’t dare” he says with a playful gasp.

“I want fifty percent of the bet” you say playfully.

“So that will be half of the lunch. Works for me” he says with a chuckle and you laugh lightly. Chambo takes your hand and the two of you continue to walk through the part. Suddenly a part of you feels more relax, whole even, knowing that Alex felt the same way and you two were now officially dating. You couldn’t wait for the excitement and the moments you were about to live by his side from now on.
