never read normal people so i cannot answer any of ur questions abt why people did or didn't like it unfortunately lol. im honestly just not super into contemporary fiction i think like the genre of book where it's just people living life in situations...i am usually a sci-fi & fantasy person when picking up fiction so a lot of these bestsellers sort of stay on the fringes of my radar
