As funny as the trolley problem and the suffering builds character memes are (and I do love them), I personally think it ascribes a belief to Miguel he doesn’t explicitly hold in the text.

“Bad things are gonna happen; it makes us who we are.“ is a line that belongs to Peter B. Miguel doesn’t even approach the idea to Miles of this model justifying the suffering it perpetuates, even if it’s an understandable byproduct because of what this model asks you to swallow, what it asks you to concede.

Why would he claim that suffering builds character? The one time he believes he defied fate, it backhanded him so hard he’s still reeling from the trauma, and it took at least 8 billion lives as collateral including Gabriella. What did that suffering teach him but a despairing submission to fate?

To Miguel’s understanding of what happened, there’s not even a trolley problem. It’s “you accept the terms fate deals you, or it will destroy everyone - including those you wanted to save - regardless”. His perspective is far more aligned to utilitarianism and fearing that massive human cost happening again, more than it is morally justifying why the canon operates as it does.

When I say that the medical system is failing me, your response shouldn't be "Google your symptoms" or "Only you can help yourself" because neither of those things are remotely helpful. Instead, treat those failed with by the system with empathy and get fucking mad over the injustice.

the problem with internet politics (that is very clearly shown with how people reacted to the whole situation with the houthis) is that the prevailing belief is the opposite of bad is good, there's no such thing as a good or easy route in politics, you have bad guys and you have bad guys, you swap one oppressive force for another and that's the consistent chain throughout history, especially in an industrialized and globalized society we are now firmly in the geopolitical doublebind, you can't help one group without harming another, you can't stop one issue without causing i second, when war settles the only thing left is the ingredients for more war

I'm the abusive one (or we both are) and learning that avoidance can be an abuse tactic is very difficult to realize.

I want to protect myself from danger.

What feels like danger?

Verbal jabs, eyerolls, jokes at my expense, dismissal, "this is for me, not for you", being treated differently than his other romantic relationship, doublebinds where no way is a good way to connect with him, not having my emotional needs met because they're his aversions, getting a taste of fond interaction before met with a week of silent treatment.

I want to take his power away before he victimizes me.

I don't talk. Don't share emotion. Don't express my needs. Don't share what's important to me.

I'll get dismissed. I'll get made fun of. Scoffed at. Yelled at. Fought with. Shut out. I'll share information just so it can be used against me later, much later, when I've forgotten about it.

What's "used against me" look like?

I've said something in confidence, and later that's used to justify a new behavior, a new expectation, a new insecurity, a new conflict. A new conflict that I don't want and never asked for. Shame? I interpret shame from it?

I love scorpios (4 of my good friends are scorpios), leos aren’t bad but they’re pretty prideful (and with all the aries in my chart so am I which doesn’t make arguments go easily lol) & lastly I love gemini’s I think they generally have a comical / unique vibe to them… I’d say yes to date but I think we’d be really similar whether that’s for better or worse LOL

i don't personally agree with the perspective that "miguel NEEDS to partially correct about canon events, otherwise he's a villain" because like. setting aside the issue of possibly naturalising the irl choices writers made (e.g. fridging gwen) through the concept of 'canon events', to me defining miguel's morality comes down to two questions:

What is Miguel's intent when pursuing his goal? <- it's unambigiously heroic. he desires to save people. and -

Can I plausibly understand how he has come to the belief system (and therefore goal) he has? Yes. I can understand why, when viewing the things he did (universal patterns of suffering between spidermen & the trauma of that dimension collapse), he came to the conclusion he did.

Keep in mind the other bits of information we and the characters are working with are:

Anomalies seem to affect the world they're in (Vulture appears to affect the Guggenheim's structure w glitches)

They're also in danger of dying if they don't have a stabaliser like the watch

But say for the sake of argument Miguel is completely wrong about breaking canon and doing so would not endanger anyone and the alt dimension collapsed for reasons utterly out of Miguel's knowledge or control. That still doesn't negate the heroic intent he operated by nor his desire to save people.

What "How much or little is Miguel correct?" affects is how tragic it makes Miguel's guilt and the moral concessions he feels that guilt about. Whether you would argue for it being needlessly tragic or bleak is another conversation entirely but how correct he is about what damage canon events cause doesn't actually change the fact he operated on sincerely good and heroic intentions.. And I think atsv already sets up that last point in an understandable manner.
