That Bitter Draught and Su She feels took me completely by surprise and I blame you for it. How did you manage to take a character that is universally hated and make him so relatable and enjoyable to read about?? I loved how he ended up becoming friends with LWJ against his will essentially XD. It was delightful to read about the events of MDZS through the eyes of a character that is just so bitter towards the world he's in. I would love to see a sequel for this one day! Great work!

I’m so glad you liked it! for me it really is just a matter of finding the right way to look at a character in order to like them :) in Su She’s case, it was actually a lot of fun because he really does hate so many things in such a very modern way. poor boy has class consciousness before anyone really identified “class” as a thing.

and as for Lan Wangji, let’s be real, Su She thinks he’s a prickly hedgehog who doesn’t like anyone but actually he can be bought by a bag of chips and a smidgen of respect - don’t forget that canonically it took Jin Guangyao one look to peg Su She as having massive insecurity issues and to remember his name the way he would do for literally anyone because he has a photographic memory and Su She was ride or die for him for the rest of his life. He was on board the Lan Wangji train the second he realized they were a community and just spent the rest of the fic attempting to deny reality.

and I really do think I may go ahead and write a sequel XD so if anyone has wants or things they’d like to see, situations they think would be fun or people they’d like Su She to meet, now’s the time to get suggestions in

Oh my god, pleeeeaaaseee tell us about your Wen Sibs AU!! It's always such a highlight when I see something about it on my dash!!

ok yes I am always looking for an excuse to talk about Wen Sibs AU!! It is, unlike GTRT, very feel good and fluffy (mostly. can’t have all fluff without a good dose of angst. @paradoxspaceheater is once again my partner in crime and softness) but the basic premise is this: Wen Ruohan’s distant-ish cousin, current leader of the healer branch and top doctor in Qishan, soon to be proud mother of Wen Qing and Wen Ning, manages to gain partial custody of Wen Xu (and Wen Chao when he comes along.)

(for context, my version of wq and wn’s mom is named Wen Ying, courtesy name Luanyi, and in canon she and her husband die early when Wen Ruohan has them “”“accidentally”““ killed on a night hunt bc he decides they’re too much of a threat to him)

Anyway, Wen Ying and her husband raise Wen Xu, Wen Qing, Wen Chao, and Wen Ning (listed in order of age) as siblings basically, all while attempting to instill morals and healthy coping mechanisms in these kids while also not catching Wen Ruohan’s eye and being murdered.

The Sunshot Campaign happens but the only major casualty is Wen Ruohan (there are some executions afterwards though but like nobody else’s parents die,) the Wen family adopts Meng Yao and it goes really well for everybody except Jin Guangshan, Xue Yang gets therapy because he may be a mass murderer but he’s also fifteen, and Jin Zixun gets told off for being a massive dick!!

Highlights include (under a cut bc it will probably get long lmao):

- Nightless City politics, which are stressful for everybody involved

- sibling bonding!!!! so much sibling bonding!!!!!

- Wen Ruohan being fuckin terrifying as usual + explorations of how the Wen brothers got to be Like That in canon and how they avoid becoming Like That in the au (spoiler alert: good parenting and support)

- the Wen siblings (mostly Wen Chao) befriending the Yunmeng trio (mostly Wei Wuxian)

- Wen Qing going to Gusu School and experiencing Tension because it’s the year that Sect Leader Nie died and people aren’t feeling too good about the Wens, plus Nie Mingjue was supposed to come and now cannot for obvious reasons...

- Wen Xu going to Cloud Recesses and trying his absolute best not to burn everything down— this ends with Lan Xichen disappearing, unharmed (but nobody KNOWS he’s unharmed) and Qingheng-jun coming out of seclusion! it’s very tense, especially for Lan Qiren.

- Wen Chao running the indoctrination camp but he’s trying his best to not be evil and everyone is REALLY confused (also he gets to fight the xuanwu of slaughter with Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji :D)

- Wen Chao showing up in Lotus Pier and going “hey, my dad wants me to murder everyone and I really don’t want to murder everyone, so please help me”

- Meng Yao getting his opportunity to get into Nightless City by being sent on a rescue mission to extract Wen Xu and his wife (they’re both aro and they play strategy games together for fun) from the Citadel

- The Sunshot Campaign being considerably less harrowing because the allied sects have gained such helpful people as: Wen Ying, her husband, all four of her kids, half the healers of the Wen sect, Wen Zhuliu, the Jiang parents, and Qingheng-jun

- Wen Xu and Nie Mingjue getting captured together and having an extremely harrowing time with Wen Ruohan before Meng Yao stabs him and they all, understandably, go “what the fuck” before spending the next three or so days attempting to subdue an entire city with Meng Yao’s intelligence, Nie Mingjue’s strength and about five of his surviving soldiers, and Wen Xu’s boundless drive, charisma, and refusal to stop and rest for this entire period despite serious wounds and trauma. Wen Xu honey please

- Meng Yao getting an invitation to join the Wen sect as they get back on their feet because they all hate Jin Guangshan and are absolutely certain that if Meng Yao goes with him everything will be bad

- ...and accepting said invitation, after a hot second.

- Wen Ying becoming the new sect leader and basically overhauling the entire Wen sect because MAN they have issues and also everybody hates Wen Ruohan’s aesthetic sense and excessive staircases

- Wen Xu, Nie Mingjue, Lan Xichen, and Meng Yao becoming sworn brothers

- Nie Huaisang and Wen Ning, as the chronically overlooked baby brothers of the family, deciding to fuck shit up with the occasional help of Wen Xu’s wife (Yang Mingzhu) and pranking Jin Guangshan until they accidentally find evidence of serious crimes and get him deposed via anonymous letters and an absolute masterpiece of a public scandal

- Meng Yao and Jin Zixuan striking up a tentative friendship in the wake of their father’s downfall

- Meng Yao getting to hold Jin Ling!!!!!

- (oh, and Qin Su and Meng Yao managed to sort their shit out and Qin Su is now dating Mianmian.)

- Jin Zixun refusing to stop being a dick to people including but not limited to Meng Yao, Su She, and Lan Xichen, and getting his ass kicked repeatedly by Wen Chao before eventually managing to offend Qingheng-jun of all people. This is a bad idea because Meng Yao is currently locked in an obnoxiously soft slow-burn romance with Lan Xichen, and Qingheng-jun, in addition to being mad at Jin Zixun for other reasons, really deeply hates it when people insult his sons or his sons’ boyfriends.

- Jin Zixun getting dragged up Koi Tower’s steps by an incredibly pissed Sect Leader Lan and dropped in front of Jin Zixuan, who is honestly super relieved to finally have a reason to snap at Jin Zixun

- Wen Zhuliu traveling around on his own before he apprehends Xue Yang and brings him to Qishan to face justice, which would be execution if any of the other sects were in charge but Wen Ying is like “what no he’s a teenager give him to me”

- Lan Qiren getting to relax for once

and other things!!!! but there’s so much that if I really expanded on any of this this post would go on literally forever so feel free to ask about any of the above points/how any particular character is doing lmao

You ace attorney art is just *chef's kiss* I very quickly followed you into the games and actually just recently finished playing trials and tribulations. It's just so good and I'm so glad you got me into it! And again your art is just to die for. Your wrightworth content is just so soft and I'm absolutely in love with how you draw Franziska! I just love her so much and have so many feels about her.

Imagine Kuroo forcing Kenma to watch a horror movie with him thinking he'll get scared and that he'll get free cuddles. In the end Kuroo is the one that gets scared to death because Kenma has gained immunity to gore and horror from all the video games he plays.

After several loud yelps and screeches, Kenma lets out a sigh and throws a blanket over Kuroo’s head before sitting down between Kuroo’s knees with his back against his chest so Kuroo can hide his face in Kenma’s hair.

Kuroo is not embarrassed afterwards at all. After all, he did get his free cuddles in the end.

Aaaaaah, your MXY and cat!WWX fic!!!!! It's so good!!! Everything about MXY broke my heart but the entire premise was also immensely funny to me?? I especially had a real giggle fit when LWJ calls out to him in the end and MXY busts out that ventriloquism bit. The cat thing is just so absurd while also being galaxy brained at the same time. This was a thing I didn't know I needed, thank you for my life! Would you ever consider writing in this verse again?

Possibly! It depends on if people have specific ideas they want to see, and if any of those ideas happen to be especially inspirational.

Dude, I just finished playing Hetahospital. It was amazing!! :D I loved the puzzle, it was annoying at first but then I cracked and I felt really really relieved. I'm really curious how everything is going to play out, cause I'm sorta confused like, I'm getting really mixed signs from Hungary for example. All in all it's a great game, I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. Great job and well done :D

483. A new Fair Game HC...that’s got a NIECE sound to it, doesn’t it?

It’s time for another Fair Game Wedding HC!!!!

So, we’ve gone over a lot of Wedding HCs in this series, haven’t we? We did the proposals, the best men, getting permission from the families, the officiant, the venue, the rings, the flowers, both bachelor parties, AND the cake! 

WOW! Not to toot my own horn, but when you look at that list, I’ve been pretty freakin’ comprehensive with the Wedding HCs! And spoiler alert: I’m not even done yet. 

But that’s to be discussed at another time! Tonight, we’re gonna talk about Ruby and Yang’s roles in the wedding. After all, Qrow and Clover wouldn’t NOT involve their favorite young ladies in the festivities.

What are they going to do? I am SO glad I’m pretending that you asked!

Originally, I was going to make Ruby the flower girl and Yang the ring bearer. After all, even though those are roles made for younger children, there aren’t any little kids in the extended cast and both Ruby and Yang would fit the roles nicely.

However, literally as I was writing the opening to the HC, I had a better idea, one that made a ton more sense to me.

Now, a wedding can make do without a flower girl as well as a ring bearer. 

But every good wedding has the spouses walked down the aisle and being given away to each other.

We don’t know anything about Qrow and Clover’s parents and I don’t think I’m alone in HCing their individual parents as dead by the time they meet in the series. And with their closest friends acting as their Best Men, they don’t really have anyone to give them away.

And that’s where Ruby and Yang come in!

Qrow and Clover approach their nieces together, inviting them out for a meal so they can ask them. I have this vision in my head of them cooly switching off sentences as they build towards the ultimate question before finally Clover asks them, with Qrow supplying a “so what do you say” afterwards.

Obviously, Ruby and Yang love the idea and immediately accept the offer. They’re so excited to do it! Yang, jovially smirking, remarks that “it’s about time we get to do something for the wedding.”

Qrow and Clover leave it up to the two of them to see who wants to walk who down the aisle. Clover feels a little bad about that since both Ruby and Yang have such a strong relationship with their Uncle Qrow. He knows they love him too, but they’ve known Qrow for their whole lives and him for only a few years by comparison. It hurts him to think that one of them is going to have to give up walking Qrow down the aisle to walk him down instead.

However, neither niece feels that way. To the two of them, no matter which uncle they accompany down the aisle, they’re playing a part in expanding their family and bringing both of their uncles happiness. Clover eventually gets that through his head, but the lesson still has to be learned nonetheless.

Ultimately, Ruby ends up walking Qrow down the aisle and Yang ends up accompanying Clover. I liked this for a couple of reasons, though it was honestly a tough decision because Yang and Qrow haven’t gotten a lot of screen time together lately and they should.

However, what charms me about the main family dynamic of the series is their unconventionality and an honorary niece taking her honorary uncle down a wedding aisle and giving him away to his husband is about as unconventional as unconventional gets. And Yang, who believes so heavily in the strength of family, whatever form that family takes (as well as the difference between good family and bad family), inviting a new and beloved member into their family in the more direct, explicit way possible has so much meaning (Also, if you don’t like this decision, blame @drbtinglecannon for making an amazing Clover and Yang bonding fic that stole my heart).

460. For CRYING out loud -- here’s your new Fair Game HC!

Here, for your reading pleasure/misery are some HCs of Qrow and Clover crying!

Qrow cried a fair amount as a young child in the tribe as well as a young adult once team STRQ fell apart and Clover cried a fair amount as a young teenager feeling reduced to just his semblance. However, under normal circumstances, neither cry a ton  -- not because of masculinity BS, but they’re just not the crying sort. Sadness is usually conveyed through different means with them.

They’ll both tear up at funerals, and Qrow will cry at particularly bad nightmares. If Clover sees Qrow crying in his sleep, he’ll gently wake him from his nightmare and stay up talking with him and/or even just watching TV in their room (There’s a tissue box by the dresser in the Ebi-Branwen residence that shares the bed with them like a puppy on the nights where they’re in need of their papery services).

Qrow cries more often than Clover does and when Clover cries, Qrow knows it’s a big deal, and gives plenty of time to Clover to being a source of emotional support for the rest of the day while he feels himself out. Qrow knows that it means a lot to Clover and Clover thanks him at least once an hour. Around the third thank you (by which time, Clover is feeling decently better), he’ll start joking with Clover about the excessive ‘thank you’s.

Qrow feels incredibly safe crying in Clover’s chest. It’s warm and stable and is accompanied by two strong arms that will do everything they can to make him feel better. holding his back closer to him. If he’s crying, he’ll stay that way for quite some time. Clover is happy to be there for Qrow, but he’s quick to inconspicuously change his shirt upon seeing the tear-y residue Qrow left behind. However, no matter how inconspicuous Clover tries to be, Qrow’s bird eyes transfer over to his human form. He apologizes for the mess on Clover’s shirt, but Clover tells him that a shirt is not more important than being there for him (”Since when did you get so corny?” “I’m sorry, were you not with the group I traveled with in Vacuo? Because they were a pretty corny bunch, including their handsome chaperone.”).

A non-sad type of thing that has them cry is when it’s out of pride for the kids. Qrow and Clover both tear up at things their nieces’ weddings and award ceremonies for saving Remnant (As well as their adoptive niece and nephews’ weddings and award ceremonies) as well as the births of their great nieces and nephews.

432. Tonight’s Fair Game HC is definitely my SNORT of thing!

I’ve got a few Fair Game laughter HCs for you all tonight!

-More than anything he’d ever said up until that point in their relationship, Clover was the proudest of the fact that he made Qrow laugh. It wasn’t a snort like what Qrow usually did when they exchanged quips or made lighthearted conversation -- no, for the first time, it was an honest to goodness seconds-long laugh. Gods, Clover just fell for Qrow all over again taking it in, seeing him smile as he did when it happened --tiny glints of teeth in between peaks of perked up cheekbones. And then there was the sound that laughter made. The sound of Qrow’s laughter stayed with Clover for the next couple of days, playing in his head like a scroll’s ringtone. 

-Little did Clover know that that was the case for Qrow, too. Qrow hadn’t laughed like he did at whatever he and Clover said/did/shared/saw together in quite some time. The strength of his reaction was hard to ignore. It made him blush a bit. It was in embarrassment at first, but quickly turned to something different as he remembered just how happy Clover looked in the moment of it and the moments that passed afterwards. 

-Qrow’s always liked Clover’s laughter. It’s not obnoxious -- it’s subdued, handsome in its own right (Just like Clover himself, Qrow subconsciously thinks). There’s a melody to it -- low and cool, yet jovial and genuine. Qrow’s not addicted to it, per se (Or at least, that what he claims), but mentally, part of whatever quips or snips he may say during their back-and-forth that factor in the possibility of the chance that they might spur a bit of laughter from Clover and based on those estimations, he may or may not choose to use the ones that have the greater chance more often than not.

-Qrow’s laughter when he’s getting tickled is different than his normal laugh. It’s like a hyena -- loud, almost hysterical, and far higher in pitch than it usually is. And if he laughs any harder than that, he loses any audible sounds his laughter provides him at all (As well as making his body contort in all manner of ways to handle the tickly shock). When he gets like that, he needs a few seconds to catch his breath to recover.

433. I’ve finally got tonight’s Fair Game HC in SHIP shape!

What are some of my Fair Game sailing HCs? I’m so glad you didn’t ask!

-Clover has lived in Atlas all his life, but he has gone sailing once or twice. Perhaps it was with a family member or on a school trip, but he definitely went sailing, and he absolutely adored it. He loved rocking his orange life vest like a sailing superstar, feeling the watery wind fly across his face and skin, feeling the movements of the boats at various speeds (He preferred feeling faster speeds, but there was charm in just feeling a boat rock as it slowed and anchored).

-On one of those trips, Clover got to sail the boat for a little bit. It should come as absolutely no surprise, but after a brief introduction to sailing, Clover proved to be a nautical natural at it. It felt good to Clover, and that feeling stuck with him. Clover always said prior to meeting Qrow that he didn’t regret his choice of profession, but he did wish for some time to go sailing again.

-The first time Qrow goes out on the water sailing is with Clover. Qrow was always worried that given all of the annoying coincidences his semblance causes, that he’d be seasick, so he never bothered sailing before. He’d gone on big boats for transportation purposes, but he stayed in his room as much as possible during the trip (And also took preventative medication just in case). However, when Clover is able to convince him to go out on the water for a sailing trip, it ends up not being an issue. 

-It’s the first time that both Qrow’s been out sailing and the first time in roughly a decade that Clover’s gone on a sailing trip. They go shortly after the war, and the day ends up being perfect. The sun is bright (But not hot, sparing them both from the threat of a sunburn) and there’s not a cloud in the sky. Clover, of course, is basically in heaven and Qrow ends up enjoying himself quite a lot. Sure, the orange life vest is the dorkiest thing he swears he’s ever put on his body (No matter what Clover says), but with the wind as stunning as it is and the sight of the simultaneously calm and exciting water (Which matches his boyfriend’s air throughout the day), it’s easy to ignore the wardrobe.

-Clover teaches Qrow how to sail. He absolutely does that thing like in movies and TV shows where one person is teaching another person to do an activity like golfing or bowling and they get really close and it’s super romantic. Clover’s hand is gently over Qrow’s as he helps him master steering while giving him instructions. Qrow quickly gets the hang of sailing, too, though he lets Clover sail mostly because he knows that Clover uber enjoys sailing and he just regularly likes it.

439. Tonight’s Fair Game HC is sure to STEAL your heart!

How about some HCs from Qrow and banditry?

For obvious reasons, Qrow and Raven did a lot of their banditry schemes together. Because they are twins, I feel like they did a lot of that “ol’ switcheroo” thing by wearing the same clothes and a hat to make them look indistinguishable while they poach things. Like, if they were stealing food, one of them would steal the food, pass it to the other, and confuse any pursuers while the other snuck away. 

Summer and Tai never really approved of Qrow and Raven’s banditry, but there was no doubt that the skills they acquired from it came in handy from time to time. Whether it was sneaking access to restricted locations (For both Huntsmen purposes and ‘kids being kids’ purposes) or getting cool things, Qrow and Raven’s banditry was pretty convenient for the members of team STRQ during their Beacon days.

In his post-war life, Qrow doesn’t really pull out his old banditry skills...at least not in the traditional sense. He can afford whatever he needs and he doesn’t want to steal from innocent people. However, Qrow will put the skills to work again under some circumstances.

1. If someone is being a jerk to his nieces or boyfriend/husband and they don’t want Qrow to make a scene, Qrow might retaliate by making off with their wallet or something fancy they have on their person. Whoever Qrow steals for know it’s not necessarily the right thing to do, but can’t seem to stop smirking or laughing long enough to tell him that.

2. Qrow will totally steal from Clover, but in a cute way, often one that will intentionally make it so Clover finds out very soon after that he stole it. Like, he will steal a bite of Clover’s ice cream cone if Clover has one or he’ll grab some money out of his wallet and then smirk as he sneakily puts it away, confusing Clover until he puts two and two together.
