Behind the Voice actors: Globox

Welcome to the second installment of behind the voice actors. featuring our favorite frog-dad, globox!

 Rayman 2 the Great escape (English): Christian Erickson

(Note: this applies to the Playstation version of this game. it is the only version i can confirm this being the voice actor)

Rayman 2 constantly seemed to change voice actors or dialogue, even cut out certain cutscenes and plot details as it developed for different consoles and eventually into revolution for the ps2.  i have confirmed that for the playstation 1 version, Globox was voiced by Christian Erickson

Erickson also did the voice for jano in this version of the game as well.

While did research on his roles...I don’t recognize a lot of these other than his roles in heavy rain.

he was Ethan Mars, the doc, and the blue lagoon barman in that.

i’ll give a few samples of his other roles but i don’t know how many of you recognize these. 

He was Edenshaw in Alone in the dark: the new nightmare

Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and Baren in Frank Herbert’s Dune (2001 video game)

The oracle, Garett, john, and an orderly within Farenheit: indigo Prophecy. 

 Rayman 2 the great escape (French): Jean Claude Donda and  Pierre-Alain de Garrigues

Two voice actors you cry? yes. because it depended on the version of the game!

The Playstation 1 version of the original french globox was done by Jean Claude Donda. Raymanian lines within the PC versions, the dreamcast, AND the nintendo 64 version was done by Pierre-Alain de Garrigues. 

Pierre doesn’t have much that i can find in his voice acting role. outside of rayman stuff he’s only really done:

Dr. Funfrock, Dino-fly, and the horses in little big adventure: twinsen’s adventure,

Arantir in Dark Messiah: Might and magic,

the Nubian and Pairhy within Egypt II: the Heliopolis prophecy.

Within rayman 2 (the ones I can include that will not be featured in future posts)

He was Sssam the snake, Clark the giant, Spyglass the pirate (or credited as pirate robot) And jano.

Jean however, has a rich history in French voice acting.

He was the voice actor behind disney’s Winnie the pooh, most of the time behind the singing voice for him all the way from springtime with roo to Piglet’s big movie. his actual speaking roles were from the 2011 Winnie the pooh movie. He also did the role of piglet within A Winnie the pooh thanksgiving

He was the voice of doc within the French dub of disney’s snow white and the seven dwarves,

Geri the Cleaner from Pixar’s toy story 2 as well as the aliens.

Bob the Tomato, Larry the cucumber, Ichabeezer, Pa Grape, Mayor Archibald Asparagus, Jimmy gourd, Jerry gourd and Junior asparagus from VeggieTales in the house (and just the voice for Larry in VeggieTales in the city)

He was both Sam and Max from Sam and Max hit the road,

Gonzo, Fozzie bear, and dr. Bunsen honeydew From The muppets wizard of oz, treasure island, and Muppets from space (he just played gonzo in a muppet Christmas carol)

And Launchpad McQuack from the original Ducktales as well as the movie Treasure of the lost map

And Uka-Uka from the French dub of the 2001 version of crash bandicoot: Wrath of cortex.

Rayman Arena: Joe Sheridan

Globox didn’t really talk much within arena or the ports, but he was very vocal in expressions and such. Joe Sheridan provided the voice clips for globox within Arena, As well as the Henchmen robots and Evil Globox.

Joe Sheridan has done roles mostly for English dubs. These include:

Zokrym and Talans from the 1999 video game Outcasts,

Octavius Quartio, Fructus, Marcus Epidus, Maenianus, Statius, and a prist of isis within Pompei: the Legend of Vesuvius

Obed Morton in alone in the dark: the new nightmare

Fatso in Casper’s scare school,

Maltazard in Arthur and the revenge of maltazard,

And the elf Ambassador in Styx: Master of shadows.

 Rayman 3 Hoodlum havoc (English): John Leguizamo and Douglas Rand.

Remember how I said I was going to avoid mentioning some of rand’s roles on my rayman post to prevent myself from sounding like a broken record? Globox is ONE of these cases.

In game, globox actually had 2 voice actors in the English dub. Rand specifically did the voices during the cutscenes such as the begoniax and razoff scene, and the final cutscene where he laments about missing andre.

Rand also did the voice for globox for the English commercials for rayman 3.

Most of the time however, you hear globox as John Leguizamo.

I mentioned this one in my rayman head canons series, but john leguizamo’s most recognized role is….

Sid the sloth from the ice age movies. ALL OF THEM! EVERY SINGLE MOVIE THEY CHURNED OUT HE KEPT HIS ROLE AS SID!

However, a more obscure one for some of you, is he was also the voice of Gune within the infamous don bluth film Titan A.E.

Gune was one of his earlier voice acting roles.

Most of the time when globox spoke in game and scenes that were not “Major cutscenes” You heard john speaking, but major cutscenes like the final end game one was Douglas Rand. I don’t know why that’s the case unfortunately.

Rayman 3 Hoodlum havoc (French): Jean-Jaques Nervest

(I had to do a lot more digging than I normally have to for this one)

The French voice actor for globox within rayman 3 was Jean-Jaques Nervest.

Jean’s career included roles for French dubbing such as:

Mr freeze from Justice league: Action

Aaron Cash in Batman Arkham Aslyum and Arkham City, and Arkham Knight

And seth from Last of us Part II

And Hashi in Kubo and the two strings (otherwise known as Kubo and the magic armor)

 Rayman Origins, legends, and so on: Douglas Rand

In origins he was primarily the main male voice actor (he obviously didn’t voice the nymphs) and would go on into legends to play the females too. Such as the teensie queens and of course Barbara the barbarian.
