You used to have a website where you had your comic up, right? What happened? I doubt I'm confusing you with someone else, but maybe I am.

comic still exists, though the series is currently being produced as an animated pilot, which put the comic on indefinite hiatus, (trust me i've never been more excited to share anything in my life, but I'm holding off until it's more presentable).

That being said, the first 40ish pages of the comic are still up and i don't think i'll ever be removing them for any reason! feel free to check it out and enjoy the baby steps that will lead to something i'm real real proud of later down the line <3

HEY GAMERS it's really early in the morning when im typing this but i literally couldn't wait any longer LOL

I'm PROUD TO ANNOUNCE that Dread Me Not: The Animated Series is currently in PRE PRODUCTION!

So whats that mean exactly?

Dread Me Not is a series I started in 2018 as a webcomic. It only lasted about 50 pages, but I eventually decided a webcomic was NOT the best way to tell the story, and would require me to compromise on my original vision for the series, so I put it on an indefinite hiatus.

I've continued workshopping it over the years, and a lot of things have changed since the initial release! I hope those who enjoyed the comic before will like this story even more!

The changes in the series story are the result of a clearer vision overall of the messages I'd like to convey.

The series officially entering pre-production means that you'll start to see more and more updates as time goes on!

The plan at the moment is to produce six episodes (between 10-20 minutes each) as a first season, and then begin releasing them publicly.

There is currently no release date because this project is just starting to get off the ground. Many portions of the script are completed, as well as multiple pages worth of storyboards.

In the coming [Amount Of Time], you may see posted casting calls, or announcements about the official Dread Me Not team! I've already gotten a few folks together (to be announced at a later date) that will be helping me along with this project, and I'm so excited to share more details with you!

Again we all have a lot of work ahead of us, and it'll be a while before DMN is actually something you can sit down and watch, but despite this, I hope I've at least gotten you a bit interested in what the future holds for these characters.

I'd like to cap off this long thread with a brief story synopsis:

Dread Me Not is the story of 3 strangers meeting in a desolate place known as "The After". There are very few other people around, and powerful creatures known as "Rave Demons" roam the land, attacking anyone they see.

When the cast awakens in this strange wasteland, they resolve to team up, protect each other, and help anyone in need that they come across.

Dread Me Not explores themes of loss, friendship, queer relationships, reconciling personal trauma, navigating the slow and difficult process of healing, and much more!

Please stay tuned for more updates. As a small team of myself and friends that volunteered to help, I ask that you please be patient while waiting for more info. This is very much a "long-haul" passion project that I will be hard @ work on for many months, and likely years ahead.

Hello, this is the creator of Blanc and the runner of the showdown speaking.

I think this competition is closed. Possibly until further notice. Maybe until forever. As it stands, here are my thoughts.

It was dumb of me to do this. I wanted to make something fun; to be able to send a love letter to the Male Yandere VN community while also promoting as many VNs as I could. The best moments since I created this blog were reading tags and reblogs from people saying they played something for the first time, that they tried something new and got to like new characters they hadn't seen before because of my promotion. It was really cool to get to hear about other yanderes and to see how passionate people got about their favorites. But in the end...

A showdown is a competition. It was, at best, naive of me to think this wouldn't hurt someone. Whether it's from voter harassment or from losing a match.

I'd hate to be the reason anyone gets discouraged from making their games.

I've deleted the voting queues for now.

I will try contacting every creator to get an okay from them on which characters I can actually use. I'm not sure if everyone will reply, but I'll try. And we'll see how many are left over to make another possible list, or if this is something too damaging and unsalvageable.

I want to say to the creators and to the community, I'm sorry. Regardless of my intentions, this hurt people, and it had the potential to hurt more.

Final update about the polls:

While trying to find ways to ask creators for permission, I went to twitter and... yeah. This was a dumb idea.

I'm sorry. It was wrong to pit Indie VNs together. They're all unique and their creators care so much for their characters, that making a whole show out of comparing them was daft.

There's no salvaging this. To the developers that were looking forward to their turns, I'm sorry. I can't continue. Thank you for cooperating with me and for being so kind. I wish everyone the best.

I'll probably post a few things about Blanc across the week. I had plans for him to have an arc and for stuff to be set up for the October poll as well. But I can't continue anything with him as he was a character heavily dependent on the polls as a story structure.

Thank you everyone for your attention. I can't apologize enough for overseeing the faults in what I was doing, and for disappointing everyone that was looking forward to this.

Aight, I'll post the 'conclusion' to what Blanc's lore and story would've gone as the tournament went on in a bit. It's not all in comic form like I had wanted because my attention span has just run out of care for it, but atleast it'll be the conclusion I promised.

Are you able to say anything about what's changed in the direction/vision from the original iteration of Dread Me Not compared to what the project has evolved into?

yeah absolutely!

The pilot of the series is definitely starting in a WAY different place than the original run.

It's going to focus quite a bit on establishing Akiko's personality/how she interacts with the world BEFORE she enters The After. This is a character driven story after all, and I think it'd be worth pointing out that a lot of the characterization in the original run was SOLID but didn't give as much room to establish the casts' personalities as it could've.

A lot of the things you're going to see were actually PLANNED for the webcomic in some form or another, but the biggest thing that's going to be different is the pacing and execution.

I genuinely don't think that the pacing of the comic was bad, but I also think that time away from it has given me a much clearer vision of how to tell this story.

Also I'm axing the bit where Retro gets mad at Akiko. I had a reason for including that but it's going to be portrayed differently in the animation.

I think the focus of the story has shifted a lot in between iterations, and i can't do anything other than promise that these changes are gonna lead to some very good things!

I also have a team now so I have competent writers that can help me by providing feedback and telling me their impressions whenever a thematic element clashes with realistic character behavior, which is a MASSIVE HELP. I'm currently in the process of revising the script for the episode & the feedback I've received thus far has really helped me feel confident that I'm starting on the right foot.

i think another way you can do this is having a pure luck based contest rather than audience based since it's very finicky and bigger names would have a bigger chance of winning.

for example, that time i hosted the hunger game website show down and it doesnt hurt anyone cause it's all AI generated and purely based on luck on who's dying and who's still alive instead of letting the audience voted on who they *think* should win as it involved some biases

Ah.... I can't think of anything other than another Hunger Games event for something that is AI generated. ^^" And, I'm done with making events for the Yandere community. I'm... I'm just done... im sorry

It's very admirable to have taken in all the information and made a decision like this to halt it. It's okay to try something and let it go! (if you're still interested in doing something in the future, maybe you can have Blanc just do a highlight of those characters you chose and show why you like them so much, instead of votes). But whether you drop this entirely or choose to do something else, please be kind to yourself!

Aaw, thank you! That's a really cute idea! Unfortunately, I think I'm burnt out on doing stuff with other yanderes for a while...

I'll post sketches of design concepts for Blanc taking in other yandere's features just cuz I had so many ideas I liked (probably just from creators that consented to staying in the Showdown and maybe Ren Hana lol) but other than that, I'm sticking to my lane ^^" I may feel better now but....... this was a very formative ordeal. I'd be lying if I didn't say this hasn't affected my enjoyment of some games and of the genre as a whole. But. Well.

Sticking to my own lane! Healing! Moving on! We'll see where the wind takes me.
