The cover of #pinups #1973 features very stylized, still #glam and #alien makeup. #bowie shares the cover with English model #twiggy who had been name checked on the song #driveinsaturday from #aladdinsane as “Twig the wonder kid.” She heard it on the radio and was quite pleased, so she had her people get in touch with Bowie. The album is of course a covers album, featuring songs from 1964 to 1967 London. I believe he intended to make a second covers album highlighting American bands, but it never came to be. Look me up on iTunes and you’ll find that one of my playlists is a bunch of cover songs that Bowie did of American bands, which I call Pin Ups 2.
