I’ll break this one.

The Cadets have folded.

They have filed for bankruptcy and cease all operations.

I knew this was coming, thought I made peace with it, but can’t help but sob, this is absolutely crushing and heartbreaking for me.

Created a 3D model of a soprano bugle and am almost done with the contra. Both are in G. I don’t think anyones ever made a full 3D model of G bugles before, and, if that’s true, I think it’s pretty cool that I’m the first.

If anyone wants the model itself I’d be happy to share it.

Happy 4th of July, and Yes, Men Do Care About Fashion

Military uniforms are the best example of how men do care about fashion. True, some uniforms have lots of practical elements to function well during different activities, so fashion is of little purpose. Camouphlage serves an important purpose in making it harder to see people. Other elements are about identity. A patch on the general whose head you see on the left there alerted me to his country: it was the yellow and blue of Ukraine.

Some uniforms are only for dressier occasions and this is when you realize that men really appreciate a snappy look.  After all, white pants and red jackets would be pretty impractical on a battlefield, but they are worn by members of U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon during the Sunset Parade at the Marine Corps War Memorial. I was lucky enough to have reserved seating a few weeks ago, but the lawn area is open to anyone and people had brought picnic blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the music and the show. Both were terrific and I realized how much my ears has missed live music during the pandemic.

@itbmojojoejo I'm with you on the "starting a new post for these things" thing. So even though yours wasn't long, that's just how I'm rolling lately. So here's another get-to-know-me game!

Nickname: As an adult, no one doesn't call me by my given name, unless you count on Tumblr. Which, to be fair, is the name I gave. So nothing now. But as a kid, it was Bear.

Sign: Sagittarius baby!!!

Height: 5'5.5"

The last thing I googled: sexy 70's disco fashion. For reasons.

Amount of sleep: Fitbit says between 7 and 8 per night usually. But sometimes it's like 4. IDK. Never enough.

Dream job: I just had coffee with a friend this morning and chatted about this very topic. When I was younger I wanted to be a marine biologist, but these days I don't know what I want to be doing when I grow up. I know it isn't what I became.

Favorite song: I hate this question. But Sunrise by Simply Red is on constant repeat these days.

Movie/Book that summarizes me: I also hate this question. I have a feeling it's probably whatever the most mundane day-to-day story you've read or seen is.

Favorite instrument: Have I ever told you how much I love drum and bugle corps? So that's actually two (or more because all the different kinds of drum and brass, but IDK. The sound thrills me!)

Aesthetic: Comfy, cozy. Give me a blanket.

Favorite authors: Since I don't seem to actually read books anymore, I'll go with a few I used to love immensely. Jorge Luis Borges, John Barth, Steven King
