V3 VR Au Korekiyo’s mental health
I have so much unneeded motivation for this au compared to my school work.
I love this au, but there are so many different interpretation so i was like,,,, whelp, I’ll make my own. This is how I interpret Korekiyo (His mental health, really) I try to depict DID realistically and not badly, so please tell me if i did something wrong, I’ll immediately change it D: I did a bunch of research for this :)
Also i say he a lot, that refers to Kork (Host and original personality) but I should say they, because they are a collective system , sorry!
I use the name Miyadera, because I need a name for his sister and many headcanon that to be her name.
and again, these are all headcanon homies, you don’t have to agree
I love him, don’t let this flop lmao, I'm sorry if it’s really messy, I'm excited :)
Korekiyo's DID
Cause:
Korekiyo was groomed and coerced into an incestuous relationship with his sister, by her. She convinced him that he needed to change everything about himself, including his hair, clothes, and personal likes. Everything about him is a fabrication made by his sister to fit her standards. He even says, "I could be her little brother, her lover, but couldn't be her friend." She didn't love him truly as a sister would. She manipulated him for her sexual pleasure, using his sympathy towards her ailments against him.
(I bring up proof that he is the victim because many seem to think of him so negatively and act as if he is the abuser, when it is clear, to me at least, that he was a victim of abuse)
Furthermore, proving that he is the victim is that anytime he talks about their "love", he refers to what his sister has said, showing that he is not capable of free-thinking, but was told to believe these things.
He might also have BPD; he has frequent mood swings when it comes to things he likes and is very attached to his sister, basing everything about himself on her. Though, I’m more unsure of this than his DID (Which is semi-canon)
The Korekiyo you know isn't his real personality; all of it is a manifestation of his guilt.
His DID was fully triggered by his near-death experience.  When it happened, it reminded him of his sister and all of those traumatic memories, and in turn, it awoke the alter (who was dormant) he had had this alter for a while (childhood), without knowledge of it. He only had memory loss, that he though was normal. From that point on, he could better communicate with his alter (Only slightly being able to talk to her). He didn't know what this was so he assumed that he was being possessed by the ghost of his sister.
In turn, he is severely hurt and needs help, a friend, and to lastly, find himself.
After the killing game:
After the killing game, he was even worse off, having more trauma and feeling the betrayal of his sister. This caused an alter to be formed, which you might know as, Shuichi Saihara. This alter was based on his FTE and seeing Shuichi be the hero to their group. He found it brave of Shuichi to seek help (Therapy, medication) right when Shuichi left VR. Shuichi (The alter) protects him and usually is triggered out. Korekiyo doesn't know about him because Shuichi (The alter) doesn't/can't communicate with him. For Korekiyo, knowing that the game/his life was all fake made him feel terrible and caused mass confusion for him.
He also now has a genuine fear of boiling water; he has the others cook things that require it. It is more specifically called Encavmaphobia, the fear of getting burned.
He has also formed a new alter which is a little. Not much is known about the alter because they aren't known to anyone, not even Miyadera. One fact about them is that they are playful and enjoy snuggles. They typically speak higher and more grammatically incorrect since they are here to protect his mind and be happy.
His alters: Korekiyo (Host), Miyadera (Introject, persecutor), Shuichi 2 (introject, protector), ??? (Child alter)
What can trigger them out:
For Miyadera (F): Red lipstick, his hair, pictures of her, his pre-game family, the sister in that family, too much stress, hospitals.
For Shuichi 2 (M): Shuichi (Non-alter), foods they know Shuichi enjoys, sometimes detective stuff, talk about killing games.
??? (?) (Child): Candy, specifically black licorice, stress, any high emotion, more specifically happiness and intense passion (which may lead to crying).
(welp, im done, my fingers hurt homie, but i hope you guys like it :P)

Why they held auditions (V3 VR Au)
So basically, the biggest problem of this AU for me would be “Why did they audition and refer to it as a killing game?” So, i have a solution and a reason (Actually i have 2 and one is way more simpler than the other lol)
(Just telling you, in my version of this AU, all the events of SDR2 and DRTH have happened.)
1. For AU purposes, the "killing game" was supposed to be a way for parents to get their kids under control in a safe environment. It was only named "Killing game" because Makoto knew the name was intriguing to teens, and they advertised it as an experimental murder-mystery VR, while in secret, telling parents that it was truly an experimental living state (Ie; like virtual roommates) to calm/or get teens socializing.
(Although he didn’t like lying, it would work for his experiment in FF)
To get kids to believe this, they had them audition.
Makoto had pure intentions homie. Tsumugi ruined that.
Tsumugi was someone who had idolized Junko and put her on a pedestal. This was her moment to shine. She hacked into the “game” and changed it up to make it into a real killing game.
or,
2. we could say Tsumugi fabricated those tapes??? idk, im trying lmao

V3 VR Au Kaito’s Mental health
TW: Abuse
Lowkey sorry for not adding trigger warnings for the others but here,,, my bby boi
Causes:
Kaito had always wanted to be a hero, even when others regarded him as stupid or dumb for even trying. He ignored these things, thinking of them as stupid. He would get home, and smell thick cigarette smoke, alongside many nasty smells (Vomit, alcohol, weed, etc.;) The floors were messy and unkempt, hoarded with all his mom's stuff he dare not touch. The only place he had was his room. His mom was always drunk but never laid her hands on Kaito. It was the one thing he appreciated from her, that she was too busy being high and drunk to even notice him.
Sometimes he wondered if she knew she had a son.
Nonetheless, he was fine, or that's what he would've liked to believe. One day though, the school noticed the scent of weed on him and alerted cps that there may be illegal substances at this child's house.
He didn't panic when he told them this stuff because he thought it was normal to have a mom who does that, so when he got home, ready to celebrate his birthday alone in his room, he witnessed her being violently detained by two cops. His heart stopped.
"Why are they taking her?" Was a question that rang in his head, and soon, his fight or flight kicked in. He tried to fight them off, to scream at them to let her go. They explained that she was hurting him, and she needed to go away. No matter how hard he debated with them, they wouldn't let her go.
Eventually, they drove off, leaving a newly 13-year-old Kaito without a mother. Two people from CPS told him that he was going to a family members home to live there.
From that point on, he didn't want to be a hero, nor entertain silly games. He wanted revenge on whoever fucked his life up. He wanted to fight.
When he moved in with his grandparents, they were kind at first, making sure a scarred Kaito had space to mourn the "death" of his mother. Though, when he started to rebel (Leaving unprompted, locking his door, screaming, kicking, sneaking out) they took a sharp turn to the right. They started to yell at him for little things, criticize his clothes and style, and eventually, sent him off to a military school.
The abuse in the military school left a permanent mark on him, and when he left, he was worse off than when he started. He let himself abuse others to relieve stress, he even would hit his grandmother for disobeying him or getting on his nerves. His grandfather played a role in him morphing into a monster, because, he would smack Kaito, punch him, tell him that he was useless, and overall abuse him.
The real scare though was when Kaito overheard him say something about "fags". Kaito felt something was wrong with his heart, that these feelings he was having were "Unnatural". He projected this by beating up anyone even rumored to be gay and outing them as well. His main target was Kokichi Ouma and Shuichi Saihara, just for the fact that they were weird to him. (He had no reason other than they were pretty to him and he didn't want to like them.)
it wasn't a stretch to say he was a monster.
His Grandparents were the ones to push him to try the VR thing.
After the killing game:
Since Tsumugi couldn't get rid of his anger issues (IED),(Because she isn't that godly), She tried her best to program a personality that would pair well with anger without making him overly scary, just exuberant and ambitious.
This version of Kaito would be perfect for death, because of how likable he was, (Making him easier to mourn, and thus, despairful to the others), compared to his old personality and backstory which would be easier to hate and thus, the others being happy when he dies. She also took into consideration that him having a rival would be fun to watch, but didn't expect them to team up, rather, she expected them to kill one another traditionally. Oops.
When he woke up, he was happy rather than mournful like the others. He didn't really remember much from his pregame life, but it didn't really bother him.
That is, until he moved in with his grandparents again.
It was like a record looping, the same thing happened to him like it did when he was a child. At first, they were nice, giving him space, but then soon, they started to impose on his rights and treated him like a child. They gave him an allowance, giving him "no reason" to get a job, they asked him to stay but started to smother him, yet they held resentment and made it their goal (Mainly his Grandfather) to embarrass him for what he had done in the past. This made him confused, as he didn't even know what he had done to others.
At first, he displayed passive anger, sneaking out, being apathetic to others, and generally trying not to care. He didn't know why he was doing it but he did. His grandparents would try to become stricter to get him from being disrespectful. Kaito, at that point, just missed his fake memory grandparents, who were kind and nurturing. They would never hurt him.
When his grandfather started getting way more aggressive towards him he started to get more aggressive to battle back. This resulted in some scuffles and Kaito being bruised and having cuts because of this. Kaito with his hero complex decided to not call 911, but rather say sorry and try to fix up his wounds on his own
Since then, he was getting berated every day, since he accidentally broke his grandfather's wrist from holding him back. The abuse piled.
Kaito would feel his anger skyrocket, and even slight things (a bag touching his legs), would set him off. He was getting aggressive and would deny it.
He was also morphing into a meaner person to not only his family, but to his friends, and was more hyper-critical about his more depressed friends, (Ie; Ryoma) And would be more disdainful towards them and try to force them to be happy.
His hero façade was cracking and it was getting to him.
How they deal:
He doesn't. He doesn't think there is anything wrong with him and anyone who says so is stupid. He broke his car window after getting into an argument with Shuichi, who was trying to tell him how much therapy has helped him.
(Homies this was super long my brain kinda hurts)
