Watch Project
This week we spent our time taking apart our objects and dissecting all the aspects. We then re drew this object from different angles to get a truly in depth look at the composition of the object.
Using different drawing techniques, I tried to show the difference in all the levels of the section shot as well as the angle and the curve of the watch face. The drawings are all to a 2x scale and using the dissected photos of the watch, I was able to get as close as I could to the actual scale of the watch.
From here I think that I could have added more detail into the drawing, as well as the dissection could have been more thorough.

Principals:
Tension: The sense of strain applied to the composition, this can be demonstrated with lines leading to a point or tension between different objects achieved with space or arrangement.
transition: the visual gradual change of an object or form in a composition from one thing to end up somewhere else.
Proximity: the distance between visual elements and how they interact with one another.
Strategies:
Hierarchy: the contrast in dominance between elements in a composition, leading to give the image visual order of importance.
Balance: Where the elements in the composition stabilise one another, so the composition appears steady. As a whole, the composition appears equal (this may happen with or without symmetry)

Project 3 Progress Documentation
My group members are Melody Dai, Yuan Tao and Elena Lee.
Tuesday 15th May: As a group we compiled the values and healthy habits we had all used for Project 2, and decided on using Connecting with Others, Support & Respect, and Time Management.
Wednesday 16th May: During the optional tutorial we came up with a basic story line and sketched out a storyboard. We also decided what materials we needed for the video.
Thursday 17th May: We bought the supplies we needed for the project - t shirts, string and ribbon.
Melody sewed hoops of thread onto the shirt. I cut and painted the faces for the shirts, and also made the clock from scratch.
Friday 18th May: Together we sketched out a final storyboard that we would use for filming. I did some drawings of certain things that are in our video - shirts and books, to be put into the final storyboard, and Melody scanned these.
Saturday 19th May: We began filming. Elena took the photos. Melody, Yuan and me took turns holding up t shirts, adding/removing books from the shot, opening/closing books, and changing the time on the clock. They also attached the string to the t shirts
Sunday 20th May: Elena loaded all the photos into Adobe After Effects, timed it, added text, music and effects. Considering we hadn’t used After Effects before it was quite difficult to figure out but we are fairly happy with the final video.
Using photos taken for the video and the drawings Elena did on Friday, Melody did the final story board on Photoshop, printed it out and stuck everything on to the A3 paper.
Monday 21st May: As a group we went over our video again and added final touches & effects.

Poster 2 Audience
I wanted to focus on a teenage based audience for my second poster. Specifically for those who have a phobia, concentrating on the fear of the dark (nyctophobia), in New Zealand. I want to take a light-hearted approach to this subject making it cute and funny in its own quirky way. Portraying a symbol of the dark and then someone (a teenager) overcoming it. The implications of this poster are to make the viewer/audience smile and feel a little inspired.

Design Principles and Strategies with a Visual Time Progression
Using techniques such as contrast and balance, we see the progression of a bubble.
Tumblr media
Design principles that peaked my interest!
Symmetry- Aligning a design against an axis, mirroring or copying one side to create a uniform and balances piece both visually and literally.

Balance- Creating the same weight throughout the composition to result in a visually rounded and even image or design. Using balance can be helpful to tie a design together or to use a lack of balance to result in an uneven tension.

Hierarchy- use of hierarchy draws importance to a design or image. Placing certain elements higher in a design draws the eye and creates a sense of levels.

Proportion- Proportion in a design creates a sense of reality, as well as giving an overall feeling. Using proportion can bring depth to your image and a lack of proportion leans more into the abstract world.

Geometry- Using geometric shapes in your design adds structure, as well as creating a way to change and adapt your design without much effort.
