this song by penelope scott made me think so much of saurissa bruh
"but at least we had each other while the world was melting down, and then we fought each other while the world was melting down." is so tommy and her. their dynamic of caring for eachother but hating eachother completely and totally. some nights tommy wishes he could drive a knife through her heart like julius caesar. he wished he was the one there when she pressed the button. but he still cares. to much, actually. he can't help but care for her even if he hates her more than he hates anybody on the damn server because of what she did to him. forcing him to be a child soldier, her little side piece. nothing but a pawn who got shot through the heart.
his brain tries to convince him that she doesn't care, that she never did. it feels easier that way. but he knows that somewhere in that stupid, fucked up brain of her's, he's still her little brother. the one she made a country to protect him for. not that that means he can ever forgive her, but he can't ignore the fact that he does matter to her, no matter how many times she says he doesn't. actions speak louder than words, after all.
