That's all that's written on this slightly crumpled piece of paper.

Eddie hadn't even meant to read it; when he'd shaken out the grey sweatpants it had fluttered free, slowly falling to the ground, and when he picked it up to put it back in the drawer he caught his name. And he's always been far too curious.

Eddie knows as soon as he's read it that he absolutely shouldn't have. It's too late though. He's read it, he knows now, and he can't really unknow it.

This is the list of things Steve is trying to change in this timeline.

It knocks the air out of Eddie and his knees feel a little weak suddenly. He drops himself to the floor, one hand clutching the sweats, the other the note.

Make sure Eddie lives.

Eddie lives.

Which implies that Eddie died.

Eddie's not sure what that says about him, that he's never made the connection of Steve's soft I can't lose you confessions and that he might mean Eddie is dead, and not, like, having fled Hawkins before Steve could confess his lo-feelings or something.

He's never really taken the time to stew in what Steve meant because as far as Eddie was concerned, there was no losing him. Steve's already changed the way Eddie's life plays out; he's graduated a year sooner than he did in that other timeline. He's got a part time job at the local mechanics. And though he doesn't know details, he does know that still being in high school led him to the event Steve wanted to change.

Which was his death.

He takes several deep breaths. He's not going to die because Steve's already saved him so he can deal with this. It's not even an issue.

Moving past that. Save Max. There's no last name written, but both he and Steve know only one Max. Then the line below that. They both hate Billy, yes, but what's throwing Eddie off here is the written, then stricken out, does he deserve it? The use of save gives him pause, too. It says Make sure Eddie lives and save Max. So, Max doesn't die? What does she need saved from then?

This is when Steve finds him, entering the room with a, "Did you get lost, Eds? It's the top dra- oh," Steve is stopped two steps into the room when Eddie looks up at him.

"I didn't mean to read it but I saw my name and..." Eddie says, trailing off because he doesn't actually have anything to add. He's worried for a second that Steve will be mad at him but that thought goes as quickly as it appeared. Steve moves into the room, dropping to his knees before Eddie, hands coming to cup his face.

"Oh, babe," Steve's voice is gentle, his thumbs even more so as they swipe across his cheek. "I'm so sorry."

Eddie should be the one apologizing. He's done the one thing he wasn't suppose to. He's read the list! He knows the future! (sorta) "No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have read this."

Steve makes his I-want-to-argue face but it smooths over. The tone in Steve's voice when he speaks, sounding older than his years and so fucking tired, it break Eddie's heart. "I should have burned that. This isn't your burden to shoulder. I'll just take that and you can try and forget."

He's reaching for the paper and Eddie pulls his hand behind his back, away from Steve's grasp. "No."

"No?" Steve looks surprised. Honestly, Eddie's also surprised.

"You don't have to shoulder this alone," Eddie says, "I can help. We can fix this together."

It's strange to see hope mixed with sorrow in Steve's eyes. "I can't- there's so much I don't even understand, don't even know how to explain."

"Sweetheart, let me help," Eddie whispers, shifting to his knees to easily slide into Steve's space, press soft kisses to his face between his words," I (kiss) want to (kiss) help (kiss). Let me (kiss)."

On the last kiss Steve angles his face, capturing Eddie's lips with his own, his hands still on Eddie's face allowing him to hold Eddie steady as he presses in, deepens the kiss, runs his tongue along Eddie's lip and Eddie flicks his own tongue out in return. They kiss in an odd, calm-but-desperate, deep-but-lazy, soft-but-messy way. They end it panting, foreheads pressed together to feel grounded, Steve's hands still on Eddie's face, Eddie's hands braced on Steve's thighs as he leans into him.

"Once you know, you can't unknow. It's fucking terrible, Eds," Steve whispers, "I don't want to do that to you. I don't want you to hurt."

"But you hurt," Eddie counters, "and if you hurt, I hurt. Thems the rules."

Steve laughs and kisses him again, just a quick closed lip peck, "Dustin told me once, you die, I die. Mutual destruction really shouldn't be the first go-to for showing affection for the people I care about it."

"Says the man whose favorite way to show affection is stepping between someone and a fist, or claw, or whatever."

Steve rolls his eyes and pulls back. "Weren't you going to shower?"

"Plans change. We gotta finish arguing about you telling me about this," he waves the paper, now even more crumpled, between the two of them, "so that you can let me help."

"How about you take that shower, and meanwhile, I'll cook dinner and think about finishing this 'argument' you want to have," Steve says, and even though Steve doesn't physically make the air quotes motion, Eddie still hears it in his voice.

Eddie concedes on this, though, and after stealing a soft shirt from Steve's closet, does go shower. When he's done, he takes his time detangling his hair and towel drying it as much as he can before changing into the pilfered clothing and going down to dinner. Steve is washing up the dishes he used while cooking (because this fucker cleans as he goes, what kinda sicko does that?) so, Eddie gathers plates and utensils and sets the table (because they're the kinda sickos that eat at a dinner table) .

Dinner is pork chops, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It's delicious.

They just chat about the day under the silent agreement that serious conversations were for after dinner. Eddie packages up leftovers and wipes down the counters while Steve finishes dishes and Jesus Christ when did they become so normal and adult?

Well, Steve's been an adult for a while, technically, but also, he's still just barely 18 and that's just- Eddie tries not to think about it too much, the difference between Steve's age in relation to the amount of time it's been since he was born, but also since he was forced? chosen? made to? relive 3 years of his life again.

"Alright Stevie," Eddie says, crawling into his lap on the couch, his legs bracketing Steve's, pulling Steve into him, Steve's head on his chest and his head resting atop Steve's, a mirror of their first interaction, at that party that feels so long ago and also just like yesterday, "I do have a question about your list that I feel is safe to ask and for you to answer."

"Hmm?" Steve hums back, arms wrapping around Eddie as Steve nuzzles against him.

"Befriend me got crossed out, so getting me to graduate early was the option you seemed to be going with. Obviously, befriending me ended up working. So, how in the hell did you plan to make me graduate early if we weren't friends?"

Steve snorts a laugh and says, "you're gonna laugh at me."

"Of course, I am. Tell me anyway."

"I was going to attempt doing your homework and turning it in on your behalf. I even practiced making my handwriting look different."

Eddie does laugh at him, so much that his sides start to hurt, and he would have fallen off of the couch if Steve wasn't holding him so tightly.

Then Steve has the fucking nerve to say, without the slightest hint of embarrassment, "told ya you'd laugh at me."

Well, Eddie's got no choice but to take Steve's face in his hands and kiss him senseless after that.

"Can you tell me what you mean by save Max?" Eddie asks when the kissing is done and the mood changes to serious again.

"Eds-"

"No, listen. I was thinking in the shower and like, I'm not going to get all philosophical on you, but I do think you can tell me, and we can figure out things together, maybe, and I won't interfere or do anything to, like, jeopardize the timeline. Just listen and troubleshoot."

Steve pulls back from their cuddling to eye Eddie skeptically. "I don't believe any of that for a second."

"Yeah," Eddie sighs, sagging forward to rest against Steve as he leans back against the couch now, "I just- I want to save Max, too. Let me help."

"It should have been someone else."

Eddie hears the cut off sob, presses himself down like a weight blanket, "someone else?"

"To get the second chance, the do over," Steve says, voice wet and pained, "it should have been someone else. Someone who-who remembers shit, and actually knows things. Someone smarter. I'm so afraid that I'm going to fuck this up. But then I feel like shit for wishing this was someone else's problem instead of mine."

"But it wasn't someone else," Eddie says, "it was you." Then he waits for Steve to collect himself and speak.

"The Party, they think I shouldn't tell anyone," Steve presses a kiss to the top of Eddie's head that he hears more than feels, "if I change too much, I could end up fucking up a thing that has to happen for us to win. I shouldn't tell people, or warn them, because if they make decisions based on knowledge they shouldn't have? That could get someone killed."

"So tell someone not involved. Or someone who isn't involved yet. Someone not around during the events. Then none of you are making decisions you wouldn't have already been making, but someone behind the scenes can change things. Maybe even last minute?"

That seems to give Steve pause. Eddie wants to pull back to look at him, his thinking face is adorable, but instead he shoves his face into Steve's neck and just breathes him in.

"That- I hadn't even thought of..." Steve kisses Eddie's temple, "Eddie, baby, you're a fucking genius."

"I know but it's great to have it acknowledged."

"Alright, off, I've gotta make a phone call before it gets too late," Steve says, shoving at Eddie. Eddie goes willingly, rolling a full 360 off Steve's lap so he's kneeling on the couch, elbows resting on the back of it. His eyes stay on Steve, though, tracking him as he stands, adjusts his shirt as if anyone but Eddie can see him now, before moving to the phone. It's not mounted to the wall in the living room, just sat on its own table in a corner, chair nearby.

If Eddie's gaze drifts down to Steve's butt while his back is turned, dialing whoever he's calling, well, Eddie's got no shame in that. He's allowed to look.

"Hi Hopper, it's Steve. I need you to get Dr Owens to get a hold of me. I know you have a way. No- you've got to- ok. No. Yes, this is important. Something- there is something else coming. We're not in the clear yet. No! You know I cannot tell you that. We all agreed that I wouldn't tell you anything! Hop- Hop- HOPPER. I promise, I swear on my life, El will be fine. She'll be okay. I... I just need to talk to Dr Owens. Thank you. Have him call on a Tuesday, I'm always off on Tuesdays."

Eddie listens in on the whole conversation, because if it was meant to be private, Steve would have used the kitchen phone, or the one in his room. Rich people have more than one phone, Eddie's learned. Excessive. "Sounds like it went well?"

Steve wrinkles his face in a grimace. "It's still weird as fuck. They know I'm not lying about the future thing. Not when- ever since-"

Steve can't say it again, but Eddie knows what he's talking about.

Bob Newby.

Steve blames himself hard for him. With whatever happened before Steve's time travel shit -the thing that was so bad something answered Steve's prayers and wishes to change it- Steve hadn't even been thinking about Bob. It wasn't until Steve saw Bob at the Hawkins Lab that he remembered the outcome.

He'd tried to change it, to save Bob, but in doing so he'd just endangered himself more and then Bob's death, his sacrifice, had been in protecting Steve instead of the surprise attack that had apparently been what took him last time.

Steve still can't look Joyce in the face, much less meet her eye.

Eddie hates that there's nothing he can say to alleviate this guilt from Steve. He's tried but Steve... Eddie won't even forget how his voice cracked when he said 'I knew he was going to die! I knew it, should have remembered it, but instead of someone without several concussions and memory issues getting a second chance, it's me! The fuck up! I didn't remember Bob and now, this time, it's my fault he's dead.' And Eddie didn't have the words to make it better.

Still doesn't.

"So, he's going to have the Owens dude call?"

"He's going to try," Steve says, "but can't promise. So, we'll see."

June 24th, 1985

Steve is in the bathroom when it happens. The phone rings, and Eddie's in the kitchen, so he picks it up, and says, "Harrington residence."

"Is this Steve Harrington?"

"Uh, no, but if we just wait a moment he'll be available soon."

The voice on the other end hums, "I do have a time limit to this call."

What an odd thing to say- oh. Oh shit. "Dr Owens?"

There is silence on the other end and Eddie's afraid he's fucked this up for Steve until he hears, "and just what else has Steve Harrington told you?"

Eddie's got a choice to make now. He can lie, or he can tell the truth. Both options have consequences, he thinks, but Eddie knows what he wants to outcome to be, so he moves to get line of sight on the hallway Steve should soon be appearing from and says, "Just listen, please. I don't know nearly enough but I want to help. I can help. Listen to what Steve has to tell you, and fucking believe him. If you think I can help with anything after that, call again on Saturday. Between ten and two."

"I'll listen," is the only response he gets, and they sit on the line for what feels like an eternity before Steve comes into view. Eddie shouts his name into the receiver, feeling bad about that only after Steve's taken the phone and Eddie has retreated to the backyard, both to smoke and to give Steve privacy.

Steve is on the phone for almost four full hours. Thirty minutes into the call, Eddie suggests he take the call to his room, so he can at least sit down. Steve agrees and hands the phone to Eddie, who listens for the confirmation that Steve has picked up the upstairs phone before he hangs up the downstairs one.

As much as he wants to eavesdrop, he wants Steve's trust more. Steve is trusting Owens, and if Owens decides it, he'll get ahold of Eddie. If there's nothing Eddie can do to help, then he'll just have to be here for whatever the aftermath is.

June 29th, 1985

To say that Eddie is shocked that when he answers the phone on Saturday and it's actually Dr Owens on the other line would be an understatement. He knows he offered, and he hoped, but no amount of hope makes something happen.

"Your juvenile record leaves a lot to be desired, Edward Munson," Dr Owens says in leu of any other greeting when Eddie picks up with the usual 'Harrington residence'. Eddie doesn't like that the government wasted no time digging into him. He really doesn't like that Dr Owens know his name. "I am not one to hold someone to past mistakes. You wanted to help, and reluctant though I am to admit it, there is something you can do."

"Anything."

"Alright. What you need to do is be at the Fourth of July carnival, on the lookout for Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper. They'll get there later in the day, but I don't have an exact time for you. As soon as you've found them, tell them to go to Starcourt Mall because that's where the kids are. Then you go home."

Eddie wants to know why he can't come with them to the mall but knows better than to do that. "Okay, I can do that."

"I hate to be the one to remind you, but lives are at stake here. Do what I've told you and nothing else."

"I know."

"And..." Eddie can hear the hesitation in his voice, "and just know you might not see some people you are used to seeing in the days leading up to the Fourth. Don't go looking for them."

Jesus H Christ. How is Eddie supposed to not do that? How is he supposed to be okay with people being missing? He must take too long to confirm because Dr Owens speaks again.

"Edward. I promise you, they will all make it through this."

"Okay."

Hanging up with phone feels very final. He doesn't like that Dr Owens didn't assure him of their physical safety. Didn't say they'd be okay. Or that they'd be unscathed. It was basically the nicest way the guy could have said no one you care for dies this time.

July 4th, 1985

Eddie spends all day at the damn carnival. He posts up around noon, which is probably way too early but he's not going to fuck this up. He hasn't seen Steve in two days and he's trying not to freak out. Dr Owens said they'd all live but fuck, in what condition? Eddie doesn't know what's happening, what was supposed to have happened without Dr Owens involved, and hates that he doesn't know how these changes Dr Owens are making to the timeline will effect Steve.

In the other timeline he knows that Steve lives, at least. This time...

The sky starts to darken when a Cadillac pulls up hot and going much faster than it should be, flying past Eddie's van to find parking closer to the entrance of the carnival. It could just be some drunks excited to ride a Ferris Wheel but Eddie's going to investigate.

Eddie recognizes Hopper instantly, the unfortunate side effect of being with Steve. The Chief of Police has become a common occurrence, with Steve inviting everyone over for pool parties, or them being invited to the Byer's for Barbeques.

"Hopper! Joyce!" Eddie yells, getting their attention before they've made it past the last row of cars to the entrance.

"Eddie! Thank God!" Joyce rushes to him, Hopper hot on her heels, along with two people he doesn't recognize. "Where are the kids?"

"Starcourt Mall," Eddie says, "you have to get to Starcourt Mall as soon as you can."

Hopper looks back to the Cadillac, then to Eddie's van. "Everyone in the van."

"Oh, I'm not supposed to-"

"Van. Now."

Eddie scrambles into the driver's seat, buckling up as Hopper ushers the strangers and Joyce in before pulling the doors closed behind him. "Get a move on it, kid!"

Eddie starts the van and guns it. It'll be fine. He'll drop them off and then go home and wait. Like he's supposed to.

Except that doesn't happen. Hopper orders him to drop them off near the entrance, then park in a far back corner and wait. And how can Eddie argue with the Chief of Police?

It does give Eddie a view he never thought he'd see outside of horror movies. About an hour passes before another car pulls into the parking lot, stationing itself facing the mall, and the Wheeler's car still parked along the curb. The headlights on the car go out, and just as Eddie is leaning forward to try and get a better look at the car, something climbs atop the mall, pulling his attention from the car and holy shit what the fuck is that thing.

Eddie clamps both his hands over his mouth to stop from screaming. Then that thing drops into the mall and someone steps out of the car. The person makes it three steps from their car before what looks like the entire US military floods out the entrance of Starcourt, and several military vehicles come barreling around the mall, probably from the employee parking area.

Then there's a knock on Eddie's window and he's fairly certain he almost pisses himself in fear. He whips his head around to look and he just sees some older guy frowning at him.

"Edward," the man's voice is slightly raised but familar, "I believe I told you to go home."

"Holy shit!" Eddie unlocks his door and shoves it open, forcing Dr Owens to step back. Eddie goes to climb out but his seatbelt chokes him because he forgot he was still buckled in. He unbuckles but Dr Owens has moved back into his space, keeping him in his van.

"I'm Sam Owens," he finally, officially, introduces himself. "Care to explain?"

"Hopper made me do it."

Dr Owens doesn't even look surprised. He looks away from Eddie now, towards the flurry of movement happening around the mall. Eddie's eyes follow and he watches as Billy Hargrove, who he can now make out thanks to the spotlights from the fucking helicopters, gets tackled by two men twice his size.

"You're going to save him, right?" Eddie asks.

At that, Dr Owens does look surprised. "We're going to try."

He thinks of Steve's note. Save Max. Save Billy. "You better succeed."

Dr Owens looks like he agrees. He also lets Eddie stay. Make him sit in his car like he's in time out, and it feels like forever, but as soon as everyone Eddie's come to care about comes out the front door, Dr Owens tells Eddie to follow him, and they go join the group.

Steve looks beat to shit and Eddie runs to him, pulling himself back before he can fling himself at Steve and pull him into his arms.

"Jesus, Stevie!" Eddie says, taking in his puffy eye and split lip, and he can't stop the hand that reaches out to touch even though he absolutely should not be reaching for him in public- Steve slams into him, tucking his face into Eddie's neck. He doesn't hesitate to wrap his arms around Steve, starts whispering, "I've got you. I'm here and I've got you."

Steve finally pulls back when Joyce approaches, "Steve, let the paramedic look at you."

Steve steps back then but doesn't put distance between them. It reminds Eddie of what he said at graduation. 'I'm not afraid of a single person in this town'. Eddie wishes he wasn't afraid, either.

"Come with me?" Steve asks. Eddie nods, and follows.

They wait while Robin Buckley gets looked over, then it's Steve's turn. Robin takes Steve's place beside Eddie and they watch as Steve is examined. Eddie sees Robin giving him sideways glances, like she's afraid to fully look at Eddie, which is... something.

Once Steve is freed from the medic he steps up on Eddie's other side, the one Robin isn't stationed at, and says, "I need to talk to Owens before we can leave."

"Oh, uh, I'm kind of the Byers' and Hopper's ride. And the weird dudes they came with. They don't speak English."

Steve barks out a laugh at that. "Murray speaks English. And hooboy did we have to hear it from him. He doesn't trust the government."

Eddie doesn't know which of them was Murray, but he agrees. He gestures towards the mall, which some people seem to actively throwing gasoline on in an attempt to burn it faster? Eddie doesn't know. "Well, can't say I trust 'em either if this is the result."

"This is the Russian government's fault," Robin says.

"Oh, no, the Russians wouldn't be this kind of particular problem without our government," Steve says.

Robin just blinks at him. "Are we... still drugged?"

"You were drugged!?" Eddie whips around to Steve.

"Truth serum," Steve nods then seems to realize how quickly he said that and frowns. "It's taking longer to wear off. Or maybe this whole issue was resolved sooner than last time?"

"Shhhh!" Eddie shushes him with a hand on his mouth, looking frantically at Robin to see if she caught was Steve just said. "Stevie. Do not talk anymore tonight."

Steve licks his palm.

July 13th, 1985

It's an uncomfortable gathering around the table. Dr Owens, Chief Hopper, El, Joyce Byers, Steve, and Eddie are sitting at the Harrington dining table. They've all only just sat down, eyes on Steve.

"What do you mean you can't find me?" Steve asks as a whisper. With how silent it is, though, everyone hear.

El frowns. "You are gone. I cannot find you like I could Billy, or Dad, or Dr Owens. I do not know why."

After El had some rest and recovery, Steve had asked if she would look in his memories. Or be present while he remembered them. It was Dr Owens idea; maybe El could remember details that Steve himself did not pick up consciously, but heard to saw nonetheless. They'd attempted it last night to no success.

"Perhaps this has something to do with what... brought you back to this time," Dr Owens says, picking his words carefully with how slowly they left his mouth.

Steve nods before slumping in his chair, his brows furrowing as he thinks. Eddie thinks he's ridiculously cute when he makes that face. Joyce asks Dr Owens a question but Eddie's focus is on Steve. They're sitting next to each other, so he braves bumping his knee against Steve's. Steve responds by flashing him a smile and immediately hooking his ankle around Eddie's before falling back into his thoughts.

Eddie half listens to the conversation around him, half worries about Steve and what it means for him that El cannot find his mind. That being a by-product of the time travel thing seems logical. If Steve's consciousness was dropped into a younger body, the two minds couldn't exist at the same time. So perhaps, because El is searching for a Steve that, technically, no longer exists, she might not be able to find him?

"What about Project NINA?" Steve asks, bringing all conversation to a halt.

"How do you know-" Dr Owens cuts himself off. "No, I know how. Better question. What happened that we needed to actually use Project NINA?"

Steve looks haunted again, like he does when he remembers the timeline he destroyed. "Vecna happens. Spring break of '86. I- we can't talk about that here. I think- he can get inside people's head. Read their minds."

No one says it out loud, but everyone's eyes go to El for a moment and she looks uncomfortable.

"What if," Steve starts, like he's having a realization himself, "what if the reason I can't be found is for my protection? Vecna can read minds, get in there and make you think things- what if I'm being protected by whatever sent me back? Vecna doesn't know that I know what he's up to, 'cause he can't read my mind and know what happens in the future. Can't stop me from trying to stop him! Project NINA is like, a bring back memories thing, right? Take me there. Set it up away from Hawkins and take me there."

They discuss some more, trying to say a lot without saying anything incase Vecna was listening in right now. That's a thought that will keep Eddie up for months.

It's gets decided on that El will go with, to be able to try and reach Steve while he's trying to find his own memories. Hopper is going with because he's not letting El go alone, and that's when Eddie speaks up.

"Then I'm coming, too."

"Eds," Steve looks torn, like he wants to smile and frown at the same time.

"No. If Hopper's going for El's emotional support, than I'm coming for yours."

It's decided. Dr Owens will work on Project NINA, and arrange for them all to be picked up when it was ready.

"One last thing," Steve says, "once you're away from Hawkins, call me. There's someone I don't want involved in this. He's done enough damage. Oh, also, invest in some goddamn swim caps. If you think you can shave my head, or anyone else's, for your dunk tank, then you're going to get hit."

That night, Steve finally tells him what happened. What Dr Owens and he had planned. Steve only told Dr Owens about the Fourth of July, wanted to only change the last possible moment for worry of alerting Vecna to what was happening, worried about Vecna changing the plan if he knew.

He talks about Billy being possessed, how Will was, too, once. Dr Owens thinks they've managed to do that for Billy, but just to be safe, they're taking Billy somewhere. Steve didn't ask, but they're telling his dad that he got a scholarship to some college or other, full ride kind of thing. Max knows the truth, but she also knows he's alive. And knowing he's alive means Max isn't going to pull away from her friends.

Steve says he hopes that means Max is saved.

Eddie learns that Steve and Robin are going to become insufferable best friends, so Eddie had better make peace with that now.

Ha takes it all in, listens as Steve tries to downplay what he went through with humor. Like it was easier to endure just because he knew it was coming this time. It does end with Steve crying, just repeating they lived, this time, no one died, they're fine. And Eddie's smart to enough to know Steve isn't meaning all the people who did become a giant flesh monster; he's talking about they people he cares about. Hopper, who apparently died-but-didn't-die, and Billy.

He learns that last time El lost her powers, probably due to losing Hopper. But she didn't lose Hopper, or even have to fight the giant flesh monster. With the plans Dr Owens made, they'd already stormed and cleared the Russian base below Hawkins. It wasn't Dustin and Erica who freed Robin and Steve from their restraints, but some US military men. They'd waited until the Mind Flayer attacked the mall, dropped down inside it before torching it. They still needed the mall to burn down - there was a Russian base below it, after all.

Once Steve is finished, Eddie kisses his forehead and maneuvers them down in bed so he can spoon him. Steve melts into his touch, pulling Eddie's arms more firmly around him. Steve likes to be the little spoon, Eddie's happy to learn.

"I'm going to come out to everyone. Before we leave," Steve says, long after Eddie thought he's already fallen asleep. "You don't have to. We don't have to tell them we're together, but I want them to know."

The thought terrifies Eddie. He's been beaten up for the assumptions, it's hard to him to imagine what might happen if that words are made true by speaking them out loud. "Can I think on that?"

"Of course."

Eddie does think about it. He thinks about coming out to this little family they've cultivated and it's hard. Coming out to Wayne had been rough, and he was one person! And he'd told Jeff. But Gareth and Brian had just kinda... put the pieces together and told Eddie they didn't care who he liked so long as he never picked his boytoy over Hellfire night (and so far, Eddie hasn't!). Eddie can't imagine telling up to fourteen people all at once.

Fourteen separate people who could hate him.

But Steve seems so sure they won't. That he won't lose anyone when(if) he comes out to them. And fuck, the scariest part if that he kind of wants to. If he and Steve do this together, if they know they're together, he could hold his hand when they're all together. Sit as close as he wants to without the fear of being found out because they'd already know.

But if they aren't okay with it. Or they aren't okay with Eddie.

These people, this group, was Steve's first, so they might be willing to forgive Steve for his temporary lapse in judgment, but Eddie hadn't done anything to earn their trust. Respect. Willingness to not beat him to death for being gay.

And also, a tiny part of him is afraid of losing Steve if he can't commit to coming out.

"Steve," Eddie whispers as they sit on the couch, a movie playing but Eddie's not watching. "I'm scared."

"What?" Steve sounds so confused, and he quickly looks between Eddie and the movie. It's so enduring that Eddie must laugh about it, just a little.

"Not of Footloose. Of telling people. About us."

Steve's face softens and he looks so fond that Eddie aches. "That's okay, Eddie. You don't have to."

"But what if...."

"If?" Steve prompts.

"What if I'm never ready to come out? What if I- if we can't- What does it mean for us, if I never get there?"

"Oh," Steve says, like the thought that Eddie would never come out hadn't ever occurred to him. "Well, then I'll just be the bisexual who never dates again and lives with his best guy friend for the rest of his life."

That's like a gut punch in the best way. That Steve says it so easily, like he plans to stay with Eddie until he dies. Eddie can't fathom that. "Careful, Stevie. With words like that I might get ideas about you."

Steve looks serious now, but with a little upturn to his mouth. A small, secret smile. "Ideas, hmm. What sort?"

"That you might adore me."

"Well, I do adore you," Steve says simply, easily, "I love you, Eddie."

Eddie freezes because that's not- Steve couldn't possibly mean- that's. What. Eddie and he haven't even said the word boyfriend to each other yet and Steve's... Steve is looking at him with such fondness, adoration, love. Butterflies erupt in Eddie's stomach and as quickly as that little bit of dread had filled him, it's gone even faster. Eddie flings himself into Steve's lap, the need to kiss him until both of them are light headed is the only thing left inside Eddie.

Eddie doesn't say it back, can't really, but Steve must know because he keeps repeating it, with every breath Eddie allows him to take in between kisses.

The next morning, Steve wants to comes out to his found family at their Good Luck Project NINA BBQ, because Hopper, El, Steve, and he are going to be heading to Indianapolis that evening to be picked up by Dr Owens men tomorrow morning and everyone wanted a last get together.

Steve is fearless. Steve is fearless, and so strong, and he loves Eddie.

So, when he calls attention to everyone and starts the speech he rehearsed with Eddie, Eddie steps up. Slides his hand into Steve's, gripping it probably to the point of pain, but there. It doesn't matter how they'll react, because Steve loves him. And he loves Steve.

(And if he clocks Lucas and Max exchanging money about it, well, he can't even be mad about that.)

Just a little thing while i work on my first fic

- Eddie probably makes his own like, bracelets and other similar wrist accessories (wraps i think they’re called) to have something to fidget with

- Steve loves to cook and is good at it, and likes baking but can only use packet mixes or help other people without it turning into a disaster (baking is a difficult art, much more difficult than cooking)

- Steve wasn’t really a big fan of metal music at first but came to love it through listening to it with Eddie

- Sometimes the Party + Eddie will drag Steve along to Hellfire Club and he’ll sit and watch, and while he calls it a ‘nerd game’ and denys enjoying it, it’s obvious how invested into the stories and action he is just from watching him watch them play

- Steve has a major sweet tooth, while Eddie prefers savoury food

- Steve was completely oblivious to Eddie’s crush on him, while Eddie was fully aware of Steve’s and used that knowledge to his advantage, but somehow Steve was oblivious to the idea Eddie was actually flirting and just thought the universe was torturing him

- Not a Steddie headcanon, but, Steve and Robin have sleepover movie nights (occasionally the whole group will, but Steve and Robin have like, a girls night, Steve will never admit it but he lets Robin paint his nails because he likes the pretty colours)

The trailer shook as the front door slammed, causing Eddie to jump in his seat. He groaned as he looked down to see his pencil had dragged across the page, effectively ruining the summer homework he had been trying to solve. So much for actually trying, he thought to himself, after you had prompted him to put more effort into graduating. You swung the door open, surprising Eddie once again, this time causing him to jump hard enough and make his knees hit the table.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry Eddie, I didn't mean to scare you!" you whispered as you dropped to his side to make sure he was okay.

"It's fine princess, you didn't scare me that much, although I thought you were Wayne for a second. Are you okay?" he asked as he swatted your hands away, opting to hold them in his own instead. You just looked up at him, trying to force a smile and a slight nod.

"Baby, please, you come in here, opening and closing doors with the force of an army, you don't seem okay." Eddie muttered as he stood up from his chair and pulled you along with him to the mattress. His face dropped when he saw a tear drop from your eyes, immediately grabbing your legs and moving you to sit on his lap.

"Talk to me, what's wrong? Did somebody hurt you?" Eddie asked as he ran his thumbs over your cheeks, trying to catch stray tears as they rolled down your face.

"N-no, I'm fine, nobody hurt me. I'm okay." you managed to push out as you tried to calm yourself down.

"Okay, calm on, cry it out, let it all out sweetheart." he whispered as he pulled you into a hug, running his callused fingers over your back. Letting go, tears now streamed down your face and into his hair and shoulder as you clung onto your boyfriend's torso. Eddie continued to comfort you and run his fingers through your hair and rub your back, encouraging you to cry as much as you needed to.

"Shh, you're okay, I've got you princess. Just focus on my breathing, come back to me" he'd mutter as he placed your hand on his chest. Eventually you calmed down and the tears had stopped, cheeks and eyes now puffy from having sobbed for a good 10 minutes.

"Is it bad to say that you look extra pretty right after having cried?" Eddie teased, trying to lighten the mood. You tried to hold in your laughter, but you couldn't help but giggle at his comment. He always had something to say about you being pretty.

"Now, wanna tell me what happened?"

"I just, god, I had such a bad day. I woke up to my parents fighting, and it was bad because I didn't get very good sleep last night. We ran out of milk so I couldn't have my cereal, I just had toast, and plain toast, because of fucking course my parents forgot to buy groceries last night. Then I got to work and these teenagers were giving me shit for not having something in the library, how is it my fault for not having a book, does it look like I own the library? And then on my way here I got cat called by some gross old perverts, they looked old, like ancient. To top it all off I stepped in mud trying to get here so my socks got wet. I don't think I've ever had such a tiring dady."

"Why didn't you come over last night? I could have helped you sleep, I know you sleep better when you're in my arms."

"I didn't want to disturb you, Eds. I know how hard you've been working trying to catch up on summer work, I knew you'd be tired."

"Baby, you are never disturbing me. I will always want to spend time with you, even if it's you waking me up at 3 am to cuddle and sleep. Don't feel bad, next time just come okay?"

"Okay..."

"And if your parents still haven't gone grocery shopping, let's go together, yeah? I'll gladly take you. As for the teenagers, do you know who they are? I wouldn't mind roughing them up a bit. The two of you laughed as you held each other, taking in the feeling that you brought. Comfort, warmth, and love. Just one look at Eddie and you knew your worries would fly away like paper in a storm. His smile was bright enough to cure all your sadness and pain, you just needed an extra pick me up today.

"Well, now that you're here, I have a good idea!"

"What is it?"

"I'll put on some of your favourite music, and we can cuddle and take a nap, and regain some of that energy you lost while you practically drenched my shirt."

"Eddie, you hate ABBA, and I'm sorry for the shirt..."

"I don't hate ABBA, not if it makes you happy, I'd do anything for that. And don't apologize, it gives me a reason to take it off." he exclaimed as he winked at you, causing you to chuckle in response. You moved further up his mattress until you were laid on your back. Eddie tossed you a different shirt to change into, and joined you once you were done.

"I meant every word, Y/N, I'd do anything for you. I'm sorry you had such a shitty day, but I hope I've made you feel a bit better." he murmured as he ran his finger over your nose bridge.

"I felt better the second I saw you, Eds." you responded. He pulled you into his grasp and wrapped his arms around your stomach, nuzzling his head into the crook of your neck. Even though you felt miserable less than 30 minutes ago, you had completely forgotten about all your worries, now that you were in Eddie's arms, safe, and where you always wanted to be.

now that Noah admitted that episode 8 is "pretty sad" im thinking that will somewhat confesses and then mike (with all of his internalized homophobia) doesn't take it well or needs time to process and then in episode 9, where Noah said "you'll have to see" that's when mike gets vecnad and IN THAT TRANCE he thinks will is getting vecnad but he's actually the one...and in that trance he gets so scared and confesses his love for will because Finn said in an interview "mike kicks into action once he sees that the people he loves are in danger" (or thinks, since it's not actually happening and vecna is controlling him) and then once will and Johnathan get mike out of the trance then mike ACTUALLY confesses the truth to will about what he has felt for so long. duffer brothers I am onto you.

Ok so, even if I'm actually impressed by all the stuff that happened, I feel like the only thing I can talk about (bcs I got better in it by reading u guys) is Byler and melvin, Im so sorry.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

This season has been rough. I have some issues and contradicts ideas. First of all, (this is about the calls and the first moments) Mike's treatment to Will could be again interpreted as he cared more of her girlfriend, or he was trying to avoid Will to face the reality . So, we could have two different positions about his feelings and it could be both valid but... Ok, to the important scene, the melvin fight.

So, I had two different thoughts, first one, it showed the lack of one of the most important things for the Duffer Brothers in a relationship: comprehension, understandment. if u remembered J*ncy's fight, it started because they "didn't understand each other anymore" which was again the Melvin situation they had. This is caused by one of the things that the duffers brothers have mention, Mike and Eleven comes from different worlds, and therefore they can't be together and they can't understand each other, like a ghost and a Ghostbusters or E.T and Elliot, that Lucas and Erica's scene with the two toys... So, this is good for byler, right?

Well I noticed sth else that kind of scared me, this fight had an obvious St*ncy parallel, which was the "ily" thing. It shouldn't be bad, we had been given this St*ncy - Melvin parallels, just like we had j*ncy-byler parallels, but... This first volume showed us that... maybe j*ncy isn't the endgame couple so, this season kind of turned upsidedown (lol) the byler parallels proofs, or at least the J*ncy-Byler ones (which doesn't delete the Mike-Hopper ones that could be giving us anti-melvin proof still).

But again, the fact that J*ncy could not be endgame is another way of helping Byler (because all of the two brother thing¿? but they did it with El anyway-). Let's say that it makes things for Mike and Will much more easy and less weird to see for the audience.

And it is so funny to me because that's why I am so confused, they gave us proof telling us yes, and no HAHAHAH.

Another example of this is the "best friend" scene: Sr did u just asked him to be ur best friend when u are telling him he is the MOST SPECIAL person you had (LMAO where was that special Lucas-Mike relationship Dustin talked about??Things change ik, but still, it could be Byler proof, but not necessarily) and that he missed him so much eventhough you didn't called him more than 3 times (which would totally support that theory of the avoiding feelings. If you missed someone u would call them lol).

And, the part where Will tells Mike THAT quote, about telling the truth even if it hurts, we can't be sure if he's just reflecting his feelings about his confession onto Mike and El, or is a total foreshadowing of what is about to happen with this "ily" thing.

Another thing I was so surprised to see is that, Mike wasn't only reading the letter in front of that sign pointing at the closet, but IN the letter, it had rainbows on it, WTF (that is not only related to LGBT, but WILL and Will and Mike too (that rainbow heart draw from Mike's bassement in the very beginning of the 1st season??)

Even so, I felt like this season, everyone has used rainbows and it seemed like they didn't have a meaning anymore (Like Nancy's hair accesorie, or other clothes too).

I also wanted to point out that the roller rink byler fight had BLUE and YELLOW colors like----.

Another thought is that Mike's feelings have been shown as admirence towards El. The first scene where Dustin is talking to Mike about their girlfriends, Mike says that she saved the world and he only kept repeating that thought but, he didn't actually showed love, he showed again, admirance (that is why El wanted to keep being a superheroine, so he could keep Mike's feelings) throught out the season.

If you mix this with the fact that he can't say he loves her, the theory and interpretention of Mike avoiding Will and his feelings, and that Will's truth quote could be a foreshadowing, it could work for byler A LOT.

Also and I almost forgot to mention, the "it has always been" scene or sth like that), at the end it resulted in a Byler scene, and I wanted to remember the theory someone came up about the poster¿? thing in the back (the square one) that it was somehow (I don't remember how) connected to LGBT people again so, Byler in front of another LGBT icon? yeah.

That's why I am so confused rn, but I am still hopefull bcs of that "telling the truth" scene, and that it has this different proofs, so this doesn't confirm or deny anything.

And we still have to watch Mike's speech and Will's drawing which I am so excited about.

This is all so caotic but, as i am so confused rn, I can't put them together. But this post will help me to organize my ideas and split them one by one, I just wanted to take all these notes first.

So these were all my Byler thoughts through out the season, I am really looking foward to read yours.

Im a little pissed so here’s what I think Mike could’ve been this season with a little byler

So let’s say everything about Mike stays the same up until the top of the car convo and we see mike look at Will when he isn’t looking and something clicks. Fast forward the car scene and the painting (I’m changing that completely cause fuck that) Will presents a painting of them as kids meeting on the swings, at the bottom it says “saying yes was the best thing I ever did” Mike gives Will a proper hug and they talk more but literally just like best friends would poking at eachother and teasing eachother. Fast forward they’re in Hawkins mike gets Vecnad and we see him and will as kids on the swings but someone else approaches will first and we hear vecna say “you always knew he deserved better” suddenly mike is in his room a month or so before Will leaves and they’re both sitting on the bed reading comics. Mike is looking at Will. Will looks at him with disgust. “Why would he ever love you” suddenly were at the scene in the rain, mike is watching himself yell at Will. Mike is crying. Vecna is about to get him completely when we hear Should I Stay or Should I Go. He sees Will sobbing and Nancy sobbing and everyone yelling. He runs. He falls back onto nancy and Will is there and gives him a hug. After they calm down Will asks why that was his favorite song. Mike replies that it’s because it reminds him of will. At the end El and Mike talk, El says that she’s so great full for mike but thinks it’s better if they just be friends and if she tries to truly understand who she is. Mike tells her that she’ll always be his super hero and that he’ll always be her biggest supporter. They cry and hug

The end, obviously I want byler to be cannon and I’m fine that it’s not. Like genuinely I don’t hate milkvan and think of it was developed correctly with more of El being less dependent it could be a great ship. and also using queer characters misery to further a straight ship is atrocious

I’m sorry that the duffer brothers felt that this was good enough writing to finish something amazing, and i am willingly ready to partake in a rewrite of vol 2 because this was blasphemous. (apologies ahead of time for the sheer amount of ranting i am going to do)

okay like first?? steve??? just. no. that whole spiel about the six ‘nuggets’ (that wounded me) and him LITERALLY SAYING THAT LIKE HES STILL IN LOVE WITH NANCY AND HE WANTS HER TO HAVE S I X KIDS WITH HIM ITS LIKE HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW HER BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW SHE AINT BUILT FOR THAT. ALSO nancy was in the middle of talking about robin, a person for whom they both care about, and its like he just redirected the conversation onto him. it looked like someone tried to inject more ronance but then someone else just like sidestepped it into Steve/Nancy, which was SO bad. Steve and Nancy shouldn’t be a thing. they just cant give each other what they need. Same with Jonathan and Nancy. Honestly, I did enjoy their relationship in all the past seasons, but s4 its been so strained and weird and the fact that Jonathan didnt even come clean to her at the end about the college apps was just ridiculous, and the exact moment i knew that they weren’t going to last. even their interactions at the end seemed weird and stiff, like neither of them really wanted to be there. (I hope they dont make her get with either of them. And maybe im just a diehard Ronance shipper, but Robin and Nancy make the most sense!!!)

Second point- Robin and Vickie

10000000.999999% unneeded and unwanted and unfunctional. If youre going to give the only explicitly confirmed gay character a love interest, the worst thing you could do was use the ‘oh no my crush is straight oh wait no she dumped him and now i think she likes me’ trope. tired, overdone, nasty. not even to mention the fact that Vickie is just. a straight (haha) up clone of Robin. They are the same person. They could be revealed to be cousins in s5 and i wouldnt be surprised. It’s tasteless and pathetic to watch. And it’s even more hurtful, because so many of us fans genuinely are in love with Robin and invested with her because we can connect to her the most, and the Duffers just cop out of a genuine and amazing relationship (ronance) and just turn to the basic and unflavorful This Was Obviously Written By A Straight Person relationship of Robin and Vickie.

And Max. And, you know let’s loop in Eddie too. Since they both died. Oh wait.

I’m not even sure to tackle Max’s death. i love her SO MUCH. she’s my second favorite character (right behind Robin). if i was in that situation, i would have let her die. its just easier, and we dont even know if, once dead, she even wanted to come back. this trope of bringing someone back always has consequences, which is why im not really a fan of it in the first place. it requires delicate writing because the situation can get bad very fast. and as of vol 2, im not sure the duffers can do it. (that being said, obviously i dont know their plan for max, but plots like these are kinda hit or miss yk? its just such a big thing)

Eddie’s death was anything but compelling. Like, i knew he was dying but i was kinda…. bored? idk if thats the right word to use, but it just felt kinda off. and the fact that no one addressed it besides Dustin, like, Eddie had so many more friends. and in my mind i think the whole ‘eddie died saving a town that didnt love him’ was more of a white lie for his uncle, because eddie didnt owe Hawkins anything. i mean, it does make him a hero in the way that everyone who helped was a hero, but not everyone needs a ‘redemption’ arc to better be accepted by society. like, his whole thing was kinda that he was different and he didnt care what other people thought. and he had so much potential too!!!

ok i’m 2 weeks late but the unending billy hate just.. hurts my soul because it’s never a nuanced conversation. people refuse to admit that even though he’s done and said messed up things, he’s still a victim of abuse. i do blame the duffers for that because all they care about is demonizing him. dacre montgomery tried so hard to focus on billy’s abuse and insecurities and how that resulted in his shitty actions and adopted views from his father. he’s so real. not every abuse victim is overly kind and “docile.” he’s an angry person. victims of abuse can be angry and violent because that’s all they’ve been shown, but that doesn’t mean they “maybe deserve to die.” maybe the deserve a chance to change with proper care. ugh the way stranger things has handled billy’s abuse is so damaging to abuse victims. neil faces no consequences. max’s mother makes no mention of it despite witnessing it. a random basketball player’s abuse can be focused on but not billy’s? the way people say billy is worse than brenner & peter creel! it’s absolutely ridiculous. there’s also this misogynistic, hetnormative way in which antis will say that the only people who like billy are woman who think he’s hot. and don’t get me started on that hate dacre receives for trying to humanize his character and how he’s been ostracized by the duffer brothers. i could talk about this forever lol. anyways, he and steve are in love but the duffers saw that they were too powerful bye.

What i have to add is my opinion on the fact that ppl call him racist and abusive.

Billy does in season 2 say something implicitly racist saying max shouldn’t hang out with ppl like lucas. But the duffers are cowards that refuse to touch on any racism in the 80s. Im p sure its by the request of caleb who plays lucas, but theyve had characters say the f slur, had episodes about misogyny and yet they refuse to acknowledge the racism lucas may have faced even in passing. Im not saying lucas should be hate crimed but i feel like it would explain why he really wanted to be accepted by the basketball team and obsessed with being popular in season 4.

The duffers never follow up on the racist comment billy made and its not talked about at all in season 3. it is not a reoccurring or central trait to billy. Billys racism is as relevant as the byers dog to the duffers. They forget everything they write.

The ppl who say hes the evilest person on the show are hard core projecting their own highschool bully onto him. I saw ppl saying jason was not as bad as billy and jason actually shot at lucas with the intent to kill him when billy pushed him up against a wall aggressively (i think the cast and creators even said this). Jason is the personification of rich white christian heterosexual America and the violence that comes from their ignorance. Billy is literally a poor metal head that gets called gay slurs by his father. Jason has the power of the entire town behind him hunting down the party; billy is just some angry punk with no outlet that finds his little sister in a creepy house with a bunch of boys and a high school senior in the middle of the night.

I for sure get not liking billy but idk how it became so extreme and mainstream. It used to be just infighting in the fandom but now its all over tiktok and hating him is The Opinion to have.

I think it might be because the show is so black and white about whether or not a character is good or evil and people can’t handle that billy has any complexity at all.

Also is it a crime for a man to be attractive? Ppl will crucify you if you don’t have a moral reason for liking a character istg. Maybe he’s the only character on that show that has any depth AND has a fat ass??? Ever think of that??

okay i've read so many posts similar to this but i guess i kinda need to get it out as well.

first of all at this time of consumerism of tv shows and movies, representation became much much more important compared to earlier decades. we need diversity and i dont care the aspects of it just diversity. race, political opinion, sexuality, religion i just dont care we need every single of that and we've been craving for it for such a long time. we DESERVE it. especially from the queerbaiting perspective we just deserve it.

and i'm sick of having to talk about this in 2022. this is fucking embarrasing for humanity.

okay let me just get back to st point of it.

im just leaving will to the end because god thats gonna take time.

everyone in st has some deeply heavy trauma but lets just focus on max's just for the sake of my rambling and vol 1 aspect of it. max had clearly depression. she lost a family member she is just pushing herself away from everyone who cares about her etc. the scene where max was captured by vecna i just immediately thought "yeah i mean she cant die that would just be trash and duffers wouldn't do that you have to show some strength you have to show a meaningful scene where she needs to rescue herself i mean this is the point of the show, outcasts survive, LIVE, they realize their worth and they have each other" and then she was finally able to run away from her *demons*/vecna/ and came to realization that her life is worth something was so impactful. I fell in love with the scene because thats all we could ask for. We can overcome our mental issues. We just need strenght, love and support system. What is the point of the storytelling if you build up your characters' background in such a rich way but then just throw it in trash by killing them in such a weak fearful way??

oh my god will. he is a gay boy in 80s. he is getting bullied by his father and classmates because of it. he is in love with his straight best friend. their group is getting bullied for being *nerds* as well. he is basically the representative for hundreds of gay kids in 80s. a lot of people saw themselves in will. they get bullied, they get attacked, they get called as an outcast just like will.

so from the point of storytelling; what is the impactful, meaningful and honestly the RIGHT direction for will? Well thats fucking easy. He needs to find happiness and love he deserves. He need to realise that he is NOT a mistake or burden for those around him. He needs to be appreciated and get the support system he needs.

My boy got fucking dragged down to the upside down. he got back and everything changed. the boy who he is in love with changed, their dnd group changed. He was just trying to cling onto something that made him happy and their friends didnt even see that. then as time progresses he just became more and more like a silent forgotten character in the group??? he moved away from the only place he knows as home and then his best friend didnt even try to stay in contact with him??? but will is still in love with him?? but he still thinks he is the mistake?? he is wrong for being like this?? and his friends dont even care about him?? they forget his fucking birthday??? actually noone cared about his fucking birthday?? he just fucking cried his eyes out in the car with his best friend sitting next to him and noone noticed??? he cant even find the words to tell his brother how he feels and somehow we should be okay??? he just watched his best friend saying the day he disappeared was the day he was born and somehow that should be romantic from another point of view???

im so fucking angry im just gonna stop.

will could be so beautiful. will's arc could be soooo meaningful. he had all the powerful elements. he was the hero he was the HEART of the group. i dont care what anyone says. he was the survivor and he was wise one with a lost voice.

as much as i love byler i didnt need to have it. i just needed will to be in peace with himself and find some resolution. i needed him to be free of his demons. i needed his running max scene. he deserves it so fucking much.

but instead we get blinded, on the verge of death max and crying his eyes out, trying to save a weird meaningless straight relationship will.

How do you think Steve's dynamic with Max and Lucas is like off screen post S2 and possibly in the future seasons if the Duffers focus on it?

Also i low key wish we got El and Steve interacting before the whole 'moving out of Hawkins' arc started in the end of S3 but at least we'll see El and Jonathan interacting and im excited to see that too..

So I’m going to start with Max and Steve. I think off screen post season 2 their dynamic was a very chill one. I think they just liked to be around with each other. Like I don’t believe they had that brother/sister thing right away. While they definitely get along I think Max might be a little bit weary to call Steve her brother in a sense. Even though he was beaten by Billy and stood up for her and the party, I don’t see them having that close of a relationship in the first few months after that disastrous night. They definitely consider each other friends. After a few months I think they would have become closer. Like since season 2 and 3 has only months of a gap maybe between March or April did I think they really became close. Steve is also a worrier so he would totally make sure that Max is not being messed around by Billy. I think the party had to tell everyone what Max did so Steve would be 100% touched that she did that for him. But also the guilt would settle in and he would realize that she was the one protecting him and not the other way around. And Max would have guilt because even though it was Billy’s actions: she was the reason he was even there to begin with so she would feel guilty. However, I am not entirely sure if they would have had that conversation I think it’s a high possibility that they did and a high possibility that they didn’t. Now moving forward in the future I want them to have that brother/sister dynamic. Max lost Billy (which I hate billy but you can’t ignore the fact that max saw him die in a horrific way) so I think Max would try to latch onto a person who she feels safe around and who acts in a sibling like way to her. With the background acting in their scenes that they have together Max does look to Steve in stressful times and for guidance. Like in season 3 when he repeats what Nancy and the rest of them are telling him: she completely is looking at him the whole time. She’s trying to figure out how he handles it and what his idea are to figure everything out. So I think there should be more focus on that and Steve trying to figure out the best way to be a brother like figure to her without making her feel like she’s just a tiny kid.

Okay now since that was so long I’m putting Lucas and Steve in a separate paragraph. In off screen post season 2 I think they were not close for that first few months. Lucas would be caught between seeing Steve as a ‘cool’ person and not a ‘cool’ person. Like I think Lucas would totally respect Steve now (unlike in the first season) but also wouldn’t show that to Steve. In season 3 when Mike rings the bell to scoops ahoy: Lucas kinda shrugs after Steve says ‘again seriously?” Which I kinda see Lucas’s shrug as a ‘what do you expect’ kinda shrug. also you still have that guilt with Billy again like max and Steve have. However, I don’t really see them having a full conversation about it. Maybe after everything Lucas just says thanks or something like that but they don’t truly talk about it. There’s a barrier there that the two haven’t fully crossed enough to talk about it. Now, I fully believe that Lucas was the first one to see Steve at Scoops with his outfit. And Lucas just burst out laughing. Unfortunately though Lucas was with Erica and his family because I have a feeling Erica would totally ask her mother and father about it constantly. So they went and when Lucas saw Steve he had a little bit of a shock moment and then just laughed so hard that he couldn’t stop. Going forward: I want Steve and Lucas to bond over basketball. I want Lucas to come to the fact that basketball to him is trying to fit in while also being a part of who he is. Like they’re growing up they should be able to have different hobbies and understand that. However, I also want it to be addressed that it’s different for both of them. Lucas is black while Steve is obviously not. So I want this addressed and another thing that they should address is the whole Billy situation. Billy targeted them for very different reasons. He targeted Lucas because he was black, meanwhile steve was targeted because billy has a macho man thing and billy just wanted to take down Steve. The circumstances are not the same at all and it should be addressed. However, I want the conversation to be in a very respectful way. Once Lucas voices his frustrations I believe that Steve would be respectful about it. And I don’t want this conversation just to be done because the writers realize it should be in there. Basically I don’t want the convo to be forced. I also want Lucas to have some resentment for Steve about bringing Erica into everything. It would be such a nice twist and refreshing to see that in a way. And I want Steve and Lucas to be in a team sort of way. In season 2 they actually make a pretty great team. In the bus when Steve is being surrounded: it’s Lucas who yells out to Steve that there are more. So seeing them team up and looking out for one another would be amazing to see. Pretty much I believe that Steve and Lucas have a very complicated dynamic which is something that I love about these two. They’re similar but also not and that’s what I love with character dynamics. They totally have their moments with just being chill and easy dynamic but overall I think there’s a lot that has to be unpacked in order for them to reach this sort of harmony like friendship/dynamic.

Also yess!! I wish there was more Steve and El interactions before the moving away! Because like they have two-ish scenes in season 3 and they’re very small scenes too. One is with max and the other is with everyone else in the last episode. And they have such a potential that I think should really have happened. They would be such amazing friends and work so well together! I’m also hopeful to see Jonathan and El content. I also can’t wait to see how the Byers and El work together. Because so much trauma has happened to them so they’re going to clash on how to handle certain situations. Sorry this was such a long response but I have a lot of thoughts about character dynamics.

today was the award shows, i was never good with awards or interviewing or anything like that just cause i always kept to myself and wasn’t that type of person, but being on a show i had to do all the side things that came with it.

“y/n come get ready with me and millie!” i heard sadie say as she entered into my room, as i nodded and smiled.

i got up and looked at my dress falling in love with it, each and everyone i would see it.

it was a long black dress that i paired with black heels.

i hurried down the stairs to see sadie and millie dancing and singing r.e.m to each other.

“i could buy you anything but i cannot buy you.” i sang as they looked at me I’m surprise.

“who knew you could sing?” millie said - “ you don’t know a lot about me.” i said winking at the two girls smiling ear to ear.

i started putting my makeup on as i was dancing to my my my! by troye sivan that i didn’t even notice that sadie was recording me dancing

she posted the video and caption it as ‘ someone is excited for the awards.’ as i watched the video i looked back at the two girls smiling at me.

“what the hell?! i can’t have finn see me half ready.” i said, the first thought being of my boyfriend.

“you look fine.” millie replied coming up beside me and putting her hands on my shoulder to comfort me in a way.

ive been dating finn for a while and at the award show we planned to announce our relationship while taking pictures by posing together as a couple.

as i got back in my room to start getting ready, my phone made the message tone telling me i had a message.

it was finn.

he sent me the video of me dancing and in a blue text bubble it said, ‘you’re a cutie.. also noah says hi.’ the message made me laugh out loud then i quickly wrote a response and finished getting ready.

i looked at sadie and millie and they looked great.

“you guys look so pretty.” i responded as i saw them waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs.

“so do you!” they said at the same time which made us all laugh, couple minutes later we got in the limo and headed to the awards, the whole way there we sang songs and talked about how happy we were for season three.

but all i could think about was finn, seeing him and making our relationship public, i remember when we had a fight because we were live streaming and the fans kept asking if him and millie were dating.

flashback——-

“ask us questions!” finn said as i sat beside him, but not to close for the fans to suspect anything.

i leaned in and looked into the comment section where all the comments looked the same.

i had my face in the pillow and just laid there wanting to leave the world, i wanted so badly to smash my lips against finn’s to show the people commenting i was dating him, but it wasn’t that easy.

as i stopped thinking, i felt the bed dipped knowing someone else was in the bed with me.

“y/n/n” i heard finn’s voice and i sighed.

“go away.” i protested, “y/n/n” he said again, and this time i turned over to look at him.

“what?” i said waiting for his protest,

“what’s wrong?” he asked me coming closer to me.

“nothing.” i said avoiding eye contact with him.

“so you just call your mom when she’s working all the time?” he asked me and i gave him a death glare.

“okay. it’s just, ive liked you for so long and seeing those comments just makes me- i don’t know finn-“ I was saying but finn interrupted me.

“jealous?” he said and i smiled from embarrassment and laid back down not wanting to be faced with looking at him.

he was then right in front of me, inches away from me actually. “ y/n. i like you. i chose you. if i wanted to date one of them then i would but i don’t cause i want you.” he said and i grabbed his face and smashed my lips against his.

flashback over.

“y/n we’re here.” sadie said to me breaking me out of my thoughts, i got out seeing the red carpet, the paparazzi and the fans waiting behind the barricades but no finn, or any of the boys here.

“y/n! go talk to the fans.” my security guard said as i walked over signing things and taking pictures with fans and walking along.

i got to the red carpet and started posing by myself even though i wish finn was beside me, i tried to forget that he wasn’t there and just posed and laughed with the paparazzi.

as i was posing someone grabbed onto my arm, shocked i looked over and saw finn as i smiled and hugged him.

“you look so beautiful ” he whispered in my ear as i blushed at him.

“finn!, y/n! smile over here”

“you guys are so cute!”

“smile this way.”- “come on. you aren’t giving me anything.”

was all i heard and from all the flashes it was hard for my eyes to adjust after getting my picture taken so many times.

i then felt finn grab my hand, “ come on.” he said as we moved along the carpet to the interviewing section, as finn was ahead of me i finally got to see what he was wearing and he looked great.

“y/n! finn!” an interviewer called us over as we walked over to the tall man with a short camera man.

“you guys look so great for tonight!” he said and i smiled and thanked the interviewer.

“any spoilers you can tell us for season three for me.... at least.” he asked, i laughed before responding.

“i would... but the duffer brothers would probably send the demogorgon from season one and the demo- dogs from season two after me-“ i was saying but then finn interrupted me.

“i want her here and safe so we cannot do that.” finn said as i looked at him with heart eyes.

“are you guys dating?” the interviewer asked me as finn interlocked his fingers with mine.

“uh- yes.. yes we are.” i said stuttering from how nervous i was, “so is he the mike to your eleven?” the interviewer asked as i smiled at looked up at finn.

“she is. she makes me really happy.” he replied which made me blush.

after few more questions, we walked to the building where the award show was actually being held and found our seats rather quickly.

“you nervous?” finn asked me, i looked at him being so confused, “for what?” i responded.

“you’re up for an award baby.” he said as i totally forgot, “ i probably won’t win, i don’t even have a speech planned out.” i said as he laughed at me then the lights went down.

“now up for the last and final award of the night.” the announcer anounced and i grabbed onto finn’s hand for comfort.

“and the winner is.... y/n l/n.” as i heard my name, i felt like i was dreaming but instead i connected my lips with finn and hugged sadie, millie, gaten and caleb who were beside them.

“uhh.. hi.” i said into the microphone. “i don’t have a speech, but i would just like to thank the duffer brothers and Shawn Levy for giving me the privilege to even be on this show.. and wow ok im crying.” i said taking a moment as i turned my back to the audience and heard them clap and cheer for me.

“okay and finally id like to thank my boyfriend and also cast member, finn wolfhard for existing and always helping me with lines and pushing me to be the best actress i can possibly be. thank you i love you baby.” i finished shedding some tears as the announcers brought me backstage.

this is one award show no one will forget.

Sarah knocked on the apartment door tidying her dress up as she waited for Dacre to answer, "hey! Welcome back" he smiled at her, "hey, how you liking the apartment?" Sarah asked as she walked in and sat on the sofa, "ye it's nice, enjoying the calm before everyone gets here" he says laughing, "oh ye it can be crazy, You know where I am if you need to escape the madness, although Chloe and Katie can be a little crazy" they both laughed, it was quiet for a minute until Dacre spoke up, "how old is your daughter again?" Sarah smiled thinking about her "she's 2 and a half, I couldn't imagine my life without her, you will see her when you come for lunch but I warn you she will probably have you with hair clips in before you leave" she smiled shaking her head, "oh god, it's ok I'm used to it I have a sister" Dacre said looking at her smile.

There was a knock at the door and the pair smiled at each other and headed for the door, Dacre opened it and it was Sadie, "hey guys!" She said getting them both in a hug, after they did the greeting and Sadie took her bags upstairs they headed over to Sarah's apartment for lunch.

"Mummy!" Katie Shouted once the door opened and ran in to her arms, "hey baby girl did you miss me?" Sarah asked while hugging her daughter, "yep!" Katie said as she looked at the two strangers stood behind her mom, Sarah noticed her staring, "oh baby these two guys are going to be working on our show! How exciting!? Say hello to Dacre and Sadie", the little girl whispered a faint "hi".

Sadie stepped forward and said "Hello Katie I'm Sadie I love your dress!" She smiled at her then looked at Dacre, he stepped forward and kissed her hand "hello beautiful I'm Dacre" she looked at Sarah and smiled at her before wriggling to get down and ran over to Chloe who was sat on the floor surrounded by dolls, "Hey guys I would get up and greet you but you see me and Katie are in the middle of a tea party, isn't that right Katie?" "Yep!" She said before running over to Sadie and Dacre and grabbing their hands, "tea for you" she said dragging them over to the spot on the floor.

"Make yourselves comfortable il be in the kitchen checking lunch" Sarah said as she chuckled to herself heading into the kitchen.

The rest of the afternoon went really well, they all chatted and found out bits about each other but it was around 5pm and everyone else was due in any minute, so Sarah, Dacre and Sadie headed back over the the main apartment and Chloe stayed behind to bath Katie, she was going to join then when they all arrived before her bedtime.

Dacre's POV

It was fun playing with Katie she's such a cute kid, very much like her mom, actually I wonder what she's up to, I headed into the kitchen because she said she was prepping lunch, I walk down the hall and I hear music and singing, quietly poking my head around the corner I see Sarah dancing alone in the kitchen to Bruno Mars that's what I like, I stand there for a while taking in the beauty in front of me, I thought she was beautiful the minute I laid eyes on her but seeing her with Katie and watching her naturally like this is breath taking.

Then she turns around, "oh god" she says and turns back around putting her face in her hands laughing, I walk over to her and hug her "hey! it was pretty good" she hugged me back for a second then looked up at me "join me" and she began dancing again, I took her hand and we danced around the kitchen like crazy people for a few minutes then she leant her back onto my chest laughing, I put my arm around her stomach and kissed her cheek, "your too cute..... you need a hand with lunch" she smiled at me and nodded, I took the knife from the side and began preparing the salad.

——Present time in the main apartment ——

It was now 8pm and everybody had arrived, they were all sat on the couches watching a film, Nat Charlie Millie and Fin were on one, Sadie, Caleb, Joe and Chloe were on the other and Dacre and Sarah were sharing the big chair with Katie on Sarah's knee with Gaten and Noah on the floor at their feet. Sarah looked around the room smiling at how much she loved her life and the people in it, she looked to her side and Dacre was looking at her, "hey" she said quietly, he winked at her then looked down at Katie "oh Sarah...she's asleep" smiling down at her.

Sarah got up from her seat "I'm heading home guys, little miss is asleep" they all looked at her and cood at how cute she was, they all said their goodbyes and Sarah got up and walked over to the door, "Sarah wait" she turned around to see Dacre coming towards her, she smiled at him and waited for him to speak "I wish you could stay longer but can I text you?" Rubbing the back of he's neck, "I know me too, but mom life" she laughed "but yeah sure you can" they hugged and she walked over to her apartment.
