The newsies fandom (on tumblr idk bout other sites) is so chill 95% of the time and then every so often someone will say/do something a bit off and we all have a stupid bitch slap fight for 48 hours and then go back to being normal.

The difference between the rp accounts and people writing fanfics sexualizing minors is you can filter that shit out. AO3, fanfiction.net, hell even Wattpad have ways to get rid of stuff you don't want to see (eg sexual stuff about minors). If you don't like it don't read it.

When you post stuff like this on the main tag there's no way to avoid it. WE WILL SEE IT. Whether we want to or not. I had no idea wtf was going on until I went into the Newsies tag and saw these posts against my will.

I have nothing against rp, I don't get it, I don't understand it but like you do you. UNLESS it is being forced down my throat every single time I click on the Newsies tab

While filming Newsies 1992 David Moscow (92sies David) and Christian Bale (92sies Jack) shared a double trailer, basically a long trailer with a wall in the middle. They could hear "literally everything" through the wall. In an interview David said "I would start singing the 'National Anthem' and he would start singing 'God Save the Queen' and we would try and out-sing each other as loud as we could"

Ryan Breslin (OBC Race) and Garett Hawe (OBC Albert) went to high school together and their irl friendship is what inspired their characters dynamic in the show. So all you Ralbert shippers be thankful because it's all because of these two.

I'm bad at phrasing things so bare with me but I think we need to talk about how some of the actors are treated by the Newsies fandom.

The amount of times I've seen Ryan Breslin completely left out of conversations surrounding Race (the character he originated) or made fun of for not being as attractive as Ben Cook is actually kinda upsetting. I don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about Brendon Stimson (OBC Oscar Delancey, Jack Kelly u/s) or Adam Kaplan (Morris Delancey, Jack Kelly u/s) the same way they talk about Mike Faist (OBC Morris Delancey, Jack Kelly u/s) even though they're both amazing and were actually with the show longer than he was. Neither of them are even listed on the wiki as Jack Kelly understudies. Capathia Jenkins is super talented and she plays Medda really really well. Even if you like the movie version of her character better that's not an excuse to make fun of her portrayal in the broadway show.

This is just my opinion and you don't have to agree with any of it but it's how I feel and I just wanted to put my thoughts out there because I love this show and it's fandom so much.

I was only somewhat aware of the Delancey brothers drama that's happening right now but I just found the two main posts concerning it and jesus christ guys.

I thought we were better than this.

DO NOT let the Newsies fandom descend into being a toxic, negative place the same way so many musical fandoms have in the past.
