Cars ‘n Coffeeshop * This morning #dutchdoubleclutch got to put maintenance miles on his favorite survivor. 2nd shot is of her original leather driver’s map pocket. Whether MBtex or leather, the elastic on this usually gave up 20 years ago. This original item is a testament to this car’s indoor parking and easy life. As no supplier currently produces a carpet set in this manner, the best a high-level restoration shop can do is harvest the old binding and bond it into the replacement carpet. It’s time for #DutchDoubleclutch to declutch, shifting gears away from testing two of our clients’ cars as they pass through the final stage of restoration. As my third cousin Monty Python used to say, “Now for something completely different,” as I put some maintenance miles on a highly original survivor. Being the M.I. test-pilot, #DutchDoubleclutch gets to park his Pacer-Triple (3 paint-jobs, 3 trailer-parks, 3rd owner) and take out a real treat. This afternoon it is our client’s ’71 906 blue Pagoda. An example of the market and the typical buying process, this ‘restored’ example was discovered for just over $100k and brought to us for some ‘corrections’ to put her on par with her pretty cosmetics. This small gadget is crucial for the vintage craft’s operation. Back in the twentieth cent, crafts were liquid powered (like me, #DutchDoubleclutch ). The energy containing liquid was pumped in metered fashion into chemical-reaction chambers where, when compressed along with atmospheric gas and exposed to artificial lightening, a violent reaction ensued causing expansion (the release of that energy), forcing driving members downward, acting upon the arms of a multi-armed spinner which was coupled to a multi-ratio driven-spinner, in turn connected to more spinners, couplers, directional-twist changers and finally to two more spinners coated with congealed tree-sap with a coefficient of friction sufficient to put torque down on a terrestrial surface. Since the mass of the planet on which this torque acted was many times the mass of the craft, instead of the planet moving, the craft moves * The gadget: The energy-liquid meter-pumper must be lubricated as it has ferrous and other metallic element-based components subject to galling and seizure if not bathed in another energy-containing terrestrial fossil-sourced liquid which happens to be very, very slippery. As company scribe, test pilot and IPA taster for the king, I, Dutch Doubleclutch have been conscribed to test drive our client’s 600SWB craft, the goal being to shake ‘er down determining a baseline, pre-restoration. These fine tubes run through every part of the craft, circulating nanites which autonomously repair damage from space-debris or meteoroids. * * * * The ‘flight surgeon’ 250SL is officially for sale! Running well with solid, virginal floorboards, this European spec Pagoda can be driven now while you ride up the next appreciation cycle or a shrewd operator may squirt her back to her original 040 black and take a profit (black is a rare Pagoda color)—easy, you’ll only need to shoot the exterior and jams as the dash is still black (we’d do it but we have a year of customer work in the que!). * She’s up live on our site now (link is in our profile) and check the previous Instagram posts on the car’s originality: #w11304312003154 . He’ll have to be content with our Ford Cortina Mk 1 as his driver until I find a buyer for it who won’t turn it into a fake Lotus. He won’t relish the brutal 1200cc power delivery of the Brit Ford four but hey, she’s all original and there’s not another like it on this planet.
