lightheaded are a 3-piece band from Long Branch, New Jersey. Their cassette release last year on Slumberland. It received a fair amount of attention and rightfully so. It's great indie pop with a 60s flair. Now, the band is set to release a full LP on vinyl no less.
In an interview in 2021, the band described their influences as such:
We love The Pastels, mark that down first. Probably the reason we started the band. They set the template. The Feelies, New Jersey legends. Got to mention them. Stephen used to live in the same town as Stan! Dwight Twilley and Phil Seymour, we love all the sorta one-off power pop bands! Felt are very special to us. Belle and Sebastian. The Clientele’s first couple records... The Go-Betweens never missed... just cut us off now, we’ll take up the whole interview.
I still really feel there is a clear Aislers Set/Tele Novella sound going on here.

Dwight Twilley Dies at 72
- “The loss is immeasurable,” Church Studios says
Dwight Twilley, the power-pop pioneer and soon-to-be-member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, has died.
“With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of Dwight Twilley’s passing,” Church Studios announced Oct. 18.
“Today, he peacefully departed this world, surrounded by the love of his life, Jan, and close friends. The loss is immeasurable and our words can’t capture the depth of our grief. Dwight’s musical prowess touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. We are profoundly thankful for the enduring musical legacy he has bestowed upon us all.”
Twilley was 72; no cause was given.
Best known for the hits “I’m on Fire,” with his eponymous band, and “Girls,” as a solo artist, the Tulsa-based Twilley was recently and unanimously elected to the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, the Tulsa World reported.
“We are absolutely devastated to hear the news of Dwight Twilley’s passing,” the hall said in a statement. “We send our deepest condolences to Jan, his family and close friends.”
Twilley released more than two dozen albums during a recording career that stretched from the 1970s to the 2010s and was a “huge influence on the Records and many other artists,” the Records said in a statement.
“This is heartbreaking,” Bebe Buell said of Twilley’s death. “‘I’m on Fire’ was one of the greatest singles of all time.”

Damn. Dwight Twilley has died.
Unlike his label mate Tom Petty, Twilley never quite escaped the bad start he had at the haphazardly run Shelter Records,
But Dwight could write and sing with the best of them and leaves treasure behind for us to enjoy.
Here’s his first and only hit.

Bandcamp highlighted Reminder Records (Brooklyn, New York) - another reissue label, this one rising from the ashes of Sing Sing.
I've enjoyed nearly every highlight from the article, sounds that recall The Jam, Shoes, and Television Personalities populate the releases.
The Jacks (Tulsa, Oklahama), however, get the post. This is power-pop in the vein of The Who, The Replacements (Tommy Stinson was a session player for crying out loud), Hüsker Dü (Bob Mould was a session player for crying out loud). And somehow, all of that is fit into the fact that band started as as protegees of Dwight Twilley.

Dwight Twilley in performance in the mid-1970s. He made his mark with the Dwight Twilley Band, which earned effusive praise for its first single, “I’m on Fire.” / Mark Sullivan/Getty Images
A singer and songwriter from Tulsa, Okla., he fused Merseybeat melodicism with a chugging rockabilly energy, earning critical praise if not stardom as a progenitor of what came to be called power pop. Heavily influenced by both the Beatles and Elvis Presley, Mr. Twilley made his mark in the mid-1970s with the Dwight Twilley Band
