      It was just supposed to be a hike.

        It wasn't often that Peter had the chance to see much of the outdoors, save for his little platform out at sea, so of course he took the opportunity! On his most recent trip to try and gain recognition, he heard about a nearby mountain. Sure, there were rumors about it being dangerous, but it wasn't like he planned to go too far. There were trees, there were little animals, there was land. He really needed to get some for himself eventually.

     Then, there was the fall. Thankfully, he didn't seem too beat up -- a scrape on his leg, sure, but no worse than he usually got from playing or general clumsiness. No, the real issue was that he couldn't see a way back up. Where did he even fall from? Maybe if he went a bit deeper... At least this place seemed pretty safe. Well, safe for a totally unknown, underground cave-like system with no visible means of escape. But he'd be fine! If anything, this just made his exploration more exciting!

        And off he went, wandering down the cave, not even bothering to question how there was a nice little path in such a place. There was the occasional sound of movement, but it was probably just rats. Caves were full of those, right? Or maybe he was thinking of bats. Or both? He shrugged at his own thoughts, until the noises began to sound more like distant, echoing footsteps. No, surely he was mistaken. Still, just in case --

      "...Hello? Is someone there?"
