We stayed at a campsite near the Wye Valley on the edge of Symonds Yet river. On one of the days we explored a lookout point called Eagle's Nest. We visited Tintern Abbey on the way before following the A466 to a small car park under some trees. We followed a board with a map on all the way to the look out point. Eaglet seems pretty happy that mom came back with sticks for the nest, but just wait till you see the fit it throws when she tries to clean up the nest. I'll share a set of those next. . Anyway, not much but eagle pics to share, still. Went for a hike the day before yesterday and saw turkey chicks or turks? turklets? I didn't get any pictures, though. At first I thought they were sparrows and kept walking toward them figuring they'd fly off. But then as I got close the mom turkey came and freaked out. I left without taking pictures because I didn't want to cause one if the little turkeys to be abandoned. . Oh, and also, I saw a little black bear run across the road but no picture. Also, sometimes me yelled "go home" at me, I guess because I have California plates. Thought that was fitting. . Anyway, I'm in Washington now. Weekly Nest Notes: Signs of Coming Events (March 23)

Harriet and M15 are entering the final phase of incubating their priceless Eggs and hopefully, next week will reveal the results of their dedication. This nesting Season came to an unfortunate abrupt ending, but Harriet and M15 decided that they would persevere by starting anew. They are completely invested in fulfilling their goal of bringing new life into the Eagle world. They have performed in their usual fine-tuned manner as they exchange and share nest duties. Food has begun to trickle into the nest which is one sign of coming Eaglets.

Harriet and M15 withstand the sub-tropical weather providing their charges with the warmth needed and also protection from too much heat.  They are allowing the Eggs some breathing room, stepping up and off of them for longer periods. In the last few days of incubation, Harriet and M15 may appear to be looking at and listening to any possible activity going on in the Eggs as the chick begins to break into the world. The struggle that begins before emergence from the egg gives the hatchling strength needed to survive in the nest and beyond.

Harriet and M15 have proven time and time again their commitment to each other and to their soon to be family. Anticipation and excitement build as hatch time nears. All hope is to witness the coming events with Harriet and M15 rearing another generation of majestic Eagles. Nest Notes by dadsjazz.

High in the pine tree, silhouetted against the sky, you can see an eagle’s nest, and on the edge of the nest you can see a baby eagle. We’ve watched over the past month as the mama and papa eagles have come and gone, bringing food for the baby, one flying away for more, one staying to protect the nest. Now the baby, no longer frizzy feathered, is preparing to fly. But when? Not yet, anyway. While shooting the mountains on 8 July I caught this seagull chasing an eagle that had something in its talons along the bluff. I shot her landing through the tinted glass. I surmised she had posted upon one of the seagull's chicks. The seagull mobbed her until, seemingly, two more of its kind escorted it away.
