Tales of the abyss part 44
We're still sweaty in Daath!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know, I wonder what the opening of a hole the size of a CONTINENT will do the ecostructure, the tides and climates and stuff.
I'm not smart enough to figure that out but I don't think it's good!
Then again, if the planet is hollow, and what we live on is the outer crust, shouldn't all the oceans start like - draining through the continent-big hole? Rush back into the hollow planet? What's stopping that from happening?
... I will try not to overthink that.
Tumblr media
would now be a bad time to mention the whole hollow earth thing?
Tumblr media
Apparently, it is.
(This is like the sixth time in two play sessions when I say something and the game answers right after as if it heard me XD )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In political terms, we got some heavy hitters on our party!
Tumblr media
I don't know is that Luke's old personality coming through, or Jade's bad influence XD
Tumblr media
Are we gonna jumpscare Ion? Sorry if so!
Tumblr media
Dist?!
Oh right the God-generals used to work for the order - but i thought that's in the past?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Double spittake. So Mohs is so desperate to follow the Score he would use Dist to restart the war -
And there is still replica data of Nebilim
And Dist is so desperate to revive her he would even go off-path of his orders just to get the data?
Man must have been as in love / obsessed with her as he is with Jade.
Tumblr media
stay away from Ion.
Can't he just say no? HE is the Fon Master, after all
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yup
Tumblr media
Still saying it's replicating the world!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Agreed. So I think it's the replication part we should focus on
But first, let's go grab our wayward Fon Master.. again

Decentralization Could Revitalize Social Media Amid Bot Invasion
Decentralization Could Revitalize Social Media Amid Bot Invasion 💻🤖
"If it's not decentralized, is it even social media?"
Ah, the wonders of social media—where “influencers” can’t influence without a few billion bots on their side. 😏 But just when you think the bots are running the place, here comes the hero we didn’t know we needed: Decentralization! That’s right, folks, it’s time to take back the feeds from our robotic overlords and regain user trust, engagement, and maybe even our sanity.
What to Know:
Social media dominance threatened by bots; decentralization gains relevance.
Decentralization may reduce bot influence on platforms.
Potential change in user engagement dynamics likely.
Tumblr media
Social Media Platforms and Decentralization
Traditionally, social platforms have struggled under the weight of bots, leading to a crisis of confidence and engagement. But decentralization can save the day like a digital superhero, restoring integrity in social interactions. Imagine a social media world where you control your data instead of a sneaky bot farm! Jack Dorsey of Bluesky put it perfectly: “Decentralization is not just a technology solution; it’s a path to restore trust and integrity in social interactions.” Source
Experts are boldly shouting about how decentralization could combat trust issues exacerbated by bots—yes, the same bots that made social media as trustworthy as a fortune teller in a carnival. Vitalik Buterin, the crypto wizard himself, emphasized that blockchain can craft scalable identity solutions that support decentralized social media. Talk about leveling up! Plus, this is not just about user engagement; it also raises questions about how we regulate and oversee a more decentralized digital ecostructure.
Previous attempts at conquering bots through centralized approaches were like using a bucket to fix a dam. But with decentralization emerging, we’re talking actual, lasting solutions here! Experts are already anticipating glorious outcomes as platforms start integrating decentralized models, although, let’s be real, not without a few bumps on the road. Institutions like Columbia SIPA are gearing up to support these transitions. Grabbing those digital reins might just lead us to a brighter social media future!
Dive into the full article on Bitcoin Info News and join the movement for a better digital world!

That gets a little snort of amusement from him. Him? Suggesting a means of improving the economy, infrastructure, ecostructure, way of society? Pfft! He's a MTO. That was way above his ranking, even six shots in. And he was, maybe, sitting on his second drink.
Tumblr media
"Me? Nah, mate. Nothing aside an aquarium. I was forged after the war really took off, so apparently most of Cybertron's fauna and flora have kicked the bucket. Meanwhile, plenty of neighboring planets have energon compatible critters to toss in a tank. Couple will come right up to ya for some"
The neon-sheen that danced colors over the surface of his energex burned a hole into his vision, its poison working over his nerves that he missed the initial approach of another Seeker — their presence not hostile, so his systems did not alert him.
Posturing himself upright, he puts on his mask and his charisma ( same ol' smile that did quite reach the optics, but at least his chassis was forward and proud ), regarding his new table fellow here.
" Yeah, well, I think people have countless opinions on how to do many things. It's been such a hot button topic since, " gesticulates into the open air," since, well, the time before this. So, forever. "
Tumblr media
" Let me guess... You have a few choice requests of your own? " he takes another sip, lapping the sweetness from his taste.

For the Rights of the Soil not to be Exhausted: Ecocentric Practices for Land Restoration
Tumblr media
Co-Directors of the Postsocialist Art Centre (PACT) Maja and Reuben Fowkes will be presenting ‘For the Rights of the Soil not to be Exhausted: Ecocentric Practices for Land Restoration’ on April 12th as part of the ‘Matter Matters: The Aesthetics and Politics of Soil’ panel at the 49th Annual Association for Art History Conference, taking place at University College London.
About the Presentation:
As climate breakdown tests the ecological limits of heavy agriculture, how have artists exposed the entwined colonial and environmental histories of land and proposed ecocentric practices based on more-than-human comradeship and care? These questions are addressed through Anetta Mona Chişa’s One Are (2021), which translated the Roman unit of territory into a 100m2 inverted cast of a ploughed field to reveal the materiality of the soil in its earthy imprint of tilling, cracking and erosion. Also considered is Cooking Sections’ For the Rights of the Soil not to be Exhausted (2019), which engaged with the histories of chernozem from the Ukrainian steppe, from the terror of Soviet grain requisitioning to the impact of shifting climatic zones. The artist duo also collaborated with lawyers to legally enshrine the defence of the soil against capitalist extractivism, encapsulating the planetary tipping point in attitudes towards what anthropologist Kristina Lyons calls the “complex self-organising system” underground.

Haru had a rather meticulous side to her when it came to wanting to keep things separate, and she had to keep business separate from the mafia world. Having a place to feel safe from prying ears was important to her as it was also a sign of trust between her and her ‘customers’ who came to her café. They trusted her with a safe place to talk, and she trusted them with providing information every now and then. She also asked that they ‘behave’ while in Namimori. She’d be quite cross with you if you were to cause havoc in her town, after all.
It wasn’t hard to get the resources she needed if she went through the Vongola channels, and Reborn thought well of her idea of providing a safe space for people outside of the Vongola to discuss among themselves. After every meeting, someone would routinely go in to check for any bugs or wires to ensure that no one had left behind something that they can then listen into future conversations. Integrity was important.
Guillaume observed Amvin and had a gentle smile on his face. “Thank you, it is but a humble man’s work.” He listened to Amvin’s introduction and nodded his head. “You see, there are all sorts of characters out there, those who only seek to help the weak and innocent, those who are in it for the personal gain, and those who are in the middle. In this ecostructure of intel, there is a need for everyone. Without those who are willing to get down and dirty, some information can never surface.” Which was more succinctly summarized as, every kind of informant was important to the grand scheme of information sharing.
Even if he did not personally agree with some of their methods, he wouldn’t disagree with them being an important part of the cogwheel. “At the end of the day,” he takes a sip from his cup, “it’s on your own conscience what comes of your information, and you’ll answer to that on the day you draw your last breath. Will guilt consume you in your final moments, or not?” It may not seem like much now, but many have succumbed to their loneliness in their final moments. “Simply put, I speak with those with lesser noble causes as well. I just don’t sell them information that can be used to harm the innocents, it’s as simple as that.” So even if Amvin hadn’t the noblest of causes, it mattered little to him.
If he was deemed a decent character by Haru, that was enough for him. He trusted in her judgement enough to know that she wouldn’t cooperate with a piece of trash who had no redeemable traits to them. “Now then, I’ve some information on the local gangs operating in France, if that is your cup of tea for today. I’ve over information prepared in the case it isn’t.” He motions to his large briefcase that was no doubt full of his files of collected information.
Amvin followed Haru, taking mental note of where they were and the path they’d come from. Xe raised an eyebrow at just how secure the meeting room was. There was no way to ‘accidentally’ find yourself in the vicinity. A smile crossed xir lips, whatever was said in here was guaranteed to stay in here.
Nodding along to Haru’s explanation, Amvin’s made a quick scan of the room. It was roomy, and though small, was comfortable to be in. A slightly bitter scent wafted through the room, its source being the blonde haired, blue-eyed man Amvin was here to meet.
Giving Guillaume a firm handshake, Amvin put on xir friendliest smile. Guillaume wasn’t what Amvin was expecting, though xe didn’t let that show. “The pleasure is all mine,” Amvin said as xe sat, “I’m sure you’ve had some trouble moving around freely.”
Guillaume was clearly foreign and in a country like Japan… that made you a very obvious sight. Not only would civilians be wary but it was much easier to track a person who so clearly stood out.
“That’s quite a career, Guillaume,” Amvin responded impressed, “I haven’t been in the game as long as you have, but it’s been a couple good years so far.”  Leaning forward, xe smiled, “Mostly deal with the rumor mill, figuring out who’s got what on who and which are true then sell to the highest bidder.”
“Not all the time, though,” xe added. Guillaume was a man of virtue, it’d do Amvin no good to look greedy here, “somethings are better kept in the dark. When things would rope up civilians into petty personal drama, I keep those secrets to myself.”
Sure, not the noblest cause, but it was worth something, right? Eyeing Guillaume, Amvin wondered how he’d react. Hopefully, they was a good enough cause for Guillaume.

It's amazing seeing the actual breakdown of what's happening to plants thanks to industrialized farming and how it's literally unsustainable get the empty response of "no it's fine it's just capitalism".
If we erased money tomorrow, states, all of it, the technology we use for farming is still going to be used on a quickly degrading ecostructure. Like hey you know how they're burning the Amazon... For farm land? It's cause the old farm land is nutritionaly depleted and growing clover on it won't fix that. I know it's tempting to look at the system as it is now and say "ah but we farm enough now, the issues just distribution" but we're not talking about how to make sure folks can get their hands on what exists now, were pleading with y'all to see that this system as it's set up is on the verge of collapse. Nothing about that changes based on who owns it.

It’s a big lonely planet. At least it was called at times back in history. Yes, you have heard it right. Despite it’s fantastic ecostructure as well as place for different nomadic cultures, Central Asia is not explored at all. All these amazing typology of mountains, rich for ecological diversity, different cultural types, bazaars and etc.

Preparing for the Opening
The one thing you need is good weather leading up to a garden opening as even though you might think the garden is in pretty good shape, when you really analyse it as you go round, the list suddenly gets incredibly long!!  Must remember to cut the dead bits out of that, must remember to water and feed something else, actually think I might just move that to a spot about 12″ further down for a better effect and so on.  Luckily despite the desperate need for rain, we did have a little on Sunday which perked everything up, and since then the weather has been perfect for these minor adjustments.  The forecast for the weekend is mixed - it will be cool - good so things dont wilt in unexpected heat, a little rain on Saturday but hopefully not so much as to make mowing and edging a nightmare, but there is a chance of a rather feisty wind on Saturday afternoon which just might spoil the absolutely perfect apple blossom.  Fingers crossed it doesnt materialise.
At last all the clients follow up plants have been delivered to their new homes and I have time to focus on here.  All the sweet peas are now planted out and watered.  The new Agapanthus have been put into the two pots by the topiary owls - these replace an unmatched pair - the right hand one having dwindled to nothing last year.  So the stronger original has been split up - see photos - with much huffing and puffing, and spread between 4 pots at the front of the house. The new ones are called Black Panther - very dark blue - and highly suitable for a house of black labs.
I have risked planting out 3 dahlia Twynings After Eight which are only just poking through, but have marked in the borders where the dahlias will be going.  They look so good in the cold frames and as the night temperatures on Friday are due to drop to 3C it seems silly to risk putting them out just for the opening. I will wait until mid May and then they should be OK.  Equally I am saving the Cosmos and Night Scented Stocks until then, but the snapdragons should be OK now.  We have a good array of things in the greenhouse making it look busy and productive and tomorrow or Friday I shall set up the tomatoes we are keeping - the rest can be sold on the plant stall.
Asparagus is coming on well, and veg are growing and showing - the spinach and chard is OK and the first carrots have now germinated.  Sowed another row this week plus the Beetroot Chioggia with the pink stripes.  More mustard mix is in and a row of Catalogna lettuce which always does well.  The Lakeland lettuces will be ready to plant out in a week or so.  Broad beans have their lower strings in place.
We seem to have fended off the roe deer for the moment but I must remember to take down all the CDs and weird things before Sunday!  However the mole has popped up again this afternoon.
Yesterday I went all the way to Woodbridge in Suffolk to see a nursery called Botanica as a possible alternative for buying shrubs and trees as my lovely supplier of 23 years is closing down this summer.  The land is being developed for housing - another habitat loss and very sad for all their customers - they have been totally reliable. Was sad to see that glyphosate is still being used in such large quantities - round nearly every margin of every wheat field there is a yellow stripe of dying wheat - to keep back any “weed” that dare move from margin to crop.  Was also horrified by how much the council use around the bases of roadsigns and verge markers - surely they dont think the weeds are going to grow so enormous as to obliterate a road sign?  What a waste of money and time plus such a lot of damage to ecostructures.
The swallows are well established - in and out of the garage all day and it is a joy to listening to their chatter.  We feel the dawn chorus is not so good this year and are wondering why - certainly we are missing pairs of song thrushes this year around the common - perhaps last summers drought meant fewer young due to less slugs and snails in damp places.  We also have the jays of course which could mean everyone lies low so as not to give their nest sites away.  We do have several black caps which is great but the level of warbler song in general is definitely down .....
Wisterias are spectacular - we have two, one I would imagine is good old Prolific, the other the amazing macrobotrys, with racemes about two foot long cascading down over the house windows.  They in tandem with darling Maigold rose will be a sight for Sunday and it is lovely to have the garden open at this slightly different time.
Dogs are fine - Scout is feeling her age a little now, and though she longs to do every walk with her beloved Miss Horta who is currently home, we are having to say no occasionally as her feet are a bit sore nowadays - I know the feeling!  Mavis and Inca however are loving the long outings in the evenings and they sit quietly with whoever is taking them to watch the foxes and deer down in the little valley.  We cannot work out where the earth is, but the hunting is being carried out quite fearlessly in broad daylight - the dog fox is stunning, deep deep chestnut brown.
Current jobs to do - veg time in abundance, soon time to plant out climbing beans but be patient with the weather being unpredictable.  Watch out for capsid bug on all sage plants and salvias - they leave horrid little shot holes and cause distorting of flower shoots - can be eradicated with soft soap rather than insecticide.  Same applies to aphids on honeysuckle. Also pick off lily beetles and squash - great sport.  Water newly transplanted sweet peas to really get them going and give twigs or string for support down low till they really get going.  Be careful not to cut grass too low in this dry weather - East Anglia - Spray roses with soft soap if aphids about, other wise try and leave them. Keep hydrangeas well watered so they really kick off well later on. Remember that when you cut box towards the month end its not a bad idea to feed it.  This helps to prevent blight getting in and keep an eye open for Box moth - if caught early it can be eradicated.  Final thought, dont try and tidy up everything - remember to leave odd areas of unstrimmed grass, cow parsley, dead nettles etc - they are vital for the ecosystems.

What makes policy so complicated in the complexity frame is that the specific goals of policy are not given; they develop endogenously from the bottom up, and cannot be fully specified a priori. The specific goals of policy cannot be known for sure by anyone, including government. Individuals can know their goals for society, but society’s goals are the blending of all individual’s goals. The specific social goals of a society emerge as the system evolves. In the complexity frame, an important goal of government is to create an environment within which people reflect on their goals for society, so that people’s true social goals can emerge, not to try to impose any specific goals upon people.
In our shared space traffic example, the emergent goals are straightforward, namely getting across the intersection speedily and safely. In most social situations, it is less clear and policy makers end up being tempted to make highly simplified assumptions about what drives people and what their goals are. In a bottom-up policy, the social goal emerges from the process. People are free to choose both their individual and collective goals, and are also free to choose how to achieve those goals.
Once you realize these goals involve coordination around a common good and collective action, policy gets more problematic. As an example, take the abundance of food in the world and our apparent inability to feed everyone, either through the market or by government control. Leaving common goods problems to “society”, where society involves a variety of polycentric groups that are alternatives to the market or to the government, may be one option, and in our view an attractive one. But this can only be tried if one has an environment within which polycentric groups are encouraged. Currently such effective collective groups with social goals are far less numerous than they would be in a bottom-up friendly system; the ecosystem we have evolved has not been friendly to them. Thus, supporting complexity solutions may involve supporting an ecostructure policy designed to encourage the development of these alternative polycentric groups.
Complexity policy involves encouraging the development of an institutional environment that is friendly to bottom-up policy solutions so that they can evolve and develop. It opposes traditional top-down control policy for the same reason that market fundamentalists do—because government is not very good at solving social problems, and top-down government imposed solutions tend to undermine the development of bottom-up solutions, which can take time to develop. Instead complexity policy supports a policy that treats government and private enterprise as partners from which new blended institutional forms may evolve.
