“Do I look alright?” You asked as you looked at the mirror, before doing a small spin, turning to face Spock who stood behind you.
“If by, ‘you-look-like-a-Jim-under-the-influence-of-alcohol’ alright, then yes.”
His comment felt like a slap to the face, as you’d never received something like it before. The smile on your face, had also been slapped off. The clopping sound of your boots were the only sound present as you walked up to him with a frown and simply stared into his eyes. Your neck had to bend backwards the closer you got to him. You couldn’t tell whether the comment was a joke or not, as he held no emotion. Turning away from him with a huff, you decided it wasn’t a joke.
You wandered up to the door, but before you got out, a feeling rose inside of you. Freezing in place for a moment, Spock just watched as you turned to walk back up to him, snatching your PADD from his hands, before heading toward the door.  Spock’s head tilted with slight confusion as to what aggravated you. His eyebrow barely lifted with the emotion, and his hands made their way to grip each other at his lower back.
“Hand me your PADD, Lieutenant.”
The young man who sat on the bio bed, whimpered slightly as he passed you his said object. You were definitely not in a good mood and it was frightening your patients during their physicals.
Even the CMO seemed to notice this as all the patients that would walk out your medical room held strangely frightened faces.
You didn’t even give a nod as you grabbed the PADD from the man, reading over a few things.
“When was the last time you came?” You asked, more to the PADD then the Lieutenant himself.
“Uh-uh, I came th-the... umm...” The poor man seemed to stumble upon his words, as your eyes seemed to glimmer with a sort of rage. Slowly, your E/C orbs shifted, eyeing the patient without realising how it was affecting him. “I came... I-”
“Nurse L/N.”
Both yours and the Lieutenant’s head jerked toward the voice, seeing Dr McCoy standing by the entrance of the room with his arms crossed over his chest. The glare you were giving him, did not faze him one bit.
“If I may, I’d like to speak with you alone.”
You sighed heavily with a nod. After placing the man’s PADD onto the bio bed next to him, you walked over to Bones. “Don’t fret Lieutenant, someone will be with you in moment.”
The man nodded, before bringing his shaky hands into his lap.
As you kept walking out, you headed toward Bones’ office, but he stopped you midway with a hand on your shoulder. You sighed again as you felt the CMO lightly push your shoulder, so you’d face him. When your eyes met his, you frowned.
A light chuckle escape his lips, “Someone’s Judy Moody.”
Your eyes narrowed up at Bones and you placed your hands onto your hips, “Who’s Judy Moody?”
“N/N, somethin’s winding you up and you’re scaring your patients.”
You frowned with a scoff and shook your head, “I am not scaring my patients, thanks very much.”
“Dammit N/N,” Bones gritted his teeth as you weren’t cooperating as well as you usually always do. He leaned down slightly to your level, “I’m not stupid-”
“I didn’t say you were-”
“Y/N,” He interrupted you, who interrupted him. Your E/C eyes darted downward with an apologetic look, “I know something’s been bothering you all day, darlin’. I want to know what it is.”
Yet another sigh came out your mouth and your hands flopped back down to your thighs, “It’s just Spock.
Bones’ eyebrow cocked, “I shoulda known,” The CMO stood back up straight and his arms remained crossed over his chest. “What did the hob-goblin do now?”
Your shoulders shrugged and your arms flailed around with exaggeration, as you explained what had happened in the morning, before coming to work. Bones didn’t interrupt you, not even once. He just listened, with the occasional eye roll and/or a nod.
You’d been with Spock for a while now, and every so often the tiniest of actions from the Vulcan would provoke you. Though you were so breathtakingly beautiful and extremely intelligent, Spock realised that you seemed to take things way too literally. It was your only flaw.
“N/N. Darlin’, it ain’t Spock winding you up. It’s yourself,” The CMO attempted to brake it to you as gently as possible, as to not aggravate you further. However, to no avail, you were still upset.
“How is it me?!” You yelled with disbelief. You yelled at him, as if he were falsely accusing you of a crime. Even your hands tapped against your chest as you spoke, motioning toward yourself, “It’s definitely not me. This has happened before, so it can’t be me!”
“N/N, calm it down now,” Bones grabbed your wrists, keeping you from squirming.
You tried to wriggle out of his grip, but he was way too strong. To add to that, his eyes held complete sincerity, so you just had stopped struggling.
“I’m just going to tell you honestly and you need to hold in your anger till the end, alright?” You stared at each other, before you finally nodded and Bones let go of your wrists. A small breath escaped his lips before he continued, “Though I don’t really like to admit it, it ain’t Spock at fault. Even though he’s so damn neutral-faced, I can tell he loves you. He’d never want to hurt you; whether it’d be physically or emotionally or mentally or whatever! The point is, N/N, you just take things too literally.”
“Too literally?”
“Yeah, you understand?” Bones’ dark eyebrows raised with hope, as you slowly but finally nodded your head in understanding. The CMO smiled a little and  wandered to his desk, before coming back with his PADD in hand. His fingers swiped across the screen, as he spoke, “Let’s call it a day for you, alright?”
You returned a smile and gave Bones a small nod, “I can’t thank you enough, Bones.”
“Although, I’m still pretty mad about you handlin’ your patients. They were wettin’ themselves,” His grumpy demeanour quickly shifted back into his voice and you giggled.
An idea popped into your head and you jumped with excitement. You gave your CMO a quick wave before sprinting toward the exit, “Bye Bones!” He watched with wide eyes at how fast your own mood had changed, that now you were back to your cheerful self.
You ran as fast as your black-boot covered legs could go. Dodging a couple of others around the halls, you finally made your way to a turbolift, pressing a button. You stood back and waited, tapping your hand against your thigh with impatience.  As soon as the doors flew open, you stepped out a little whilst flattening down your dress, trying to look as professional as possible.
“Permission to come aboard the bridge, Captain.”
You looked at the chair, seeing Captain Kirk’s head pop up from it. He seemed surprised to see you, “Nurse L/N! Permission granted.”
“Thank you, Captain.” You said to him with a nod, before turning your attention to your Vulcan boyfriend, who was already standing by his post, looking at you. His hands weren’t behind his back.  The Captain watched as you jogged up to Spock and gently took his face into your hands. You leaned his down toward yourself, as you got up to your tip-toes to reach him. Your eyes closed as soon as your lips met with Spock’s, however his stayed open for a moment before closing with pleasure.
Captain Kirk shared looks with the others aboard the bridge, before clearing his throat quite loudly, causing you to pull away from Spock with a pant.  With the absence of your lips on his own, Spock opened his eyes and looked down at your form. You sensed confusion.
“I just wanted to say sorry. For this morning, and every other time I walked away from you,” You dropped your hands from his face, embarrassed about yourself.
“Y/N. I wasn’t aware how much trouble I had caused you. I, too, apologise.”
Your eyes shot open widely and you swiftly grabbed his hands into your own, “No, no, Spock don’t apologise. I was out of line, I took your comment too literally... y-you were joking right?” You brought your entwined hands up to your chest.
“In all honesty, Y/N, I was planning to tell you that you looked as beautiful the day I fell in love with you,” You smiled up at him, causing the slightest bit of green dust across the Vulcan’s cheeks. “But. I had a notion that perhaps that that comment would be... lacking variation.”
“You thought it’d be boring for me?” You asked with a laugh, squeezing his warm, soft hands for a better effect. “I couldn’t have asked for a better compliment.”
“Now that you understand my intention about this morning; may I tell you one more time than you look-”
“Say no more,” With a shake of your head, you cut him off and tilted your head up, kissing the corner of his lips. You swore you could’ve seen a small smile adorn his face, so you returned the gesture.
“Would you two lovebirds like to continue this somewhere else or do I have to see my favourite nurse and my first officer suck face?” You and Spock both turned to the Captain with similar neutral expressions.
With a swift movement, you took Spock’s hand and held your stance, “Like you can talk, Captain.”
Kirk guffawed, as he watched you pull your boyfriend with you into the turbolift. Spock looked satisfied with your remark and didn’t mind you pulling him along one bit. The Captain took one last glimpse of you and Spock in the small room, before the doors closed. Hungry kisses were being shared, so the Captain turned back to the front of the ship, as others turned back to their original jobs, and he pinched the bridge of his nose, “I think the turbolift needs a new name. Things that shouldn’t have been done in there... have been done in there.”
