Ive posted about this a hundred times and I'll post about it again

the fact that edmund knew that if he were to hold a letter, gloucester would demand to read it-- the fact that edmund knew that no matter how reasonable of an explanation he could give, gloucester would assume the worst--

#always out here absolutely losing my mind over this #edmund knew. with 100% certainty. without a shadow of a doubt.#he was able to say 'this is the type of person my father is. this is what he's like. this is how he behaves'#obligatory 'he didn't profile edgar correctly though'#in edmund's defense the gloucester brothers probably didn't interact much #although I love and adore every interpretation of their pre-play relationship #because edgar isn't stupid #edgar wouldn't believe edmund if edmund hadn't been relatively believable/trustworthy(?) up until now #edgar 'some villain has done me wrong' of gloucester is well aware that people plot and scheme #and he himself is as much of a schemer (read: theater kid) as edmund #aaaaahhhhh soooo many thoughtsssss #king lear #edmund of gloucester #gloucester king lear #shakespeare
