So I guess I’m on a Germany roll... this is a moment I captured in Cologne. It is fairly simple, and not an obvious choice. • • I don’t have a pattern for choosing the pictures I draw. I just go through them until one pulls me in. And something about this one just screamed to me. • • Instagram is filled with an overflow of picture perfect moments, of views that look too unreal. As part of my studies I had an option to take a few art classes, even though it wasn’t my major. So I jumped on the opportunity and took some, more for my soul and fun than anything else. During one specific course, we learned about many different styles, methods and materials. It was an amazing and cultivating course. But out of all the styles, materials and artists we’ve learned, no one captivated me quite like Edward Gorey. If you’ve seen the previous drawings I’ve uploaded, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. I’ve fallen in love with his style and tried to make it my own with my interpretation. It’s not the most complex or unique method I’ve learned, but that also may be exactly why I love it so much. Hoi-An, Vietnam. One of hardest aspects of my Southeast Asia trip, was the laid back mentality of not doing much, if anything at all... people would sit around all day, drinking shakes and smoking. Which is great, but not for me. I have ants in my pants, I need to be moving around, seeing and doing. Which is why I enjoyed Hoi-An so much. Not only because it’s a beautiful and colourful city, but also because there is so much to do and see. I took a cooking class, a crafts class, we took a boat along the river. And my favorite, I got some dresses sewn especially at one of the local sewing shops. I could walk around the streets and alleys all day and not get tired or bored, because there is just so much to see and discover. I was constantly getting surprised and unraveling more sights to see. • • Have you been to Hoi-An? What was your favorite thing about it?
