This afternoon, House lawmakers introduced HR8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 in her honor. If passed, this legislation would expand background checks to nearly all firearm purchases and close loopholes in the background check system. Research shows that 97% of Americans support universal background checks. This bill is long overdue and an important step toward saving lives.
