I bought Project Highrise back in 2016 and have played it for 54 hours. This number seems oddly low as I thought I’d sunk in much more time than that. I also bought all of the game’s DLCs. So when I saw the announcement for Mad Tower Tycoon, I was a bit skeptical. A second tower-building game? At first glance, these games were identical only with different graphics. However, I love simulation games and I love this theme, so I kept looking at the game’s Steam page again and again. The main question I had on my mind was: How is it different from Project Highrise? Is it worth buying Mad Tower Tycoon when I already own Project Highrise? Do we even need two games like this? Why should I spend money on another game like this if it’s exactly the same? Except for the graphics, of course.
There has also been an interview (written in German as well as English) with a developer from EggCode Games and he was also asked how his game Mad Tower Tycoon differs from Project Highrise. It seems to be something a lot of people ask (also visible when you take a look at the Steam community forums).
This post isn’t about bashing Mad Tower Tycoon, though, or its developer for being boring and copying Project Highrise. I did actually end up buying Mad Tower Tycoon when it was on sale last month. Also, for everything I write about, please keep in mind that Mad Tower Tycoon is still in Early Access and subject to change while Project Highrise has been out for a few years and I may be mentioning some features or content that’s not in the base game but requires the DLC. Also, from here on, Mad Tower Tycoon will be MTT and Project Highrise will be PH, so I don’t have to type their full names over and over again.
youtube
Let’s start with a look at the prices and the developers behind these two games. MTT costs 14.99 €. The Steam Early Access page says they currently have no plans of increasing the price after release. The game has already been on sale previously (and it is currently on sale on Fanatical until the end of Monday, German time… sorry, I’m bad with time zones). Release was scheduled for Q1/Q2 2019. This date has already passed, obviously. But from my personal experience, the game is fully playable, so I didn’t even think of checking when the full release will be until I started writing this blog post. The developers are EggCode Games and you may know them from their previous game Mad Games Tycoon. They’re actually based in Germany which I didn’t know until I looked at their website now. I have no idea how many developers there are, but they’re definitely an indie company. It may be that the company consists of only one person as the interview above has him talk about himself only when mentioning the development of the game.
youtube
The base game of PH costs 19.99 € (it is also currently on sale on Fanatical! A coincidence, by the way. I didn’t know that they were when I wrote this). It also has one small expansion (Las Vegas, priced at 6.99 €) and four DLCs: Miami Malls, Tokyo Towers, London Life and Brilliant Berlin (price ranging between 1.59 € and 1.99 €). The developers are SomaSim. They are also indie developers and made 1849, a city management game, before they released PH. They’re based in Chicago, USA. Not that the country matters, but as I mentioned it above, I thought I should mention it for them as well.
The graphics are, as always, highly subjective. I like them in both games. And in both games, I am not a big fan of how the people look. In PH I find them too stiff and lifeless. In MTT they are too cute. If I had to choose one game over the other simply because of the graphics, I’d choose MTT. I can’t say anything about the soundtracks in both games, because I always turn off the music. But I’ve never heard somebody say that they bought one game and not the other because it had a better soundtrack. So, I’d say while the first can be a deciding factor, it’s something you can decide by looking at videos and screenshots and the other isn’t that relevant.
I haven’t experienced any bugs or crashes in either of these games. Both seem to be very stable, at least on my PC.
One of the main differences that you will encounter first is that PH has more micro management in general. I’ve seen people call MTT more “arcady” and I guess they’re right. In PH, you put wiring and plumbing closets on each floor. Then you place pipes and lines on each floor where they’re needed. Both games require you to place rooms that produce enough electricity, water, etc. But MTT leaves it at that and connects everything automatically. In PH, if you run out of money before finishing the electrical lines, your tenants are without electricity (if you were silly enough to request the tenant before finishing that part). Also, your tenants have specific needs. You may rent your office to insurance companies which only require electricity and copy services, or you choose an accounting company which also wants courier services. Later on, other tenants that offer a higher rent will also require more facilities and services in your building. On top of that, you will also unlock bigger offices later. And just when I was typing this paragraph, while starting a new tower in PH, an earthquake happened in-game and all tenants were without electricity. That’s within the first five minutes into the game.

Another big difference is the transport system. In PH, you build elevators and the people stand in front of one, disappear and reappear on their chosen floor – a bit like a teleporter system. In MTT, they also stand in front of one, wait for it to travel back to their floor, get in and then you can see the elevator move to their chosen floor. In other words: If there are people waiting on different floors, it doesn’t matter in PH while it does matter in MTT. An elevator that is full won’t transport more people and they need to wait for it to move to their floor. You build the elevators (and the stairs) in front of rooms, though, so you can add more when you need to. On the other hand, they cause noise and not everybody is happy having an elevator or stairs in front of their room. Careful planning is still necessary here!

When it comes to building, in PH you build a floor and stairs or elevators, then add what kind of rooms you want on that floor (and add the lines for electricity etc. as already mentioned). Once it is built, you click on the room and choose a tenant. Rent varies depending on what tenant you choose, but they all have different needs and expectations that need to be met. In MTT, you directly build what you want there, e.g., an office, without having to first add the floor itself. The construction workers still need stairs or elevators to get to the construction site, of course. Once it’s built, some tenant will automatically move in there. You have no control over which tenant. A small office is simply a small office.
What I don’t like in PH is the interface. Not everything is bad here, but I frequently get lost trying to find some item I want to build or trying to remember what I need to do in order to unlock something for my tower. I wish they would condense the options somehow – although it may be less of an issue if I played the game more regularly. You also need to open the utilities report in order to see how much of the available electricity etc. you’re using. In MTT it’s part of the upper tool bar. You also get more horizontal building space in MTT which I like.
PH lets you freely build a tower or play scenarios/missions. The interview I linked to above has the developer of MTT mention missions for his game as a feature he’s planning to implement. So, as it is now, if you want to play missions with certain goals you need to reach, PH is the game for you! PH also had mod support. I always forget about that, because I’m not using any mods here. It seems that MTT won’t get mod support.
What you currently get for your money: A very complete game with PH, but the base game is a bit more expensive and some features only come with the paid DLCs. MTT, on the other hand, is cheaper, but it’s also in Early Access, so it’s future is unknown. It also doesn’t have mod support and we don’t know if we’ll get DLC and thus, if it gets as much content as PH currently has.
So, these are the main differences in my opinion. PH has more micro management in general (I left out some features like booking singers for a concert etc. in your tower as it’s part of DLC) than MTT. MTT is more realistic when it comes to elevators and stairs, so their micro management is in getting your visitors and occupants to easily navigate around in your tower.
If I could choose only one game and wasn’t allowed to play the other ever again, I would probably choose Mad Tower Tycoon (but only then and it’d be a difficult decision). Not because Project Highrise is a bad game or even worse than Mad Tower Tycoon, but because I slightly prefer the graphics and so far, prefer the focus on the transport system instead of having to take care of the wiring for my tenants. Project Highrise is the older game, though, and has more content which may lead to a better long-term investment when looking at entertainment gained per Euro spent. I also quite like that you can choose tenants and their specific needs.
I hope this helps anybody who may ask themselves the same question: Should I buy Mad Tower Tycoon or Project Highrise (or both)? Also, feel free to ask any questions about the games. Maybe I can answer them. 🙂
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with any of the games mentioned here nor with Steam, Fanatical or any other game stores. I bought all games with my own money and am not getting paid to write about the games. My opinion is my own (and if I ever start disliking these games, you’ll be the first to hear it)!

Tavern tycoon review common sense media

Tavern tycoon review common sense media upgrade#
The titles mobile roots show clearly here though, with big buttons clearly designed for a finger press obscuring most of the screen. From arranging development of titles, to creating a safe, comforting work environment for the team and more there’s a lot to keep track of. There’s a lot to unpack before you even start then, but once you get into the game the amount of options laid out in front of you becomes almost overwhelming. Speciality’s can be chosen to give your team a focus, and game states can be enabled to help you on the way, such as extra options or a bigger starting studio. There are a plethora of options available, from focusing on old school titles to more modern online enabled ones and even your own hardware. You get to chooser a name, a logo (each rather recognisable imitators of well known companies) and a set up. Mad Games Tycoon places you as the ethereal overlord of a brand new studio of your design. Unfortunately, it seems the only thing more meta than playing a game about making games is when said game itself is bad. Play it here 3.What could be more meta than playing a game about making games? It’s obvious by just scrolling through your average Twitter feed that there are a lot of people out there who think they can do a better job than the professionals, so Eggcode are here to help you prove it. You will eventually be able to cook them all as you expand your business which is a particularly fun part of the game. Classics like American, Japanese, and Chinese are joined with more interesting options like South American, African, and Australian, among many, many others. These staff members even level up as they work, getting better at their jobs.Īnother impressive part of this game are the cuisines you can choose from. It won’t take long before it’s impossible for you to handle the restaurant alone which isn’t much of a problem as you can hire staff to take over those roles. Each dish has its own combination to understand, something which you’ll be rewarded for doing as serving customers quickly gets you more money. As a chef, you play a minigame, hitting keys in the right order as you prepare and cook the food your restaurant will serve. When waiting, you can guide customers to their seats, bring them their food and, most importantly, take their money when they leave. One of the more impressive parts of the game is the player's ability to take part in both cooking and waiting on tables. This game starts you out in a small restaurant that you develop as the game goes on which is pretty standard as tycoon games go but doesn’t fully encapsulate what makes this game incredibly fun. Imagine if Cooking Mama and Diner Dash had a blocky baby. There’s so much to this game that it has its own Wiki and has had 623 million visits. Each ride can be managed through a menu that lets you alter the price of each ride and more. There are some simple ones like the teacups and the carousel right up to gargantuan roller coasters. When it comes to the most important parts of the theme park, there are plenty of rides to fill your theme park with. While this system must have been incredibly difficult to develop, it pays off when your theme park looks completely different to your neighbours. Rides, paths, decorations and shops can be placed onto the map with an interface similar to Frontier’s Roller Coaster Tycoon. The game is really a Roblox-ified Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Tavern tycoon review common sense media upgrade#
Instead of following a linear upgrade path to slowly crawl up and instead of using pads to make purchases, Theme Park Tycoon 2 has a far more elegant solution. This game is perhaps one of the most impressive Roblox games out there.

Geniu$: The Tech Tycoon Game (German: Genius Unternehmen Physik[2]) is a business simulation game in which the player operates an industrial business, making products from bicycles to aircraft. New technologies are obtained through physics questions to be solved by the player, occurring at intervals mirroring real-world innovation.
There are two related games, Genius: Task Force Biology (German: Genius: Task Force Biologie[3]) and Genius: Politics (German: Genius: Im Zentrum der Macht[4]).
Gameplay[edit]
To begin, the player chooses one of five cities of varying difficulty to play in: Pittsburgh, Detroit, Berlin, London, and Melbourne. The player starts with a single bicycle factory in 1850. At the start, the only available factory is the bicycle factory. New factories and other buildings can be obtained through research in the form of in-game puzzles and physics problems.[5]
As time progresses, the player enlarges the empire by building new factories, mines, and worker housing. The addition of infrastructure such as water and electricity increases productivity. Later, worker amenities such as libraries and schools become available to raise employee morale.[6]
The landscape is presented in 3/4 perspective.[7] The landscape can be rotated up to 45° left and right from initial, for a total 90° motion.[6]
Infrastructure[edit]
All buildings need to be connected together by roads so that workers can commute to work. Total demand for products can be increased through shipping, such as road and rail connections at the edge of the map and airports.
Genius The Tech Tycoon Game Cheats Age Of Empires 2
One of the earliest infrastructure upgrades is to supply buildings with water and fire coverage, increasing productivity and decreasing fire risk. This done through a pumping station placed at the edge of a body of water and water towers to transport it to distant areas, with fire stations placed within the water coverage. When electricity becomes available, the addition of that resource further increases productivity. Electricity is produced by a power plant and spread by transformer stations.[6]
Factories[edit]
Typical industrial zone
There are nine factory types in game: bicycles, locomotives, optics, motorcycles, automobiles, trucks, airships, airplanes, and rockets.[6]
Natural resources[edit]
The base natural resources involved in production are coal, iron, and rubber. Coal and iron can be mined, while rubber needs to be imported by ship. Coal and iron are mined from rock outcrops spread around the landscape. Coal and workers are required for all factories, though certain others also require steel and tires.[6]
Workers[edit]
The player is responsible for providing housing to all of the company's employees. The base accommodation is a worker cottage, which can upgrade and eventually be a skyscraper given sufficient demand. The player is also tasked with setting the employee wage. Morale decreases with a decrease or stagnation of wage, leading to increased risk of strikes and financial losses.

Characters[edit]
There are six characters seen throughout the game: Mr. Hoffman, George, Production Manager Cunningham, Mrs. Friedrichs, Assistant Mary Rogers, and Assistant Henry Wagner. They provide a face and voice for the various physics problems.
Reception[edit]
Genius The Tech Tycoon Game Cheats Codes
Reviews for Geniu$: The Tech Tycoon Game were generally mixed to positive. Aggregator Metacritic gives the game an average of 63/100.[8]

Allen Rausch at GameSpy rated Geniu$ at 3 out of 5 stars. For him, the game had a good premise but fell short on execution.[7] He appreciated the attempt at mixing educational content, but was disappointed by the mathematical difficulty of some problems and the shallow gameplay.[9]

Mad Games Tycoon (Eggcode, 2016). Tengo un problema con estos juegos. Me encantan.

Mad Games Tycoon Review Revisited 2017

Last year we had the pleasure of reviewing mad games tycoon while it was still in steam early access. The game was fantastic back when we reviewed it and it was slated to come out of steam early access, that's why I was so surprised when I re-downloaded the game earlier this week and found out that it was still in early access. If a game has been in early access for over a year, the first thought you would have is that the developer has abandoned the project and no further updates were being released. Fortunately, that couldn't be further from the truth with Mad Games Tycoon. In fact, a new update was release just this week. So lets dive in and see what new enhancements have been made since our last time exploring this fantastic game developer game.
Update: 1.170424A
APRIL 24 - EGGCODE GAMES Update: 1.170424A - 10 new platforms added. - Game reports: Now the subgenre is displayed. - Create new Engine: Now you can see how many engines you have developed from the genre. - MOD: You can now edit all platforms and add your own. - Different languages were updated. To add new platforms, open the following file: "MadGamesTycoon_Data/Platforms/Platforms.txt"
Update: 1.160926A - 1.161107A
NOVEMBER 7, 2016 - EGGCODE GAMES 1.160926A - 1.161107A: - New console added: Mintendu Zwitch - Console components and others can now be researched automatically. - Group Management menu added. - You can disable the AI for individual employees. - Publisher menu: Sort function added. - The effect of training now depends on the difficulty level. - Savegame load times optimized - Building / Demolition of rooms optimized. - Statistics: All Time Charts, Platforms, Publisher and History menu optimized. - Now the automation of contracts, research, training, support, marketing and game concepts can be stopped. - Different languages were updated. - Balance: Video Game Crashes are now rarer. - Balance: (Engines license) NPCs do not pay attention to the genre anymore. - Bug removed: If you built larger rooms, no building / departure particles were displayed. - Bug removed: "Automatic price" did not work correctly. - Bug removed: Fixed bug in tutorial. - Bug removed: Tooltips from servers shows an incorrect number. - Bug removed: Subscription price for MMOs (from subsidiaries) should now be default 5 $. - Bug removed: In the development report, only 4 numbers (points) were displayed. - Bug removed: (Delete savegame) The correct slot was not displayed. - Bug removed: (Contract work) The penalties have not worked properly. Mad Games Tycoon: Whats New Now lets discuss the many obvious differences that I noticed while playing Mad Games Tycoon.

One of major new features is the ability to automatically place objects when constructing new rooms. You simply select the quality of the items you want placed in the room by using the star menu to the right of the option. Then you click on which room you want whether its Development, production, or any of the other rooms available to help you achieve your next superb video game. Once you decide on a room you drag your mouse to select the size that you and then place the door. Now, the game will automatically fill the room to capacity with work stations, and it will also add misc items such as first aid kits and fire extinguishers. This is a fantastic feature because filling up each room with the appropriate items took a very long time and got repetitive extremely quickly. This options alleviates the intense micro managing and allows you to focus on making games and making money! While this can be seen as a very small mundane change, the effect it has is paramount once you start playing.

Another game changing feature in Mad Games Tycoon is the ability to place your employees in groups. While this also would seem like a small change, It really makes a huge difference. Since the employees that you hire in the beginning of the game are low level, you must train them to get their attributes up so that they can perform better in their tasks. The ability to put them in groups allows you to send specific groups to the training room so that they can be improved. It also allows you to send a whole group back to work once the training is complete. I was very happy to see this feature added to the game because this was something that I wished for while playing the game during our review last year.

Continuing the trend of small but game changing features in Mad Games Tycoon, the ability to automatically keep on researching certain items or automatically continue doing contract work is also huge. This always you to "set it and forget it". This is especially useful when researching game topic and genres. There are about 200 different topics to research and having to click on research on each one individually can become very tedious. This new feature really makes allows you to focus on the main point of the game which is hiring a great staff and making great games.

As you can see from the picture above Mad Games Tycoon can get overwhelming and extremely fast. You have numerous departments that need to be on the same page to be able to produce the best game possible.

I have been extremely successful in the game as you can see by my money and fans, but Im still chasing the unicorn that is a 100% review on one of my games. 98% is the closest I have been able to achieve. While we absolutely loved Mad Games Tycoon last year while it was in early access, the changes that have been made to the core game play make us love it even more! I had some trouble deciding which screenshot to show here today. I’d repeat myself showing more of Equilinox. Especially as I am preparing a little “first impressions” piece for the game. I did play more World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls Online, but not much as we’d been on a short vacation this week.
So, Mad Tower Tycoon it is! I bought the game last Sunday after a long long time of…
