A week ago I finally treated myself to a new game on my Nintendo Switch called Super Mario Odyssey, and so far the game is very fun to play on my down time. During my play through, I came across this really catchy tune where your mission is to recruit musicians throughout New Donk City for an in-game festival, and this is the resulting tune when you recruit every musician in the city. A random recording session with the funk band Trulio Disgracias last night. I was about to go to bed after my night shift at Disney, but I got a random message from a stranger on Facebook asking if I could come in to record some tracks for a song. So I ended up traveling over to San Pedro way past my planned bed time, and it turned out to be a fun experience! Jazz piano exercise: play ii-V-Is starting in C major going down in whole steps for every completed ii-V-I progression while playing a walking bass line in the left hand and 3rds and 7ths in the right hand. I took some jazz piano classes back in university as part of the requirement for obtaining a jazz degree, but I felt like I didn’t get as much as I wanted out of the experience.
