Shows I've been watching
1. Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Tumblr media
Mr. and Mrs. Smith (the movie) was a movie I had seen, but never gave much thought. When the announcement came for this show, Donald Glover described it as a show more about the relationship instead of the action, and that honestly sold me. I personally think action movies only work if the human element is emphasized.
I'm also really into the cinematography. It's stunning.
2. House MD
Tumblr media
I saw an old clip and led me to watch some episodes. I'm not going in order. It's purely based on vibes. Wilson is my favorite.
3. Daredevil
Tumblr media
It's been a long time coming. The first Defender. I 've seen the first three episodes every couple of years but always stopped right after for some reason. I'm watching it with a close friend, and we're having a blast.
Love Foggy. Love Claire. Miss Ben. Karen is growing on me. Matt can stick his tongue down my throat whenever.
4. Greys Anatomy
Tumblr media
I've never seen this show in my life and I was never planning on it. I saw a short of the time a mass shooter came to kill all the doctors and I got curious. I'm not watching it in order. I'm doing what I'm doing with House and just watching a random episode for the vibes.
I'm also not watching this consistently like the other ones.
Honorable Mentions:
Bridgerton (Season 3 specifically)
Tumblr media
I don't watch Bridgerton. While I was sort of planning to watch season 2, I never got around to it. I'm not really sure why Season 3 was something I wanted to watch maybe it was the idea of unrequited love and Regency gossip girl. Anyway, I watched all the episodes that same day, but since the other half won't come out until next month technically I'm still watching. Just waiting.

Show Recommendations
1. Heaven's Gate: The Cult of Cults
Tumblr media
So this is a docuseries with only 4 episodes. I've never been super familiar with cults. I've heard of some by name through crime shows, but I never really made an effort to learn more about them in detail.
Heaven's Gate is surprisingly one I did know in a general sense, but I honestly can't tell you where I learned it from. X-Files? Parks and Rec? South Park? I have no idea. Anyway, this documentary is fantastic, and I honestly feel such sympathy for the survivors and those that died.
It's easy to say that you would never fall for a cult, but a lot of these people were smart, college-educated, and had loved ones. They really weren't that different from you and me. What got them was their need to feel purposeful, for their lives to mean more than what they already had, to belong to something special. And that's definitely relatable.
2. CBS Ghosts
Tumblr media
Hear me out. I know those who watched BBC Ghosts either don't like this show or don't want to give it a chance since they first heard about it. I was the same way. But then I got through the first two or three episodes, and I found that there was something special. This show isn't perfect, and sometimes the humor can be a little cringe. But the Ghosts and Livings are sweet and lovable, and they do care about each other. And as someone who is tired of media that is gritty and mean-spirited, it's really refreshing. So I definitely recommend watching it, but I suggest watching BBC Ghosts too.
3. Living Single
Tumblr media
I loved everything about this show. The music, the fashion, the characters, the story arcs. I literally cried when I finished the show because I didn't want it to end. It's such a disappointment that they didn't get more seasons nor did the executives treat the actors the way they should have because of that the writing suffered a little towards the end. I truly recommend this show. It's so funny and the characters are all lovable. The first two episodes are a little rough because I don't think they knew who Kyle and Obie were yet, but once they do WOW. What a group of friends.
4. The Last of Us
Tumblr media
I'm speaking to the few that didn't watch this show. Zombie-fatigue is real. And this is the very definition of gritty and heartbreak that i was talking about earlier.
HOWEVER!
This show is less about zombies and more about human relationships. Despite immense heartbreak and loss, you can still find love in all its many facets and attempts to live again. Also, my favorite thing is that it also shows you the lengths that you would go for a loved one. What's the point of morals in an apocalyptic world?
5. Jinny's Kitchen
Tumblr media
So, normally, I don't watch these types of reality shows. Actually, I don't watch reality shows at all. But seeing as I'm a fan of BTS, I heard that Taehyung was on this cooking show, and for those of you that don't know he's not much of a cook. Like at all. Before this, I'm pretty sure the only thing he knew how to do really well was ramen lol. Anyway, the premise of the show is that these celebrities get together to open a pop-up Korean restaurant for a week in Mexico. It's hilarious, especially when the two interns (Wooshik and Taehyung) dream about quitting and going on vacation or starting their own union.

Shows I'm currently watching (August edition)
1. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Tumblr media
If you've been following me these past couple of weeks, you know how much i love this show. The whole cast of characters is so lovely, and the adventures can be so silly sometimes. It's great!
I would love to get a hug from Captain Pike. He seems like such a great hugger.
2. CW Nancy Drew
Tumblr media
Another show I'm obsessed with. Everyone is so lovable and so very supportive of each other. Not to mention, Maine seems like such a beautiful place. Though, of course, without all the supernatural stuff.
The finale is happening this week! It sucks that we couldn't get at least an extra episode of Ace and Nancy being an official couple, but here's hoping that the final moments they do get is electric and romantic.
3. Insecure
Tumblr media
I know. I'm super super late to the party. Do you know how many of my friends have recommended this to me? I really should be ashamed.
Issa is great. I love her, and I'm looking forward to seeing what she has in store for me.
4. Space Force
Tumblr media
This show should not be funny, but I find myself laughing at these dummies. I wouldn't say everyone on the show is likable, but I like their antics. They keep me entertained.
I'm also shipping Mark Naird and Dr. Adrian Mallory really hard. Someone send me fic recommendations. I need them!
Fuck Netflix for the millionth time for canceling this show!
Honorable Mentions
1. Inside Job
Tumblr media
Finished it. Mad, it was canceled.
2. Secrets of the Zoo: Tampa
Tumblr media
A guilty pleasure. The animals are so cute!
3. Good Girls
Tumblr media
I got an urge to read Brio fanfictions, and now I'm slowly watching the show again. Maybe I'll finally finish season 4.

Shows I'm currently obsessed with:
1. The Last of US
There are no words to describe how much I love this show. I'm a sucker for found families and hot dads. And, Pedro Pascal has been stealing my heart since The Mandalorian.
Ps. I'm also reading a really interesting book about Fungus.
Tumblr media
2. Star Trek The Original Series
Tumblr media
It's funnier and gayer than I remember it being, and I love every minute of it. I'm going through the episodes slowly, so I'll probably be done with it in April.
Please mute me because I'll be occasionally posting about the show.
3. Star Trek: Lower Decks
Tumblr media
I finished this show with my sister a couple of weeks ago, but I'll probably end up watching again for fun. It's a really fantastic show. I highly recommend.
4. Abbott Elementary
Tumblr media
Do I really need to say more? This show is amazing. You need to watch it.

Shows I'm Currently Watching
Hilda Hurricane/ Hilda Furracao
Tumblr media
So I saw this particular sequence of scenes(? this is why I'm not a published author I don't know the difference) on Tiktok , and I'm not going to lie it immediately sparked my interest. I don't know if it's the forbidden romance or the yearning (have I mentioned I'm a big fan of yearning and seemingly unrequited love?), or religious trauma, but I had to watch it.
Also, the show is turning how to be so much more than expected. How often the church ignores the people on the fringe of society. The scare of communism and how it affects the poor and anyone different from them. Ugh, there's so much to say. It's great!
I'm only on episode 4 (I'm watching it with my sister so it's slow going) and I'm dying to get to this scene.
A quick observation of this gif based on the few episodes I've seen (it really helps establish their personalities, their struggles, and motivations and of course, the environment around them and how it shapes them): Malthus has been struggling with his sexuality since becoming a monk. His friends constantly test his resolve but Malthus stays resolute and doesn't give in to "earthly temptations." His purity and dedication to his faith are the reasons why he's quickly given the saint moniker, especially during a time when "communism" and the Hilda obsession are on the rise. The thing is you can tell he's uncomfortable with the moniker because he knows he's only human who is trying to do his best and he can never meet the expectation society is placing on him. Anyway, he meets Hilda in the most dramatically catholic-gothic way, she fights back and she's incredibly beautiful and she's telling him what he knows to be true, but no one else is saying. His world is completely rocked.
Ugh, I can't wait to watch this episode.
2. What We Do In The Shadows
Tumblr media
This is the natural progression of finishing Wellington Paranormal. I loved that show so much so I thought that I would give this show a chance. Also, vampires!
It's fun and silly and it cements my reasons for loving sitcoms.
I'm 2 episodes away from finishing the first season.
3. The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
Tumblr media
I've been slowly getting into watching cozy mystery movies and shows again. I think this would definitely be classified as a cozy mystery. While it's a British-made show, the show was filmed and narratively set in Botswana. It's funny and sweet. The main character is beautiful, smart and very sincere.
It's a shame it only got 7 episodes before it was cancelled, but at least there are novels. Also, it's one of the few shows that my cat will watch. lol
4. Delicious in Dungeon
Tumblr media
I like medieval stuff. I like the look of anime food. I like Slice-of-Life anime shows. That's pretty much it.
Shows I'm Still Watching:
Abbott Elementary
Tumblr media
I forgot there was a new season. Still wholesome. It's a little jarring that Pug from She-Hulk is a regular this season, but I like him. Everyone is still lovable and fun like always.
2. Mr. And Mrs. Smith
Tumblr media
I've been watching this at a glacial pace. I don't know what to tell you. I like it enough to keep watching it, but I don't have the urge to binge-watch it. So I'm savoring the eight episodes. I'm currently on the fourth.
3. Daredevil
Tumblr media
God, I love looking at this man. Like I said previously, I'm watching this show with a friend and we have a life, so we're watching this when we have time. We literally have 2 episodes left.
Shows I Finished too quickly this month
The Gilded Age
Tumblr media
I was not expecting this show to be so entertaining or that it would be so stacked with talented actresses. Audra McDonald, Christine Baransi, Cynthia Nixon?! WHAT?
Also, whether old money or new money, rich people are annoying and out-of-touch. But it's fun to see the infighting.
2. Bridgerton: Season 3
Tumblr media
I finished it. I need to watch it again so I can solidify my opinions, but I definitely think there weren't enough romantic scenes between Colin and Penelope before the truth came out.
