oh, yeah!!! im... my PLAN was to make a LIST (...) with all of marcs full races i can find to watch online starting in 2008 (maybe 2008 and 2009 like, his two podium races, but from 2010 onwards obvs all) and if not the full race then at least highlights and like, watch it alllllllll. we got four weeks without moto, so... i thought this would be a good time to catch up and i want to know about his pre-gp years before i dive into 2013+

estoril 2010 highlights just randomly plopped up after i looked for indianapolis 2010 to find out how he went from pole position to 10th (penalty. it was a penalty. truly they should invent a new category of racing for marc.)

that said. valencia 2012 is literally maybe one of the best races ridden by a single rider like, ever, isnt it?

of course it was. who else could possibly get themselves demoted for unsafe riding in free practice (LOOKS LIKE A SKILL ISSUE FROM THE OTHER GUY TO ME) to the backkkk of the grid and then overtake 32 riders to claim victory in a race he didnt even need to race bc he was already moto2 champ. guess not everyone can go from last to first in valencia and claim a title, maybe SOME people should have watched a replay of this race before their own.

anyway, i didnt mean to watch valencia in full until the very end of my pre-motogp catch up, yk, as a treat, but now im tempted to watch it immediately and then again when i get there. i mean that first half of his first lap you see in that video i linked above is just. wdym he went from 33rd to 5th in HALF a lap ?????? also some of his overtakes... maybe i understand why they called him baby terrorist and invented a new punishment system for marc. maybe i understand. the way he SQUEEZED into the tightest of gaps? the way other riders shrink from him? enter experiencing the horrors -> the horrors :3 meme

my favourite part of that pre-race video bit is maybe his face when they, i assume, tell him about the penalty, or hes about to go out and race knowing the penalty exists.

something is going on in his eyes here that JUST. devil incarnate. absolute fucking demon. he doesnt look 19, he looks.........his EYES? hard to capture in screencaps but in video form its INSANE. its like, not only does he not need this win, he doesnt need this race at all. and yet. LOOK at him. its not amusement, not irritation, not frustration. its anger, almost, the simmering kind, the kind that settles like poison and turns your veins cold. its almost like hes saying oh yeah? back of the grid? we will see about that. and decides to wreak absolute fucking havoc and terrorise the rest of the grid for life. no one walked out of valencia 2012 unafraid of marc. hell, i bet you half the motogp grid watching this knowing marc is coming was shitting their pants. and i mean, not only did he WIN from 33rd to 1st. he also won by a MILE. like it wasnt even close. p2 julian simon finished 1.2 secs behind him, and the very next rider, p3 (!!!) finished 11 (!!!) seconds behind marc. thats eleveeeeen seconds. and that wasnt just anyone yeah that was nico terol who knows how to ride a fucking bike. like, in the end, marc was riding that race at such a high level just the start makes your teeth chatter with absolute bone-deep terror and ecstasy of what hes truly capable of, and he makes it looks so easy. so easy. like hes flying. marc, baby, words fail me once again. i dont think we really understand him.

and idk WHAT possessed him to stick it to literally everyone and their mother in valencia, but i dare say this was done on purpose. the win, i mean, the absolute dominance of it. to leave them all speechless, in this last moto2 race of his career, a moto2 career with a 50% !!!!!!!!! WIN rate. to make sure they realise what they are witnessing. what greatness looks like. im your new king, now bow to me. all hail marc marquez. amen!
