Though I will post more pictures from the Haigia Sophia, ancient church built by the Byzantine Emperor, Justinian in 537 AD ( yup it's 1500 years old, was converted to a mosque and is now a museum) this wishing thumb was important today. Justinian was ill and became well after praying. I forget where the thumb came in exactly (Ahmet told me so much today!) except that if you place your thumb in the whole & rotated it 360 degrees and make a wish your wish would come true.
