In the last the last two meetings, the Lionesses emerged the victors in both games with 1-0 and 2-1 wins.

Following a good WWC performance, the England team have been shaky in recent fixtures with a draw and a loss. The team have been disorganised defensively and slow to get forward leading to being disposed easily and a loss of momentum.

With the loss of Ellen White through injury, England are missing the strong attacking presence that they had at the WWC with White being able to get on the end of through balls and convert chances.

Although Bronze has grown in her midfield role, the defense is not strong enough to manage without her with Daly struggling to make an impact like Bronze is able to. Bright being out of the squad may be a blessing in disguise as she lost possession of the ball multiple times and left a weak link in defense which ,hopefully, will be sorted out by playing Williamson as centre back who is much more capable of keeping possession and building up play from the back.

This will be the Brazil teams first friendly since their 2-1 defeat to France in the WWC. Prominent players like Marta and Formiga can make an impact if they play .

If England finally start to their form and have worked on their issues from the previous two friendlies I believe the Lionesses will come away with a win. Playing infront of a passionate crowd in the home region of many of the players will provide extra motivation for the players and they will be hungry for a win after the previous friendlies.

Overall , I think this will be a very interesting match with two strong sides and I am looking forward to attending and being able to see the Lionesess play for the first time.

England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Vs Brazil 🇧🇷 : Post Match Analysis

The first half of the match was a strong start for England. They created plenty of chances using the wide channels by pushing the ball out to Mead and Parris.

Parris and Mead were both excellent with their runs forward with the ball and their deliveries into the box and it’s what helped provide momentum in the first half.

Bronze was back as RB( finally🙄) and was able to provide a solid support for the right side whilst also driving up the pitch with the ball and helping to create chances.

Williamson finally got her start for England and it was a solid first half from her providing strength at the back and being an extra player to use to help build up play.

It was great to see Jordan Nobbs back on the pitch and she had a good game with a solid performance being a reliable player to help with attacks.

However, the second half was a different story. I feel like we were unlucky and were the better side but unfortunately when it came down to it on the day, Brazil were able to convert the few chances that they were given and that is what counts. The goals were easy goals for Brazil and could have been avoided by England however they were caught out by the quick Brazilian counter attacks.

The injection of fresh legs from Daly, Staniforth and England helped bring a new spark back to England’s game. Beth England had an excellent match and I feel like she should have been brought on earlier at half time maybe. Beth England’s goal was 😍 and after the goal England gained momentum again but were unfortunately not able to use it.

Although England lost, you could definitely see improvements from the previous two friendlies. The defense were tighter and had more structure probably due to the involvement of Williamson and Bronze. England used the width more and created more attacking chances and had a better style of play. Unfortunate results however postives can be taken from the game and I’m excited to see the progress in the next match.
