WEEK 4 - ASSIGNMENT!!!💃🕺✨

- Alright! Time to talk about this week’s highlight! The ✨Assignment✨

For this week’s assignment we were separated into 2 groups and were requested to come up with a dance video with a meaningful story while incorporating timing, space and composition into it!

For this assignment I was grouped with Ayodya, Sanu and Thameena. I’m happy to say that we were able to get our idea set for the dance video.

Before I talk about our idea, process and final submission of the dance video I would like to mention that we had a dance workshop related to this assignment. We were taught how to use the space provided and to use movement to tell a story. I’m not gonna lie, it was a fun workshop (we had one dance session where we had to close our eyes and move and I ended up bumping into a couple of chairs haha)

Now! Let’s talk about the idea for the assignment! The 4 of us sat down and started using our last 2 braincells to come up with a good story. We knew choreography is something we can fix along the way, but we can’t even start the choreography without the story. After a good 30 - 45 minutes of discussion, we came up with our story!

We decided the title of the dance video was going to be ‘Freedom’. This story’s about a girl who loves to dance! However her parents/ society doesn’t support this passion of hers. They try to force her into doing what they feel isn’t a waste of time. They try to force her to get into a relationship but she pushes away until she finally breaks free from their ideals. Time goes by and she’s dancing away enjoying life. Society judges from afar and realizes that they needed to let go of her from the start. She continues dancing happily and she ends up meeting someone just like her. ~The End~

(There were a few changes that were done to the story but this is the final story line we went with. I’m aware it sounds dramatic too but…it works 🤷‍♀️)

- We had a-lot of bloopers while we were recording the dance video but I would be showing them. Instead, here’s some snips from our final dance video!😆💖

- That’s all for week 4. It was quite a challenge to come up with proper choreography since we ended up changing small bit of it and the recording process was tiring since we had to run up and down from the 18th floor to the 9th floor at AOD🥲 However, looking back at the dance video I no longer have any complaints. It was all worth it😁❤️
