Enjoy the Little Things

Often times in our very chaotic, fast paced world, we neglect the little things that we enjoy. These are the things that make you smile on a bad day, things that calm you down, and satisfying realizations. They are the things that bring peace and remind us to take life one moment at a time, and are often little things that we overlook or take for granted.  I encourage you to think of your own favorite little things. Here are some of mine:

- Rain sounds. I especially love when it rains at night because I’m able to listen to the peaceful pitter-patter outside my window as I fall asleep. 

- Animals. Even when I’ve had an awful day, whenever my dog comes running to the door to greet me, I can’t help but to smile. I also love when my cats rub their heads against mine as a sign of affection. It melts my heart every time.

- Coffee in the Morning. I love the sound of coffee being poured into my favorite mug on a chilly morning.

- Pens. It’s so satisfying finding the perfect pen that glides along your paper.

- The smell of a new book being cracked open, the pages ready to be turned for the first time.

-  Warm tea or hot chocolate on a cold winters day. It’s like a hug in a mug. 

- Cozy, fuzzy socks

- Flowers blooming in the spring, nature ready to be born again.

- Leaves crunching amongst the autumn breeze. 

-  Candles with flames that flicker and fill your room with a delightful scent. 

- Fairy lights or Christmas lights

- When you find out that a dress, jacket, or some other article of clothing has pockets.

- When you drop something, but then catch it in midair before it hits the ground.

- Little succulents and plants 

-  A gentle breeze on a summers day.  

Sometimes life moves so fast it passes us by. We should not underestimate the simple things in life. So, go ahead and take a moment to enjoy the little things.
