Escaflowne: A Reunion by batang-gala on deviantart!

They somehow deleted the contents of their dA, but I found this from a rogue Pinterest link from googling the artist's name + escaflowne. The artist's name is in Tagalog; it means "wandering child". And encountering a Filipino person on the internet, who also made one of my fave fanarts ever of my all-time fave anime, permanently etched their name in my brain.

Muppet x Escaflowne

Based on this tumblr post about unhinged fanfiction. Miss Piggy as Hitomi, Kermit the Frog as Van, Gonzo and Camilla as Allen and Millerna. I thought about doing more, but I think this is it for now.

I recently found some Escaflowne doujinshi covers I screenshotted a long time ago from a vintage fansite I found on the Internet Archive. I don't have credits or titles for the doujinshi but I thought the community might enjoy seeing them. If anyone knows the artist credits, please add them in the comments.

It is so interesting how different artists depict Dilandau, either playing up the feminine or masculine characteristics of my favourite character. My favourite piece is the stark black, red, and white artwork of Dilandau, showing their ferocious side in its full glory.

I have my own unique way of drawing Dilandau too, with a lot of influence from 19th century art of Joan of Arc and from Keiko Takemiya's iconic character Gilbert Cocteau from her controversial manga series Kaze to Ki no Uta.

I've been cleaning out my craft room and couldn't find this and knew there was no way in fudge I had gotten rid of it. ... It was at the bottom of a drawer.

Painted on canvas in high school (freshman or sophomore, 2001-2003, ~16\17). I totally used a print-out stencil. I did use an actual feather to "paint" the wings. It didn't work well, as expected.

WIP So I had this whole idea that was inspired by when Hitomi gives the episode recap, but now has Van with her as they create their own future. I hate wings. Feathers are a pain to draw so this might look kind of wonky, but fork it. They don't give tons of detail in the series, so I won't lose my mind over this part. Anyways... I need help deciding a color for her dress! :x If you have any ideas do add them! I would love feedback :) Bonus points if you recognize the dress (I think it's fitting) LSS It's still a wip, so there are a lot of things I will be changing, especially with the shadows. originally I wasn't going to add the pendant, but then decided against that.

I always said You Higuri would have been the PERFECT mangaka to make an accurate manga adaptation of the sword and sorcery isekai classic anime Vision of Escaflowne. She excels at historical and cultural details as well as action scenes, and she's one of the notable mangaka who can make ethnically diverse shojo style character designs.

This image was shared by a member of the Vision of Escaflowne Facebook group, and unfortunately I don't have much context on when or why You Higuri made this art. Maybe it was her own fan art or part of some promotion for Escaflowne back in the 90s? If you know anything about this image I'd be eager to learn.
