Ads All Over NYC Get Swapped To Create Citywide COVID-19 Art Exhibition

To express gratitude to essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic, Time Square Arts and Poster House have unveiled a public art campaign, #CombatCovid, that sees public service announcements in the form of artworks on optimism, love, support and hope in digital billboards across prime locations in New York City.


The initiative was launched in collaboration with Print magazine and, artist-run platform, For Freedoms. The project is centered in Times Square, but will reach citizens across 1,800 LinkNYC Kiosks in all five boroughs, as well as Silvercast ad spaces above the Lincoln Tunnel.

NYC ad spots are swapped with digital works by artists including Pablo Declan, Maira Kalman, Richard McGuire, Debbie Millman, Emily Oberman, Ola Baldych, Gemma O’Brien, Edel Rodriguez, Zipeng Zhu, and Jessica Hische.

Some of the messages include, “Love in the time of Corona” and “6 feet is 6 feet is 6 feet is 6 feet.” Preview some pieces and view them all here.
