Day One (Late) - Star Trek: Picard

Season 1 Character Introductions: the character introduction of Emil and Cris was one of the best character introductions I could have asked for. The bait and switch of Emil coming out first then Cris, shirtless, lighting a cigar with a chunk of Tritanium shrapnel sticking out of his shoulder was brilliant. And then they just kept on coming with more holos and it was wonderful. Emil, the Emergency Medical Hologram; Cristóbal Rios

Season 2 character introductions: It was tragic that Seven merged the holos and poor Merged!Emmet is stretched thin doing the work of five holograms crew members but it was nice to have at least one of the holos back at all. Also, Colonel Cristóbal Rios, fascist bastard that he is, is certainly dashing in his all black outfit, black leather gloves and thigh holster

Cris Rios’ personality bits

(Or: how the whole Aramis in Space subfandom had totally guessed that the holos were aspects of his identity as early as ep 4, how we had totally guessed that they all had different accents as well as their own names, how we had totally guessed that their looks had something to do with Cris’ self-loathing, and how we as a fandom respect and admire the writers for creating such well fleshed out characters.)

ET(S)H (Emergency Tactical (& Security) Hologram/Emmet): carefree asshole who likes booze and bad words, and would get tattoos on every single inch of his skin but then they wouldn’t look as cool, sleeps through meetings, the jerk Cris wishes he could be but isn’t

EEH (Emergency Engineering Hologram/Ian): practical, no nonsense, a very hand-on approach to problems, Starfleet™ to the core, the proud spiritual descendant of Montgomery Scotty, a nerd

EHH (Emergency Hospitality Hologram/Mister Hospitality, Steward for the fans): not that great with people (probably deleted that somewhere along the way), Starfleet Commander stick so far up his arse, a neat freak, a nerd, doesn’t like people sleeping during meetings or putting their feet on the furniture (Cris puts his feet on the furniture, because his self loathing is that strong), the well groomed prick Cris has in himself to be but absolutely despises

EMH (Emergency Medical Hologram/Emil?): a sweety, no-nonsense, too nice to be a Starfleet doctor, competent, people should listen to him, a nerd

ENH (Emergency Navigational Hologram/Enoch): full of innocence and sunshine, a nerd, everyone’s favorite, light of everybody’s day, gets flustered when people are nice, says “moodiness overload” in all seriousness, an angel, absolute puppy

Emmett was, in the end, a part of captain Rios and so were his feelings. He loved Agnes the same way the captain did, but he’d forbidden himself to act on those feelings. He wasn’t the captain, not quite, so he shouldn’t confuse the poor little doctor with his own feelings. Not when she was in such pain.

PicardPositivity Day 14: Emmet (ETSH) - personally I will add in the "S" for Security because he is both tactical and security - Fighting fire with fire

I love Emmet. He is chaos made out of light and forcefields.

Emmet's tattoos still vex me. I really want to see more about his tattoos, get clear, detailed pictures of them. I want to know how many he has, I want to know if there are more that are covered up.

We had a good conversation earlier today about Emmet in the Aramis in Space Discord server, and I love everyone's interpretations of him, whether he's perpetually hungover as stated in the Rogue Elements books and sometimes mentioned in headcanons, or depression sleeping or if he's just floppy, whether it's depression apathy, or an existentialist "nothing matters so why should I care" attitude, he is a more extreme version of the image Rios would like people to see him as, although, like Cris, because he comes from Cris, even on Emmet that's just a front he puts up to hide the fact that he really does care (I think that's shown when he's concerned about Emil telling Cris's secrets).

A part of that "Emmet is who Cris wishes he was" thing I mentioned was having a headcanon that Emmet's tattoos are every tattoo Cris has wanted, and when it is the same design in more than one place, it's because Cris has had different ideas of where he wanted that design. But ultimately, so far, he only has the mermaid tattoo.

PicardPositivity Day 14: Androids

Soji is the most important android on the show. I would really love to see her interact with the holos. I think they would be fascinated to meet someone who is another type of AI. I also think Picard's golem thing would be interesting to them. They are kind of in between Soji and Golem Picard, where Soji was a completely new individual created and golem Picard is entirely (as far as we know, and the way they set it up) the personality imprint of an actual human, and the holos are... A mix of that. They have their own, pre-programmed personalities, they have their own personalities they developed from their experiences as their adaptive programming involved with interactions, and they have the imprint of Rios's personality. I think they can relate to Soji, of having all this knowledge and basically memories that are not their own. But in their case, they are Cris's, whereas for her, they were made up by Maddox and Soong. But they still know that feeling of having memories of things you didn't actually experience. I think this would be an interesting thing to explore.

I also would like to see the holos on Coppelius. Coppelius station being fitted entirely with holo-emitters, so it becomes a haven for androids, sentient holograms, and xBs. Maybe any other type of AI and cyborgs, too. I would love to see how Coppelius develops.
